I myself like sci-fi more (not to say I like all the shit I posted) but, old style swords and bows and spells doesn't appeal to me at all except for a few things. Sci-Fi is more realistic/plausible to me, therefor it's easier to relate with. Example; It's a fact that no one can create fire with their hands and then throw it. However, in the present time there are such things as flamethrowers. Tech beats magic any day imo.
Also, Sci-fi can usually make you think and open your mind to things that you maybe never thought about before. Fantasy is just an escape from reality and its all the same recycled stuff.
I think of Fantasy as more kiddie stuff.
Poll: Worse (Vote): Sci-Fi (Vote): Fantasy (Vote): Don't like either (Vote): Love both
Starcraft initially didn't appeal to me because it was sci-fi (after all i started on warcraft 2). It just appealed because It was an RTS and it was made by blizzard. The universe is way way secondary from game play.

yes, I think the same as the OP.
The fantasy kind of things, relates more to magical and mystic things, which is related to kids or more like nerdier stuff. :o

For these reasons, Sci-Fi is more nerdy. The appeal of sci-fi is generally limited to the 15-35 Male crowd, whereas the appeal of Fantasy is often multi-dimensional, appealing to different groups for different reasons.
WoW has made fantasy the nerdy theme by excelence so, until Blizzard comes up with a World of StarCraft, i will vote for fantasy... Just because all the kids masturbating to their night elves characters.
Superhero movies are getting quite popular these days, and they are more sci fi than fantasy. But they are pretty hard to categorize imo.
Characters created in the 1960s often used pseudo-scientific origins because science was a pop culture fad at the time, in the context of the intense period of the global Tech race. Compare them to the Superheroes of the 1930s (Batman, who was a traumatized child, Superman, who was an alien, or Wonder Woman, who was a Greek Goddess.)
Wait so what is your point? Or are you just emphasizing mine?
PS- lol, im just glad I got Moltke to post in a thread.
btw, most of my friends are probably Fantasy over Sci-Fi. They all like Wc3, Dota, and wow. And from the time wc3-wow came out they always told me to stop living in the past while I played broodwar (kind of ironic if you think about it).
