I've been making maps ever since I first got into this game, and this here is one of my better ones. I'm sure you all are aware of the Chain of Command map made by MM-Guild.net. I like the map. More accurately though, I like the idea. So I made my own, removing and adding parts that I, and the many, many testers thought would make it more fun and competitive. Many hours were spent playing this map to balance and alter the gameplay for the aforementioned reasons.
Nobody who has played it thus far has called it a piece of shit, which is a good thing I guess, it has 4.5 (out of 5) stars on modsc.com (where some guy who was playing basically said "hey upload it there man kthx" and I did), so I thought I'd share it with you all.
Who knows, maybe this post will get people playing it on UMS. Its a wonderful feeling when someone is playing your map and you didn't even ask them to host it.
For those of you who aren't aware of Chain of Command, here's how it works:
The Objective:
Two teams, red and blue, each consisting of one General (Archon) and at most three Commanders (listed in order of promotions: High Templar, Tassadar, and Fenix (Dragoon)), must fight and eliminate the other team's General.
The Gameplay:
The General distributes his men among the three commanders as he sees fit. Violence ensues. Moving men to control the various areas of the map earn your team's General Vespene Gas, which he uses to buy special units that will complement his army. Since you only gain gas when you take control of the point, both teams must strategize and allow one another to gain certain areas so that they can be taken back, which gains the necessary Vespene Gas to buy the special units. This helps to keep the game moving... at least for people who don't suck at the game.
Also, every 45 kills the General can issue a promotion to one of his Commanders. Every 50 kills, the General is given a Captain (Dragoon) to give to his Commander of choice.
Hope you like it. Let me know how it goes.
PS
special thanks to my main map testers (i.e. the guys who spent the most time playing it with me, provided all sorts of colorful suggestions that were added then later removed because they sucked or kept because they were ingenious, and came up with all sorts of strategies to win):
