I've been away for over 5 months now...and currently I am in Vienna.
It's been a mad time. I've been to Rome, Milan, here and I'm going to be heading on to Prague next and then Berlin, followed by Amsterdam.
I'll be doing all of those countries from now until the 11th of November.
So can anyone who has been there/lives there tell me what would be worth checking out.
I like all types of music, especially dance/techno.
I've met some cool people on this trip so far, hopefully it'll continue this way.
I've met a lot of Americans in the hostel I'm at in Vienna called 'Wombat's' and a lot of them are quite arrogant and rude. It's a bit bizzare.
But yeah otherwise it's been magic.
So, any thoughts you crazy Europeans?

are you backpacking? my family keeps encouraging me to do this someday, im wondering what it costs. its not something id to til after i finish college, cuz i cant afford another semester off.
my uncle told me a funny story about his travels there. he ended up going to visit a lot of asia as well. i forget what country exactly, but he ended up in a sea-bordering country on the pacific. he stayed there for a around a year, living in a shack on the beach for about 10$ usd a day. he was a certified scuba diver, so he would give lessons to tourists, whod tip him as much as 50$ a session. needless to say, he made a shitload of money and was told by the govt to get the hell out or become a citizen and pay up.

i imagine that flying is a lot cheaper than going by train most of the time. depends on if you can find a direct flight or not.
why aren't you going to munich? big mistake! ^^;;
if you were in milan, did you visit the wcg?

look out in those czech/slovakian hostels

Go to Sir Toby's in Prague and ask for a lot of advice. Beware of negros in downtown prague. Never let yourself be led anywhere. If the prices don't seem right, they're not. Don't pay service charges in restaurants and don't pay taxi drivers for fixed rates. Don't try to free-ride on public transport and insert your ticket at the top of escalators before you enter subways. Keep your wallet in sight and never leave any valuables anywhere unattended, including your hostel room if you are sharing. That ought to cover it. HF.

hm asta I had a free trainpass for 1 month that covered like 80% of europe and that only costed me about $500 also had to pay like $10 for seating on some of the trains but I cant imagine travelling by plane would be less expensive than that

hmm ok that sounds like a reasonable price. i think it's different if you're buying single tickets though. maybe that's only in germany but train is almost always the worst choice here (unless you consider taking a taxi to the next country that is). if there is no flight then i'd try to find a lift on the internet (there are special websites).
