I didn't like Tiberian Sun at all to be honest but I'm downloading Red Alert and I'll give it a fair chance, since the general consensus seems to be that it's way better anyways.

I played this game for 2 years before RA3 and then sc and it's really hard on a good level. you played RA3 ? >_> or you meant RA2?

I loved C&C1 sooooo much and being able to run around in it FPS style was SO AWESOME OMG. When TS came out I felt like it had shat on one of my favorite games by totally altering the feel and world, but I might have to give it a second try. We'll see.

Has anyone else successfully installed RA on a 64 bit system? Oh, Red Alert won't install by itself. There is an installer that someone made that at least works for 64-bit Vista, but it only gets you the original game, no expansions. Google got me that last time I installed my copy of RA on this computer. I'm too lazy to look for it now though. Not sure there's any way to install the expansions on a 64 bit OS. The game runs ok once you get it installed though. Not sure how the Westwood-distributed copy works though, I was installing off of my actual CD.

edit: I ran the game with administrator privileges and the game launches, it just says please insert the cd-rom. Anyone else getting these problems? edit again: Got a CD crack, had to pull game.exe out of /program files/ so i could use the crack on it, put it back, and the game finally works.

Because it's so easy to lose hitpoints, this game is sooo slow.

It was for a time the daikatana of RTS, hugely anticipated but delay after delay. By the time it was released, technologically it was no longer impressive.
