Hi,
I use a logitech G5 mouse since about a year and a half and it fucked up 2 times in this period. The problem that happened to me these 2 times is that the mouse start to work intermittent for some times and not long after it stop working completely. I wondered if this is a chronic problem that happened to other people or if i'm just really unlucky, this problem happening to me with 2 different mouse.
I don't know if there are a lot of people that use this mouse on TL but I thought I would try to ask in case someone had a way to fix it.
Thanks for your help

I have it for almost 2 years and it has been working perfectly, no issues at all.

I use a G5 and it works great. I never had any problems with it, but I did run into one problem last week where my USB keyboard (G15) and mouse (G5) stopped responding. It seemed that my USB ports were resetting themselves, because I kept hearing the "USB disconnect" and "USB connect" sounds in Windows. After about 10 seconds it fixed itself, but that's the only issue I've ever had, and I don't think that's attributable to the mouse, probably more the fault of Windows or some USB hiccup or something.

That's really strange for it to happen twice to you. There could be some outside contributing factors (very low chance). Could be a hardware issue on that computer so definitely try the mouse on a different unit. It could be somehow related to hour your desk is setup, maybe the cord is being stretched or thinned out and over time kills the connectivity.
I've been using them for years (own a few) and never had an issue though, you must be bad luck with mice!

I think I've had this G5 for longer than 2 years by now, still working fine but the paints are starting to wear off and I had to put some tape around the part of wire that gets worn by the edge of my table to keep it from getting damaged.
I have no idea how to fix the problem though. =/

I used to have a different Logitech laser mouse (the MX400), and I had the USB disconnect and reconnect problem.
Try a different USB port. If that doesn't work, try using it on another computer to see if it's the mouse itself with the problem.
If the mouse doesn't work on another computer, just get another mouse

I have a G5, but I switched to a Razer DeathAdder for person reasons. They're both very good mice.
Definitely try it on a different computer, because then you know whether it's a computer problem or a mouse problem.

Thanks for all the replies, it seems in fact thats a pretty unusual problem. I've tried on other ports and other computer and it still don't work. In fact, the mouse gets contact with the computer but I get a pop up that says " USB device not recognized". And then if i click on help, it says "try reconnecting the device. If windows still not recognize it, replace the device" so... I don't think i can do anything to fix it :S . Anyway thanks for your fast replies i'll have to get used to some random other mouse for some time

This happens to me with USB flash drives all the time.
My G5 is working fine though.

I am a good mouse
my mechanics are a little bad because I am a bulkier mouse but i am a precision clicker with tons of endurance. Buy me and you won't regret it!

i use the G5s grandpa, the logitech mx500. have it since it came out, best mouse ever, no problems.
but yea you might need to try a different port

Mine works fine as well.
One problem i did have sometimes was that the right click button became very stiff and difficult to click, but that went away.

I just use a random generic mouse. Why is it that people are so elitist about their mice? I dont really think that the quality of the mouse could ever improve someones SC playing.

I was orginally using a Logitech Mx510 and then I got a Logitech G5 because it was on sale. I liked it a lot but switched to a mx518 because if i would 'alt tab' then my mouse would switch to 2000 dpi and I'd be on ICCup waiting for someone to join a game and then be browsing tl.net or something and alt tab when someone joins and I'd forget about the dpi thing and I wouldn't be able to spilt my probes at all.
Anyways, I used the Mx518 but I play in the basement and because of dust and the mouse having this weird coating and dirt sticking to it I decided to go back to my G5. I just try to remember to adjust dpi everytime I alt tab that its second nature to me now.

had it for about 3 years, not a problem

about a year and a half, and no problems here either. it works just as well as the day I got it, and it doesn't look worn either.
