I'm glad to see you putting in so much effort despite the games you should be practicing for. Best of luck with your matches!
You have restored my faith in GOM once again.

It's nowhere near even less-popular sports like Curling outside of Korea. If Gretech really wanted to expand their market beyond the peninsula, this is a terrible first move. If they allowed re-streams, at the very least, it would be a huge boost to the scene. I don't think that that was sarcastic at all. He's just saying that you should make a new thread about it on GOM's website and have people respond, rather than posting about it here. Obviously 1000+ comments is not realistic but he probably just wrote a random number.

GSL is still copyrighted material so I would assume re-streaming is illegal. If there is something that you want and are not getting, create a post about it with logical options to make what you want possible and get 1000+ comments. I would highly encourage everyone to pursue legal methods in order to get what they want to help ensure the positive evolution and growth of GSL/e-Sports. He's just saying that re-streaming is illegal. It doesn't and won't stop people from doing it, but it won't be supporting GOM and what they are doing for Esports if everyone starts restreaming.

Sorry Gaggar, that was not meant to be sarcastic. I was merely trying to draw a parallel to this http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=149242¤tpage=81. The message I was trying to get across is that unlike OGN/MBC, GomTV wants to cater to the foreign audience as much as the Korean one and re-streaming won't help them do that. If there is something that a re-stream would provide that the legit stream doesn't, then we should work to make the legit stream possess that missing factor. Providing honest and frequent feedback will help to do this and that is what I'm urging people to do.

They are trying to learn from the mistakes of their counterparts, but also adopt the successful attributes as they can. What Junkka (GomTV rep and very manner fellow) has stated in his posts about the cost going to cover the stream itself is very true. It was simply because they were not aware of any alternatives at the time. We all know it was not the wisest or most researched decision to make, but they now have other options which they are pursuing in order to do what is best for the community as a whole. It is not because they “tried to squeeze e-sports dry” (or any other similar ideas) and failed, but because, as Junkka said, they are extremely understaffed while still trying to run one of the largest (and hopefully one of the best) e-Sports events in history. This makes me wonder why there were no alternatives at the time. If they are unorganized, understaffed or don't have a plan, then why is that? Do you know why they commit so little resources to this in comparison to the huge prize pool? Also, don’t necessarily expect anything official to come out for a little while, they are still working to provide an even better solution then what we are seeing now and may not want to make a statement they would once again have to retract. They recognize that while the additional US servers they are providing will help tremendously (as can be seen by the “Bandwidth Check” differences between yesterday and today), there is still a long way to go before everyone can receive ideal coverage of the event. Well, let's hope they can come up with something nice. Addressing a few common comments in the various threads: 4. A fully, free, ad-supported, true-HD stream is the goal, but keep in mind this is EXTREMELY short notice to run a tournament of this scale on *repeat* a very understaffed team. Saying things like “they should just get sponsors, it’d pay for itself” is completely known to them, but you have to have a marketing team already set and able to present your product to *foreign* (most employees speak no, or very little, English) companies that may have never heard of E-Sports before. This scares me a little. Not only are they apparently understaffed but to me it seems that they don't even have a business plan or model if there's no marketing team? If they are doing everything on the fly, I hope that there won't be any difficulties with the tournament or the streams because this could potentially be disastrous.

We should probably pre-empt this problem and try to watch restreams as much as possible, especially considering it seems they aren't concerned about ad revenue.
