I am realizing the importance of queue dodging when I have a very toxic team in champ select. Just about 100% of the time when I think the game is going to go terribly, it goes terribly, so I've started to queue dodge and I think I'm saving myself from a lot of losses and headaches too. On an unrelated note, I really think Riot needs to have a report feature and track chat in both champ select and after a game. People get really toxic there.
Now, of course I wouldn't dodge in promos (yet, someone explained to me why I should though), but I'm curious how often you guys queue dodge, if you do at all.

Less than once per month, even in rankeds. Most of the time I still get 10 to 15 minutes of 'normal' gameplay and then I can dick around for 5 minutes until we can surrender or realize the game isnt actually lost and we just need to mute each other.
Its just one loss, I dont even follow my lp count to know if Im close to changing divisions.

I should probably dodge, but i never do. I'm too stubborn :D

I only dodge when friends just come online, so we can play together.
I have too little experience in ranked (15 games), but never dodged there. In normals I just act like my teammates are bots and just practice. The only time I dodge is when friends i want to play with just came online.
Do you actually lose lp if you dodge in ranked?

very often, the most efficient way to climb the ladder is to main a few champs and dodge unfavorable lane matchups or any hint of trolling/toxicity in select.
Ideally you have a 2nd account to make dodge timers a non factor.
You don't even have to be a tryhard to ascribe to this, just ask yourself if you value your time and want to waste 20-30 mins for no reason. There is zero downside to dodging (even in promo) besides the timer. You do not lose any mmr, just lp.

Isn't there a bigger downside to dodging promos because it's an auto-loss? Sure, it doesn't count towards your MMR, but if you're 2-2 in promos to Silver V or whatever then dodging is guaranteed to be worse than not dodging.
From an expected value perspective, if you think you have around a 30-40% chance of winning, dodging is mathematically better for your LP assuming typical LP gain/loss. (For example, if you're gaining 20 LP and losing 15 LP, and you think you have a 35% chance of winning the game, your expected LP loss is -2.75.)
Plus you avoid the risk of going on tilt from an ugly loss.

Plus you avoid the risk of going on tilt from an ugly loss. Eventually you'll get enough MMR to just skip promos anyway and your math isn't accounting for the fact that the lower your mmr the less LP you get/win and the more you lose per loss. With enough time it's advantageous to dodge every time your chance of winning is below 50% LP-wise

I knew people smarter than me would educate me. I plan to queue dodge more now, especially versus unfavorable lane matchups.

Champ select is the most flame filled and flame-inducing part of league of legends. Its pretty easy to tell with like 90% accuracy whether your team is going to implode when slightly behind based on it.
My suggestion would be that, unless HideOnBush is on your team, dodge when champ select is bad.

As a support main, I have played like 10 games something else than support in the last 6 months. Maybe dodging my top games is actually a decent strat.

I dodge whenever I have to support a non-adc main with shitty adc winratios. Supporting some tool clueless how to play in bot is legit the only thing that can make tilt me in League.

Goes exactly the same if I'm about to play ADC with a clueless support.
Specifically I'm looking for death-counts on my potential support partner. Bad, passive play, I can deal with, but feeding is a no-go. If I see more than 6 deaths in a string of games, I'll take the hit and the timer instead.

I am not a pussy. I just flame everyone and get them to dodge if I don't wanna play the game.
