Group C went as predicted with Korean Terrans Polt and Bomber both advancing to the quarterfinals. TooDming, the last remaining Chinese player in the Ro16 - who was one game away from advancing from the winner’s match - was eliminated despite looking worthy of a spot in the next round. The Chinese Zerg showed plenty of potential today and will return as a serious contender next season.
While the USA suffered a heartbreaking loss to Belgium in the World Cup, Americans can still take solace in the fact that Captain America aka CMStorm.Polt advanced in first place. He managed to beat Check 2-0 in his first match, which included a tightly contested, action packed 30min+ game on Frost - one of the two best games of the night. In the winner’s match, Polt lost game 1 to a counter attack and was behind in both games 2 and 3 but still managed to pull out a narrow 2-1 victory to clinch the group against TooDming. In both TvZ series, Polt made good use of hellion/marauder harass and multi-pronged attacks, ensuring to clear creep for favorable engagements. Looks like all those games against Scarlett have really paid off.
After dropping his first series, Redbull.Bomber was ultimately able to advance in second place. After a swift loss to TooDming, Bomber would rebound in the loser’s match by crushing Check 2-0. The Redbull Terran would then go on to rematch against Toodming in the deciding series. In a bizarre game 1 on Merry Go Round, TooDming taught us exactly how to look good on paper but still lose a ZvT: he had creep on 80% of the map, was up 6 bases to 3 at one point, but just kept throwing armies away into a fortified marine/tank position. Essentially a brick wall, Bomber held his ground until he maxed out and simply made one decisive push at the 25min mark. In the final game on Alterzim, Bomber boldly went for proxy reapers and a hellion follow up which together netted over 50 drone kills. If there’s anything we learned about Bomber today, it’s that he hates clearing creep, building a 4th cc, and using mines. In the end though, it did not cost him a trip to the quarterfinals.
Tune in tomorrow for the final group of the WCS AM Ro16 featuring viOLet, MajOr, TaeJa, and Arthur!

And they said terrans needed a buff...

it's going to be nice to see some terran action in WCS NA, especially with fan favourites like polt and a teaja that appears to get a human being. also looking forward to major, ROOTing for him. hopefully violet may show his best to, would be nice since he really deserves it.

Because two of the best Terrans destroying medicore Zergs is an indicator of balance. and Bomber even lost his first series (because he played stupid)

Precisely this. I'm sure the game will be much more enjoyable with more Terrans, unless you only like watching ZvP, PvP or ZvP.

Ah, I wanted to get a ZvT course watching those games, but I was kinda disappointed with the games, especially from Check.
Better luck next time, I hope...

Yea i dont understand why he goes for gasless fast 3 cc, allows the zerg to drone up too easily

He won a Season Finals with the innovative strategy of not splitting marines against banelings, so maybe he's on to something here.

Normaly people say Terran is underpowered because there was only one Terran left in the GSL R8. So he wanted to say that Terran is OP because there are 3 Terran in the WCS NA R8 with a potential of being 5 Terrans after the last group.
Neither one of the statements showing if a race is overpowered or underpowered. It should just bring up the meaningless of such posts.

I'm going to be less cynical and assume he was just being a little cheeky with his comment.
OT: I was really dissapointed toodming couldn't finish it off. He's entertaining to watch.

3 Kori Terran in America lol .....next is Teaja and.....Kori again.....rofl

All the Kories. Just catched the two last Polt games, pretty interesting plays. Nothing revolutionary but he switched it up a bit from his usual single build.

I feel like i needed to tell my theory about this group of WCS NA. I feel like Bomber just planned to lose his first match because he wouldn't like to show his TvT builds in next match vs Polt whom he expected to win in match Polt-Check. You know WCS RO8 can have like 4-5 terrans and it means some TvT are finally going to occur. So probably Bomber was sure about his TvZ to let himself go easy on TooDiming first match. #mindgames!
|
TvT is going to be 8-8-8 vs 8-8-8 because no one has played the MU in months.

Yep i agree also think the same. Bomber lost on purpose his 1st match against TooD to avoid Polt. The way he played makes no sense at all unless he wanted to lose.

Hmm I want Major and Teaja to advance in Goup D. That would make 5/8 terrans^^
|
Next steps :
major and taeja qualify in next group, a disgrunted protoss write a 100 000 words wall of text and david kim buffs zealot charge.
Anyway, too bad Toodming couldn't make it, the more chinese in big tournaments the better for sc2 imho..

I've found terrans to be the biggest whiners...even when they've been op and zerg to be the least whiny with protoss somewhere in the middle
