I was wondering too but :

A. Multiplayer matches are available through the custom game interface. Click Multiplayer at the top left, and then create or join a custom game. Available maps will be shown at the top of the list. Starter Edition players are restricted to Terran-only for custom games.

Soon SC2 will be F2P like HON and LoL. I can't wait. SC2 fanbase is WAY too small to compare to those games, and the barrier to entry for SC2 is WAY too high.

It's a nice step. But it would have been nicer to: - Give all three races. - Access to ladder. - Access to all maps.
Then disable Singleplayer. From there they can apply microtransactions to: - missions - decals - portraits - challenges
I think that works best.

The only part of this I agree with is the three races. Everything else I completely disagree with.

And then you'll be forced to purchase various units to be able to use while laddering through microtransactions.

It should be pretty obvious why they picked terran and not another race currently. If they did this during HotS the 1 playable race would be zerg. But since it's during the terran-themed part of the trilogy, it's terran. It's not about favorites.

Why should anyone buy SC2 then?

Bullshit! The barrier are ~25-35€ and you get a great singleplayer campaign and the best Mulitplayer ever. I hope SC2 never goes Free2Play.

Well, watching any replay is kinda cool. But since CD-Keys are associated to Bnet accounts instead of installations not very useful to owners.

Anyway, quick question (I also posted in the official blog site):
Q. If I have this Starter Edition, can I load up credits through the prepaid service anytime so I can access the other stuff when I want?
|
So, who will I be playing against in this starter edidtion? only terrans with other starter editions? or random players from the bnet, but then what league?

access to 3 game max per day, on ladder, would be a very smart move

this will boast the amount of Terrans even more but anyway, nice

I assume most people don't play much more than 3 games a day anyway.

This seems like a good idea, I just wish they released it before I purchased a copy of SC2 for a friend who never gave it a shot. Ah well, at least I helped esports.

omg replay watching ftw. before i bought the game i really wanted to be able to do this. i wonder if there will be a HotS and LotV version of the starter edition

Ugh, so it's only TvT then? Well at least I can use it to watch replays. :-/
