Will you and the event organizers commit to donate all proceeds, excess of the costs and overhead, to charities outlined?
yes I think we stated that clearly enough in the opening post already that we take nothing for ourselves and everyone working for the event is doing it voluntarily, aside from the casters and players even paying for their own travel costs.
Will you and the event organizers commit to a public listing of all costs, expense and revenue, of this event? We will release the amount of revenue of the stream, we will also release the amount of leftovers of sponsoring and ticket sales after expenses. For those charities / donation methods where it is not possible to get live stats (i.e. which have no online fundraiser tool like charity: water) we will release the amounts donated as soon as possible.
I cannot recall a single charity event in StarCraft 2 scene with such significant listed overhead costs. It's up to you to demonstrate to the Community that this format is a better, more efficient form for charitable fundraising, in comparison to a regular, online charity drive. Failure to do so will only discredit your efforts.
Okay there is overhead costs. Now if we compare an online stream to an live event, what is the revenue model of an online charity fundraiser? It is the revenue generated by the stream advertisements + viewer donations.
Now if you read our thread carefully you will have noticed that we don't touch those things for the overhead costs so like in an online stream we have 100% efficiency in those parts. And with the higher production values possible with a live event we might attract more viewers than an online stream.
Now on top of that we also have sponsorship money (which in our case we wouldn't have for an online event) and the entrance tickets, which as we stated from the beginning will be used to cover the unavoidable expenses but the remains are a plus compared to an online event. (Unless you make the faulty assumption that everyone buying a ticket would have donated even a fraction of that in average when it had been a online streaming event.)

I am sorry if my concerns had appear combative or slanderous. I have no personal problem with CK-99 or the event organizers there. I am a fan of TLO and TBO, and aware that CK-99 is the venue for one of the first BarCrafts in EU. I appreciate what you guys have done in the past for the European scene.
This event utilizes limited Community resources in the name of charity. You guys are trying a new charity drive format foreign to our scene. While innovation is good, it's up to you to prove to us, your audience and contributors, that this format works better in a non-combative way. If I have question marks over why the overhead is necessary and where the money goes, others will too, and addressing the concerns will improve your event's chance of success.

Rooting for ReaL, I like his charity.

Great map pool! You are definitely doing that part right! I wonder where you got it from

We at the CK-99, are next to ReGame.tv one of the main sponsors for the event. We will provide all needed PCs for the Players, Casters and we even bought an absolutely new one for production purposes. In addition to that, additional personel is needed (6 hours early compared to the usual time, people to dont work for free) and we have to close down the venue for the public that whole day, not to mention all costs for power etc.
I will not give out specific numbers, but I can tell you that is a lot of money and time everybody is putting in to make this event a success.
I organized the Battle in Berlin 2011 and I can tell you one thing. Getting all this stuff I just mentioned costs shittons of money and everything will be provided for free so the organizers of the HEAT Charity tournament do have so little costs to worry about.
So before going all hostile on them I would kindly suggest to give them the benefit of the doubt
On a personal note (which is my own personal opinion): Even if this event generates only as much as 10$ it will already be a success. Saying "but you could have done way more if you just had ..." is not really the important thing. Was there ever a combination of a Starcraft 2 Charity event a offline location?

hi guys,
i have three spare tickets to the heat event. unfortunately me and my friends cant make it, so if anyone of you wants to participate in that event and is still looking for tickets: just pm me!
keep up the good work, greetings daemlack.

For all the german fans out there:

this event is going to be awesome. I hope TLO does well he is practicing so hard at the moment.

Real's charity is water? xD I find that hilarious for whatever reason. Water is nice and everything but I'm not sure if throwing money into the water will do anything but destroy the money. =(

ReaL charity is funding digging up wells for those remote locations. (If i'm getting this right)
