I remember the days back in 5th grade, the Pokemon Era~ I was a maniac. Pikachu alarm clock, Pokemon posters, Blue AND Red version with 2 game boy colors with the link cable to catch all 150, cards; I had it ALL. Every day, I'd get up at 6:40 in order to watch another new episode - what would it be this time? A Squirtle? Eevee? What will team rocket invent this time? An electic-proof pikachu container, or a disguised device to mass-capture that rare and new pokemon for the mysterious boss? Nah...maybe they'll finally invent a parachute for all those times they've gone blasting off again. It was pure bliss. Every day, I'd go to school looking forward to discussing new episodes, new pokemon cards, ANYTHING pokemon related since 90% of the school was into Pokemon. I even remember when the exalted yellow version came out. All stores were sold out, even Toys 'R' Us! My father specially ordered a version for me so that I'd be guarenteed a copy soon. Yes, life was great. My imagination held no limits. I would go home every day after school greeted by Mom and Mr.Mime's cooking. In my dreams, I was a pokemon trainer, aspiring to become #2, below Ash Ketchum. We would battle all out, with Ash's Pikachu raping my Raichu 3-0. Damn Pikachu imba...
Anyway, share your own memories of Pokemon (if you had any), or just comment in general . I dont know about elsewhere, but the east coast was obsessed for maybe 3-4 years.

I used to steal red/blue from my lil brother and sister and play it. Was fun for a bit. But then I turned 12 and became to old for that stuff.
Now I do real mature things like play bw endlessly and spend every dime I have on a PS3.

some mates in school and me, we some day found out that school sucks and that you can easily play game boy in class. problem was: action games weren't ideal, because you had to stop playing, when you or your neighbour talked with the teacher or when our headmaster or sb else came in; so we needed a slow game. the only game that fitted in was pokemon, so two of my friends and me started playing pokemon when we were 17 ololol but it rocked, we finished the game (=getting all pokemon) within 10 days iirc, only playing in class was fun though
PS: our grades didn't suffer =)

hmm I plyaed it 11 years ago with a group of friends when the versions were red and green. Battle all the time with gameboy connector cable. A few of us were storing mewtwos then resetting the game, getting more mewtwos, to the point where it became 6 on 6(?) mewtwo battles --;;.
I remember us playing during the recess / lunch breaks during japanese school :O It was a lot of fun, and then all hell broke loose with the cards, the sequels, the anime, everything other than the original, which was actually quite a good game.

haha i have a feeling he just finished the storyline, not collect 150. (or 151)

I used to play the cardgame (I liked Magic: The Gathering too at one point), played the gameboy games, and occasionally watched the cartoon show. I don't think I let it get too crazy. Some people go truly nuts on fads.

i had blue, and my neighbor had red i would go over to his house and we would trade pokemon after playing it during school. i also had the japanese pokemon cards while my neighbor had the american ones, and we would trade them while sitting on the road between our houses.
oh the fun of being so young again! i do not find anywhere as much pleasure in going to parties and getting trashed as in having my articuno fly me to cerulean city and to the viridian city docks where i'd board the ss anne for a nice long cruise away from my troubles (or into them, as i would always find out)!

I remember waiting in lines at the mall for an hour or so, it was really an incredible site. And oh god that feeling of getting a new holographic card was just sex. I have lots of other random stupid memories like when I found out about the rare candy trick in the Red game, as well as dragging my parents to that retarded movie they originally came out with (came with some new gay free card -_-; hurrah!' But my last memory of the whole thnig was after it turned gay, I sold all my holographics(about 20) to a friend of mine for 15 bucks ;; lol, you guys remember those selling books they had? Told you the value of the cards and shit..I used to always think who the fuck out there is actually going to spend 50 bucks for my blastoise?

Back in the old days, my friend had a Mew card and it got stolen by these kids who were a grade above us. Bear in mind that a grade/1 year makes a HUGE difference when in elementary so we weren't sure what to do. Anyways, so this guy and his cronies come along and start taunting my friend who had had enough of it and picked up this big oak branch and started beating the hell out of the guy. His friends ran off and grabbed a teacher and i starred in horror, not at the sight of the kid's face, but the now ripped Mew card.
I realized the punk had ripped the card and in my new found fury for that rare card, kicked him in the side while he was down...Thats how i roll, kicking people while they were down.
My friend got suspended for two weeks, me 3 days and they banned Pokemon cards....it was a sad day

Dragonite Zapdos Gengar Mewtwo Mew Dugtrio were my staple six in Pokemon Blue

I still have all my Pokémon cards. They have some sort of sentimental value to me, as it was a big part of my childhood along with DBZ. I had the yellow game boy version that I played in my SNES back in the day. Damn those were the times .
