It’s a good thing to empathise with people which don’t have the same chances as we have. It’s very important to keep their miseries in mind and to WANT to do something against it. And these guys here DO something. Those commendable people really should be encouraged in any possible cases.

I really like the map pool on this one. Other than that I'm really looking forward to seeing how well the whole observer splitscreen system will unfold!

The topic only mention stream revenue, but the event also sell live ticket at 12 Euro each. Where does the entry fee go?
Thank God and gunrun.

Tarson is in Millenium team house in France with Stephano Bling and Adel, so i wouldnt call him "inactive"

One assumes the venue has to be paid for, equipment hire and so forth too.

No they aren't paying me, before you ask, I doubt anyone's getting paid for this.

Glossing over this in the tournament information bothers me.

You can expect [...] a small surprise (really would like to announce it already but it just isn’t in a state yet where we can do it; lets just say it’s something nobody else did before, just a small thing though)

I'm curious! When will it be announced?

So the entry fees do not contribute to the charity effort?

Cyanide_kcn[S] 1 point 2 minutes ago
afaik it is to pay the location, the staff isn't paid at all, so don't worry. Even TB flies in on his own. The whole stream revenue as well as the sponsor's money will go towards charity

I have a problem with the way this charity event is set up. In fact, I have three:

  1. The entry fee from the live audience does not contribute to the charity effort, and the event information did not spell this out explicitly. This may mislead some community members to thinking they're contributing to the fund raising efforts when purchasing the tickets.
  2. Unlike most StarCraft 2 fundraisers, this event has a cost overhead, paid for using the fund raised. However, this charity event did not has an explicit breakdown of the said overhead. While we the Community generally don't generally expect a cost breakdown for every tournament, it's the onus of a fundraising organizer to reassure our philanthropy are not wasted.
  3. If it's possible that majority of the money the Community spent on a charity event does not actually reach charities, can the event honestly advertise itself as a "charity event"?

All it takes is one screw up for our community to turn against charitable efforts in its entirety. I hope the organizers would clarify and reconsider how they plan this event out.
Thank God and gunrun.

I appreciate your concerns but we mention what we do with the entrance tickets explicitly in the announcement:

We try to keep the expenses as low as possible but there is some costs which you can’t avoid even if everyone organising it is doing it for free. This is mostly travel expenses for the Players and Casters and equipment rental, so parts of the sponsorship money and entrance ticket revenue will be used to cover those expenses, anything which is left will be also distributed accordingly. ... look up the "Tournament Details" section if you don't believe me... and yes it's been standing there all the time and not edited in just now.

So yes unlike an online stream there is more overhead but about unlike what you claim we communicate them very transparently.

Will you and the event organizers commit to a public listing of all costs, expense and revenue, of this event?
Will you and the event organizers commit to donate all proceeds, excess of the costs and overhead, to charities outlined?

I cannot recall a single charity event in StarCraft 2 scene with such significant listed overhead costs. It's up to you to demonstrate to the Community that this format is a better, more efficient form for charitable fundraising, in comparison to the traditional online charity drive. Failure to do so will only discredit your efforts.
Thank God and gunrun.
