From what I see, LATAM already has its "BSL" with $ 5,000 in prizes.
It seems that SC is booming there.
Congratulations guys! Good Job

So what is happening there? Casting hours aren't EU-friendly, so some kind of a recap from Spanish-speaking folks will be much appreciated

Apparently this tournament caused a lot of controversy. Originally, the rules stipulated that the entire tournament would consist of latam players, and contestants were expected to qualify by securing a position in the top 8 (which latam players ended up doing) but then Europeans, who didn't have to play any qualifiers, were invited and inserted into the final stage. Dandy didn't participate because of this. I think there was a sense of betrayal among latam fans/players that non-latam players were being privileged by getting invites to the final stage after the event rules had already been finalized and latam players had already completed the qualies. It's not my intention to create a bad public image around this event. I think it's a great opportunity for the game, players from both regions and fans/viewers. It's just that the controversy around this event is pretty well known in the latam community and people apparently were complaining about this aspect in the chat screen during the entire series.

That might explain FB's popularity? Viewership is very high there, so securing a sponsorship via advertisement appeal is possible, especially if you're a very popular streamer like Oli but financial support from followers/fans is quite low. You won't find many CRVTs or Purepats (who have donated thousands of dollars to supporting BSL and other events) there. So what the non-latam community lacks (very high viewership numbers in the thousands), it more than makes up for with financial/donating powers. Oli and most organizers in latam have no idea wtf they doing so, they do what they think is best, they should ask people with experience in this kind of stuff like zzzero or whoever else to avoid controversy... most of the organizers are not sc player nor involved in competitive gaming (aka they dont play at a high enough level) so they just go arround making tournaments with silly rules. the fan base for players like dandy, ultra, babo or terror is somewhat big here, so not having dandy in the final stages of a latam tour is hurting the tournament alot, i wish they learn from this shit and make thigs fair for every player involved in the future... top 8 of the tour had to grind 30 ladder games minimum to qualify so i understand why dandy said fuck this shit and quit the tour when he knew that EU players were going to play with no ladder stage and just a direct invitation. imagine having a ladder stage to find the top 8 foreign players, then when they have qualified, organizer says "ok, now we invite top 8 koreans to play, have fun".... basically the same, unfair, isnt it? the only good thing that came out of dandy leaving the tournament is that NbA got to play so the community got to watch how gosu NbA really is ^_^v

Whenever there's some big sponsor involvement organizers feel the pressure to out-do themselves so their POV is somewhat understandable here imo

Whenever there's some big sponsor involvement organizers feel the pressure to out-do themselves so their POV is somewhat understandable here imo that is exactly the reason why i said that they make silly rules seemingly out of nowhere. Ofc the more viewers the better, but if you think about it, the rapid growth in latam sc scene came to be cuz theres a lot of talented players here and the competition between countries, teams and players is actually fun to watch and follow, the narratives that sorround the latin american sc scene is fun as fk to witness if explained correctly. so, why would you reduce the chance to create some really epic narrative for a tournament finals (imagine chile vs peru finals, or terror vs dandy finals) and just invite players that have nothing to do with the region most interesting rivalries??... I understand that u may want to have the highest level of competition possible in every tournament that ure casting or organizing, but lets be real, most fans in latam can't tell WTF is going on in the game that they are watching, so theres no real value in bringing Bonyth or Sziky into the tour. Most fans can't tell the difference in gameplay, they are watching simply cause storms into hidras is fun + fun casting + patriotic feelings... Is not like Oli has the level of knowledge of an Artosis or a Nyoken when it comes to SC analysis so even him is not able to distinguish between A rank and S rank gameplay. People won't learn shit about the game by watching his casts but they will be for sure highly entretained during the whole broadcast. So, if this is the case, is there a real merit in bringing higher caliber players if you can't explain why the fuck they are so good? or if you can't explain why they are doing the things that they are doing during an sc match? not really... Actually i think that bringing players that are the best in the foreign scene to a tournament like this is hurtfull cause if Bonyth has to play vs any player that is not the very best of latam, that series is going be a rape and no, rape is not fun to watch... If you want to have the very best in your tournament for viewership reasons, at least make them qualify that way u make sure that u have the best of the best in your event not just drop em into the tour for no apparent reason. also, why eu players? why not NA players? or Kor players? that desicion just seems random and forced imo. btw, all four players invited are part of the SouL Gaming organization... why not iRk members or NaS members or Ash members or Red members or dM members? Dewalt not good enough? eOnZerg, that actually speaks spanish and has a following in latam, not good enough? Koget, Madinho or OyA are not good enough? i mean if you want viewers invite Artosis to play the damn event, viewership would explode in that case, or am i wrong? that would actually make more interesting games than Bonyth just stomping all latam players... it would be nice to have a clarification of the criteria used to invite players to this event, cuz for me it seems a little bit too convenient for some people... + Show Spoiler + but i know no one is going to explain shit, cause... who cares? after this post this topic going to die and all this shit is going to happen again and again

The problem with the the LATM lineup is that both Terror and Dandy play Terran so difficult to end up with an exciting line-up at the very end of tournaments if LATM-only players are invited.
