Unacceptable Ads - Page 26

Our ad policy does not permit auto playing audio or auto expanding ads. To report an ad, follow these steps:

1. Right click the ad (or just below if you can't right click it) and choose "Inspect" (img)

2. In the dev tools window, scroll up so that as much of the code before the highlighted line is visible (img). Expand any collapsed lines if necessary.

3. Link a screenshot of the ad, a description of the problem and a screenshot of the dev tools window in this thread.

Ok so the recent slew of ads that display on the right side of the page have been slowing down my browser substantially. Most of the time, I can't even identify them because they trigger an unresponsive scrip warning and require that I reload the page or disable them entirely. I used to be able to leave a tl window open as one of my tabs and these ads are largely making it impossible. I've noticed that it usually involves ads that implement a video of some kind. I would provide more identification only I can't seem to "catch" the ads before they trigger unresponsive scrip warnings.

Edit: I'll try and take a screenshot the next time it pops up.

Hi,

I've (for the first time on this site) encountered an annoying ad, that slowed down my browser and constantly looped a video with sound. As far as I could tell at the moment, I couldn't turn the sound (or video) of. I've made a screenshot of the ad, but didn't know the url was relevant as well. As soon as I encounter it again, i will note the url.

If this is a known ad and not considered unacceptable, please ignore this post.

Hey, I'm getting some straight up autoplay video ads again. Quite a few of them actually. They dont fit the page and cause massive slow down, and if I'm trying to watch a stream they're even worse.

I recently have some auto play video ads on TL that slow my Laptop down a lot. This is quite annoying, i would love to keep being able not to use adblock, but if this keeps up it is basically the choice between using adblock or not using TL.

Apparently i am not the only person that has that problem, but i don't know how i can get the information you need.

Rightclicking just says something about an "O2 Player", the ad itself is from what i can tell for some deodorant, and half the time it crashes my flash player. I am using firefox, as that appears to be relevant for others that have the same problem.

It would be really nice if you could get rid of these ads.

These video ads above (and below apparently) the life stream list are incredibly annoying. They lag my computer hard, crash half the time, and i really thought that TL was above having fucking autoplay video ads on its pages. They also come up every single time i load a page on TL now, always leading to a 5-10 second freeze, sometimes longer until flash decides to crash. And even after a page has been loaded for a while, they still slow it down, sometimes completely freeze or crash.

It seems to be some sort of ad for Rexona deodorant. And Levi's Jeans for women.

Is something being done about these? Can i do something to help?

anyone experiences a little like "beep" on the video ads, they its like when i load into a new ad with a video ad or if the page im on has an ad and it changes to a video ad, i get like half a second of the video playing before it mutes itself which is getting really annoying, every now and again i get this "sound"
I wanna find out if its just my settings/browser or something...

Obviously, those are only the working ones. The broken once just keep on circling, lagging my PC and crashing from time to time. For now, just turning off Flash player seems to fix the problem, but i would kind of like to have that one turned on.

I'm experiencing these video ads as well- sounds suddenly playing, though stuttered because it bogs down my computer. Half the time it freezes my browser so I can't even record a link- have to end process instead.

Yeah I have the same one, keeping showing the loading icon and crashing/freezing the browser.
If I remove them with Firebug the browser acts normally.

I got this very stupid ad, that one would expect to see on a porn site, its enourging people to have sex with 40+ women....what the hell
Dating ads are one thing but it actuall says in the title "These women dont expect dates" ....thats a bit too far for an ad

same problem here. No idea idea if it's the specific adds or the player but it seems like the player just crashes or slows down everything even if it works. They don't autoplay for me so all I see is a black picture with a "play" button on it and despite not playing I have about ~2 second lag on this page. If I mouseover somewhere it'll take about 1-2 seconds until the link (like forum on the left) gets the usual mouseover highlight. Even as I'm typing right now I'm having the same lag and the words only appear a couple seconds after I press on the keyboard.

I'm on Win8, Chrome if that helps. If you want anything else just go ahead and ask but it's kind of hard to get information about the adds with browser frozen and not even being able to scroll at times.

I made a thread on my browser dieing on TL - now after investigating more it seems to me that it is those mp4 ads, my computer just does not handle them well.

So far I didn't get anyone to really kill the browser, but at least this one

is very common now and makes my CPU usage skyrocket everytime it opens.

edit: ha! there is a disable HTML5 autoplay feature in FF, I tried it, seems to be better (but still even loading those ads drains some unnecesarry power)

Yeah i turned off the Flash plugin, which stopped that stuff, but still that shit doesn't sound like something that should be on TL.

pretty sure thats violating steam/dota tos.

I don't really know if it's the correct place to post this, but I think the ads on TL are slightly fucked up on my PC : even though I have (well had, because of my problem I turned it on again, no point in getting only Twitch ads) adblock off for TL.net (the whole site), and while I get ads from the Twitch streams I watch on TL, I don't see any other ads, neither at the top of the page nor in the right sidebar. Why?
