i try to read and participate in the threads on this site at least 8 times a day but usually there are very few new posts to respond to.

i suggest we advertise on great sites like gamefaqs and sclegacy to try to get more participants, or maybe get a battle.net bot to spam on east.

perhaps a downloads section would help, too. we could put some map hacks and cracks.

this site has some really good news/article posters and some good forum posters still drop by now and then. the coverage and explanation of the pro leagues is great on this site, and we try to share vods. hmz and good replays too, altho they are usually more for entertainment and novelty i think. so many ppl from this site quit bw, it troubles me.. what other english community is after this site? wgtour? ugh

This site has enough idiots as it is, and by advertising on GameFAQs, SCLegacy, and East you hope to gain more quality topics? It will be newb fest even more so than now

yea most of the admins are not involved in bw anymore, they said they were going to expand the tl.net staff, but never did.

so i don't know.im sure the site would be more active with some fresh faces working at it,like that X)Benny guy is doing ;p

stimey,

Thx for the comments. It's something we're in the process of dealing with. It's also definitely something I've been thinking about. A bit of patience and constructive input would be great. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

i dunno what to say mensrea. there is good content and good content providers here and this seems to be the best english site, but its not being taken advantage of very much, instead of rallying around a community its kind of like a deserted island we are all stuck on

klogon i never meant to say this site should be like past newb sc sites, if thats what i said.

we have amazing ppl that come here like ilnp legion hovz rekrul nazgul drone mesrea waxangel benny and others i cant even remember all the names. they all spend time here and share their thoughts and analysis and have a good time, but the format seems to inspire, well, stagnation somehow.. not sure why. i never thought it was a good idea for a site to revolve around a news section, the way every major site has always tried to do. daily news is kewl but this site has things better than news, renewable resources like league analyses, strategic discussions including posts by good players that could have been archived, replays collections, links, etc. but most of the features being produce in this great site usually begin and end in some forum thread that dies only to be found if someone searches for it. there are many sections here but maybe some should be merged, removed, or moved, just maybe.. someday

I think that if TeamLiquid.net was a little more involved in the community, it would become alot busier.

TL.net is pretty much a gathering place for BW players.. but we come here and we dont really do anything.

Maybe tl.net could organize a ladder or weekly tournaments or something. Anything to really get people coming here to participate.
It would take alot of work unfortunately, but I think something like that would breathe a new life into the forum

Yeah I agree that tl.net should host some tournaments weekly so ppl can meet and have some good games . This would bring more discussions and would make the site more active...and also, I think a public replay section would be a good idea;;;

I could take care of a weekly tournament thing no problem.

A public rep section would be iffy though.maybe if you had a rule where only forum regulars could use it,like 600+ posts or something then it would be a bit safer from junk being uploaded.

Definetly need something happening in the rep section department though, currently its pretty bad

*shudders*

just get a few dedictated liquidites to moderate,if it turns out bw.com'ish,remove it.But i really doubt it will,i think its obvious bw.com community was far worse than tl,you'll know what i mean if you've ever read the comment section or the forum there.

Meat I could probably do organization for a weekly tournament.

The only problem is drawing people in. If one of site mods introduced the tournament as a TeamLiquid event, there would be a better tournout. Would make the forum more active, definitely lift the cloud of boredom thats been lingering lately

You could do neat things for the winner, too. Like making a little symbol for the winner of the tourney to wear for the week, like the #1 Liquibet's happy guy with trophy.

What do you think?

Well, personally i think weekly is way too much. Monthly is way better imo, or would you really want to spend every weekend MANY hours on running something? Really, when you run a tournament so many troubles turn up, like disconnects, hack accusations and much more. Also i think it would be better to keep it a bit special, that way some of the better players of the forums will also participate and not only the newbies.

How much experience do you have with running tournaments?

You're right about the monthly part that sounds much better.

I've been running the Friday Night Tournament for 6 weeks or so, but trance is doing this week's since i wasn't sure if I'd be there They're simple single elim 16-man tourneys, but they go smoothly and people have a great time

Running a tournament isn't really very hard.. You just have to keep track of things

so i can hold my own if tl needs help with it.

Stimey: I like your archive idea regarding comments by pros...

Grot: Excellent thought. RWAs seem very popular these days. I'll give it some thought. What's your MSN?

Trance/Steve: I like your ideas about a regular BW tournament. Would also provide opportunities for forumers engaging in flame wars to settle things through a duel on Neo FZ. We could make sure certain players get paired together.

Will give serious consideration to all of the above. Changes are a comin'.

An idea I suggested a few times before, it'd be interesting and might discourage some of the trashtalking. Of course both players would have to agree, or we'd have newbies trashtalking players just to get games with them.

If anything, it'd be fun to make reports about.. could potentially be even better than the Liquibition games.

A ladder is to much to take care of, plus it would just divide the community between TL and WGT.
A casual tournement once a week looks a lot better.

you could have a very slooow running liquid league, taking all the people who are willing to play now and then (hence "sloooow") and formatting it into a copycat league format as an excuse to post more reps much like liquibition

it would work like liquibition and probably wouldnt post many more reps than it already does, but it could add some fun because of the league format and ultimately after a few years there could be a champion

But, make that tournament at a time that European players can play in it too. I suggest like 4 PM EST (10 PM CET). That wouldn't pose a problem to you American people I reckon, as most school days are done at 4 PM (unless I'm mistaken because I'm pretty ignorant on that subject :p).

Please do, so I (and maybe other, skilled Europeans) can enter it to.

Which leaves all the people on the West Coast in school, staring the the clock.

Yeah this site is so stagnant, it needs more activity.
And by activity I mean, more people posting.

It's basically the same people still posting here, and if there were more people posting here, there's much more to respond to.

And hopefully, the newer 'generation' of TL posters won't be on the common grounds as idiots, and actually post cool stuff (as in stuff I don't have to yawn in - having seen it like 20 times on TL already).

Advertising the site does seem kind of weak, because then I'm sure it would be just suckers coming here to post idiotic stuff, then we'd need more admins to ban them off.

I was just thinking it would be better if we did some advertising by word of mouth? I've told a few people to post here, and when they did, they said they didn't really like it, and some thought it was cool, and still post here.

All interests.

i guess there just arent enough good ppl who are willing to spend time on a forum like this. the best posters are too busy to post frequently, and that's just that. i can only wish the better posters have less and less of their time wasted somehow. there are way too many bad posts now, which is why i want to squelch :/ but hey, im not a good poster either.

so mydnyte i just am not sure we can

I. increase the amount of good posters
II. increase the activity of the good posters

nor is it feasable to

III. decrease the activity of the bad posters

sure, i'll do my part to not make so many useless comments, but i dont think it will be enough. a few ppl in this respect are way too enthusiastic about ruining threads so carelessly with their smiles and general cuteness and fervent defense of c6-level advice

i actually dont have much idea how much newcomers post, but i do know we got much more visitors in a half year. Half year ago we were around 2500 unique people daily, now we are between 3500 and 4000. I think i will write something to see how much the new visitors post, if that turns out to be very low we have to think about what the problem could be.

Of course people that visit this site and don't post (much) are welcome to say why.
