Hi,
I'm looking to polish this idea and I'm trying to extract the icons from the game. I mean all the icons showing the units, buildings and abilities on the game interface. (Also all feedback regarding the idea is welcome!)
I know it's possible via specific software that basically can "extract" or "unzip" the contents of the game from some data files, but I couldn't understand how on the past days.
I also checked on the internet to see if someone did this before, but even if someone did it, they didn't explain it very well or upload the materials to any site.
Anyone know how to achieve this?
Thanks!

Maybe just print screen on hotkey menu?

You could maybe use Liquipedia, or even then BWAPI Documentation which has them. Alternatively you can use one of many tools to extract them.

The thing is, your actual key shows on the top-left corner...

Thanks! I'll check everything and giving it a try. I'll let you know

Abilities can be extracted from Wikipedia easily, and I noticed that those are the images from Remastered... I wish I could meet the guy that added those there, since Units or Buildings don't appear on the articles with the images.

SC:R uses CASC like all Blizzard games now. You can extract those using CascView.
For your convenience I've uploaded all the command icons as a sprite sheet (including a yellow-ised version, although I probably used the wrong shade so they likely aren't exactly right).

OMG, Thanks!
Can I ask you a question? When you got those, each icon was an individual document/image?
The sprite sheet is amazing and the quality superb, but I will have to open the whole thing on Photoshop and cut EVERY SINGLE ICON and create a new document for it.
Maybe I'm asking for too much, but if you have all of them separated, can you send me the whole package via email or any other channel?
Thank so much!
PD:
Couldn't wait haha.
Now the abilities... T_T
I noticed some of the buildings are bigger or smaller than the media. The game shows them like that? Did you changed anything? Also some units and also buildings look more pixelated than others. Some are crystal clear and really smooth, and others seem like they're halfway between original and remastered haha.

They do start off as individual images, but they only come in the disabled state, so it was easier to assemble them and then colourise the lot in one go. PM'd a link to the sprite sheet split up.
I'm not sure about the fuzzy ones, I just dumped the file and didn't really look through which ones were what. Perhaps they were assets that were only in StarEdit and aren't used by the game proper so didn't get the HD treatment?

Yeah, I thought something similar, that maybe some icons were use on the editor, but the thing is... you have 2 CCs for example, and both of them have the same "issue".
Either way, it's hard to notice.
