Our ad policy does not permit auto playing audio or auto expanding ads. To report an ad, follow these steps: 1. Right click the ad (or just below if you can't right click it) and choose "Inspect" ( img) 2. In the dev tools window, scroll up so that as much of the code before the highlighted line is visible ( img). Expand any collapsed lines if necessary. 3. Link a screenshot of the ad, a description of the problem and a screenshot of the dev tools window in this thread. |

I am happy to un-Adblock EVERYTHING on TL and all streams. However, the current Lenovo Yoga? add that expands into it's own window and starts a loud ad is very annoying. I will NOT adblock, but please look into! Thanks.
EDIT: Sorry, I now see R1CH's note. I guess when I open a stream page, I leave my mouse in just the right place. SORRY! I will pay more attention in the future.

I know that I don't post very often but I hope my thoughts will still be relevant. I appreciate what you guys do in terms of the ads on the site and that it probably seems like whining, but I really dislike the Lenovo ad.
Reading R1CH's post and watching the video about how it triggers have been helpful in minimizing the number of times I deal with this, but overall I would say that I view it pretty negatively. Even with the knowledge of how to prevent the popup I still find myself making mistakes while using other programs and being punished by alarms. If it was just a silent popup I wouldn't mind, but the blaring of loud noise is quite irritating.
My impressions are that teamliquid.net is generally much better about ads than other sites. I don't have to deal with inappropriate ads plastered all over my screen and as a result I more frequently see interesting tech ads here. At least for me this is one of the few sites where I have clicked on an add to learn more about the company as opposed to accidentally opening it.
By contrast the lenovo ad seems more intrusive than the average for other sites. This was partly because I couldn't figure out why the ad was triggering while I wasn't on the page, and partly because ads rarely force proactive action from me to avoid them. If one bothers me or is in poor taste I can just stop looking at it. An ad that merely covers the screen does not impact me doing other things, but I find it hard to listen to music while this ad plays in the background.
Take my feedback for what it is worth. I hope it is helpful, BronzeLeague

I was able to recreate the ad counting down without hovering over it, but this time a different way. Basically what I did was move the tab to create a new window, but placed the tab back. Then, for whatever reason, the cursor would count as sitting on the ad when you scroll across it vertically. Passing across the ad and exiting horizontally did not have the same effect. The video shows this.

you know if you want the ad to play it's a lot easier than that. seriously that's a lot of work.

It looks like this is more a case of you skipping from the flash ad onto the flash video without touching the browser in between, so the ad never sees that the cursor left it.

I consider the "Scarlet Blade" game (by aeria games) ads NSFW. ad tag: GAO_INT + Show Spoiler [ad link] + Ad doesn't give me a preferences option. + Show Spoiler [screenshot] + The screenshot is a still from an animation. (Also I think it is a distasteful business practice and then I click on the ad for the link and my mind just boggles)

I'll put my 2c in on this also and say that this Lenovo add is fucking annoying and frequently activates even when I'm on other tabs. I realize I could watch a video (wtf?) on how to not make this ad intrusive but that's fucking ridiculous. It's an ad, it should just sit there waiting for me to look at it, and if it insists on being a roll-over, it should actually require me to pause my cursor on the ad, on the right tab, in order for it to expand and start blaring sound at me.
I love TL and have proudly not used AdBlock ever since I came here, but this is testing my patience.

Just out of curiosity, why did you filter out Gambling and Tobacco? I don't even see a big problem with these topics.

I love TL and have proudly not used AdBlock ever since I came here, but this is testing my patience. It does require you to pause your cursor to rollover. However due to browser limitations, if you move your cursor directly from the ad to the browser chrome or another flash object, or if your sensitivity causes it to skip empty space, the ad never sees the mouse leave the ad since flash is a terrible thing and should not exist.

I dont know for sure if this crosses the nsfw threshold but worth checking I suppose. It's some sort of dating website. TF_US
+ Show Spoiler +
edit: "Dating" site might be a stretch. The little banner at the top of the site reads "Find a Girl, Message her and Fuck her Tonight!"

really annoying 10000000th visitor ad but the killer is that it plays a loud jingle when it loads, you don't even have to mouseover or anything.

Yep, that's indeed very annoying... Was wondering what caused that sound - thanks for the tip earlier in the thread about clicking the x in the corner to kill it off.

Seems like it's geo-targeted to Denmark, I'll see if I can track it down.

It's gone from TL now. Thanks R1CH!
Now if only it could be gone from the rest of the net :D

Might not be "unacceptable" but I have it on every single TL page and it's really weird : (TF_INT)

Looks like some ad provider is serving up misconfigured banner sizes. Nothing to worry about really, it should clear itself up once they notice the mistake.

Got an ad for asianbeauties.com (15,000+ asian surprises!).
Interesting...

I just post in this thread, but the ads that i get are really annoying as soon a topic is somehow asian related. I don't want to see these ads... And I still wonder how I get rid of these. Is there any subscription available?
