i suggest people to pay the 20$ because it will help them alot and also help the players, after all we pay but in return we get to see our favourite players in action and be happy to see them win some money since pro-gaming scene are not strong income!
Exactly. A) They are being responsive to the 'community' and b) they are paying members of the community to be over there to play (if they place  ), and guys like tasteless and artosis to cast on the games.
If we are serious about SC2 becoming a successful e-sport we need to put some money where our collective mouths are. Money is important to e-sport and we need to part with some if we want it to grow.
The previous plan was a bit excessive, the 20/30 package. But GOM have now compromised and given us a better deal. I will, and I think others should too, show them support by parting with some (a tiny amount) cash.

I hope nobody restreams the HQ stream as this is gonna be a huge slap to the face of GOM.
We already have a free stream, lets support the GSL fully!

People will do it sadly. All we can do as a community is slap down anyone we know is doing it. Self-regulation can be effective.

I'm not buying it at all. If they said it wasn't a money making scheme and it was only used to cover the stream costs they wouldn't charge 50 dollars for live+vods. To stream across the world it'll cost them anywhere from 4 cents to 8 cents an hour. Assuming they give 3 hours of content a night, thats 24 cents per person, so they'd have to be giving over 170 hours of content at the highest price (8 cents an hour) even though we know they're not paying 8 cents an hour since their quality is 250 kb/s. All in all, if they planned ot have zero free stream and only a 50 dollar pay stream as the option for foreigners.
Theyw anted to make money otherwise they would have charged something like 3 bucks for the month to recover costs.

only thing missing now to make it perfect is LQ vods on youtube/blip whatever which i can show others. would be enough if they upload a selected few series of each week/day so people still gotta pay for the full vod access.

Read the GSL thread, today they decided to change the premium package to $19.99 which gives you access to the HQ live stream and all vods for this season. In addition they will be offering a free low quality stream to everyone.

Did the Bandwidth check today and I've gone from 266 to 2666. That's either quite an improvement or they were cutting one digit off yesterday.

They were reporting your KB/s instead of Kbps, but presenting it as Kbps. So yeah, they were about x8 off. It's not that the servers have been upgraded, it's just correctly reporting your real speed now.
