What is this?
This, dear reader, is what will motivate YOU to play StarCraft II again. Why?
You like to hang out in LR threads and talk about games with fellow viewers while at the same time not wandering the dark woods of Twitch chat, don't you? (He said wood hhehehe)
That's why LR threads were created! And now you have a chance to compete against your fellow LR regulars in actual games of SC2.
What's that? Anxiety? You're nervous? You should be! Everyone that posts in LR threads is secretly GM on the Korean server. However, I'm sure nobody will play up to their real skill level, otherwise their strategies will be traced back to one of the many barcode accounts on the KR ladder and they will be build order sniped in tournaments.
So yes, the stakes are high! But I believe in you.
Who gets to play?
You get to play. This is supposed to be giving back to community members that regularly interact with each other on TeamLiquid. So for the sake of keeping it this way, you must have at least 500 posts on TL to participate. If you have fewer than that but would still like to participate, I may be convinced otherwise!
Your league does not matter!
Lichter's E-genital measuring contest will serve a purpose here. The two most popular contestants from both EU and NA will receive a wildcard seed into this tournament. Should they be unable to play then seeds move down the popularity ladder. This will guarantee that some of you will get to play games with your most beloved TeamLiquid forum idols!
It's fine to race switch after a series but not in between games. You have to contact your next opponent about it immediately after playing a series if you want to switch and let them know.
When will this happen?
Each weekend of January will feature LRSL games.
NA groups will be played on 4th/5th and 11th/12th of January.
EU groups will be played on 18th/19th and 25th/26th of January.
The format
The LRSL will be split into two regions, NA and EU. That way timezones become less of an issue and the organizing work is conveniently split between two admins per region. Each region will play GSL format with 4 groups of 4 players, Bo3. Top 2 of each group advance to the merciless bracket stage of death, where they will play Bo5s. The Finals will be a Bo7 and there will be a deciding mini-bracket for 5th place. Why?
Because the top 5 of each region advance to the Global Finals which will be played in two groups of five players each. Top 2 of each group advance to the Baller Bracket (Bo5; finalized term) where they will do battle to decide the ultimate LR monster, culminating in a Bo7 Grand Finals. There will also be a 3rd place decider.
Initial groups for both regions as well as the Global Finals will be randomly drawn (with the exception of the two regional champions, who will start in different groups at the Global Finals)!
What's to win?
GLORY and more esports dollars than you could spend in a lifetime. The LRSL champion will be a legend among men. LR posters all around the world will know your name and pride themselves knowing that they lived during your age.

The map pool includes 3 well known, proven recent ladder maps in Frost, Belshir Vestige and Whirlwind, 2 all time classics in Daybreak and Cloud Kingdom and 2 community maps picked by The_Templar who is known for working on maps himself. AND FRUITLAND FFS. Here's the full map pool.
