Then I misunderstood your post, I thought you were trying to say that Manis post was "wrong" because Germany had a social security system first.

Eh, the ban was warranted of course but i cant really agree with this. The fact that the holocaust happened does not automaticly mean that modern germans cant have opinions or discuss the social welfare or faults in other countries social structure of today. Invalidating thier opinion because of the holocaust does not help anyone.
The ban was justified because he was expressing his way as an a-hole aswell as making a broad negative statement of en entire country with nothing to back him it up, not because he was not allowed to make that statement because of the holocaust.

Justified ban. Somewhat misinterpreted joke for the reason. Move on folks

I agree with the ban, the wording might have been a bit off, true.

When America was implementing social security, what was Germany doing again? Don't be an idiot. Definitely my favorite Mani ban of the night. As if senseless country bashing didn't already lead to an insta-ban, the irony is just the best of icing for the ban cake. While I don't really get Mani's ban reason, that post was especially appalling coming from a German person. A country where social responsibility and volunteer social action is pretty much nonexistent, especially compared to the United States.
On social responsibility I can agree, but that Germany would lack somewhat volunteer social action is highly exaggerated, if not even wrong. Germany has the highest density of volunteerly run clubs in the entire world, e.g. we don't have a hierarchy of 13 football division levels for no reason, so comparing it to the US where you can mainly do sports in school might be a bit wild.
Nevertheless country bashing remains stupid.

Count out the state and the church and there is next zero around here unfortunately.
And I was only pointing this out because the "US only thinks about themselves" is such a common theme among American bashing German idiots.

Yes, sadly that is true. I agree on that, then I misunderstood.

The mentioned line was indeed not clever, but I don´t think a ban was neccessary, a warning would have done it. What I really don´t like is answering that bad line about a country with just the same thing by referring to germany´s past. Both have the same meaning in my eyes, but one got banned.

Undoubtably, this is correct. By this argumentation, I, as an uninfluenced mind and observer(*), came to my conclusions above which may be hidden to mentioned moderators due to both their moderation histories and certain possible distinctions and therefore I felt I had to interfere... ;-)
(*) my own regional provenance may or may not play a role

Must... resist... urge to point out what the communists did at the 'same' (approx.) time. I'm no mod after all. (by which of course I mean that I don't know the moderation histories, I couldn't possibly mean something else)
But I will point out how people around proudly said they voted 'No', and they had 'United States' in their names, so the ban is kinda ironic. (not to say that they were all US or something like that, but the immediate neighborhood stood out for me)

Holy crap. I noticed that an entire page of bans sprouted overnight. Looking through the bans it looks like Mani has 16/20! That's crazy!
He's certainly on a rampage.

`GoKu was just banned by Nyovne. That account was created on 2011-02-01 21:08:09 and had 10 posts. Reason: You're stupid. Stick to the account which properly displays your moderation history on this site. Now I'm going to grab my smaller hammer and walk over to your other account and smack that around a bit as well.

BetterFasterStronger was just temp banned for 2 days by Nyovne.
That account was created on 2010-08-24 18:56:21 and had 277 posts.

If there was a rookie of the year award for moderation Nyovne would have that locked up for sure.

Thank god somebody shut the fucking hole on that Jstor guy.. I knew it that dumbass is a troll..

lol that was a pretty long tdot run.

Really unfortunate to see so many people banned over an avilo thread. If someone calls his opponent a faggot and then posts the replay, does he really deserve to get a meaningful discussion out of that? With immunity to criticisms of his attitude to boot?
|
Yeah, I'm a little surprised by that, as well.
