Eight players advance through the Challenger League to next season's Premier League
ESL blazed through the bracket phase of the Challenger League in a week, selecting eight players to play in next Premier League season. Acer.MMA, LIquid`Ret, Acer.Bly, Grubby, Mill.Dayshi, c.Shuttle, XMG.ToD, and d.Tefel advanced to the highest tier of of European competition, with Season 2 set to begin next month.
There was not much upheaval, with six of eight advancing players being ones who competed in this season's Premier League already. However, the few upsets that did happen to occur were quite jarring. Alliance.NaNiwa, the DreamHack runner-up, lost in a shock 0 - 2 series to Dignitas' Tefel. Tefel had fought his way up from the very bottom through the Challenger League qualifiers, and earned a well deserved spot by defeating three Premier League players in Titan, Krass, and Naniwa in his Challenger League Bracket.
Additionally, Premier League caster XMG.ToD decided it was time to leave the casting booth and return to the player's desk, taking out EG.ThorZaIN.RC to secure his Premier League spot. ToD had also worked his way up from the Challenger League qualifiers, and defeated a different trio of Premier League players in Socke, Slivko, and ThorZaIN to earn his spot in the next season.
Not all hope is gone for the defeated players, however. The "Up/Down" stages of the Challenger League remain to be played in the upcoming weeks, with all of the bracket stage losers returning for a second chance. Sixteen spots still remain in next season's Premier League, and there are opportunities a plenty for Nonames and fan favorites alike.

Yeaaaaaah Ret, take it to em! WP to ToD as well. Now cast your own games somehow :D
Hope Thorzain gets through as well (I am reading it correctly, he is still in right?)

Achievements of Dayshi in the last couple of days : - Gain a spot in M-cup via a qualifier defeating most notably Arthur, Tefel and Sting. - All kill of Quantic (korean-only roster including HyuN x2). - Gain a Premiere League spot defeating finale, HasuObs and Strelok. - Gain my love.

am i the only one that feels this rushed challenger league format (1 week), takes away some of the fun of this LEAGUE and takes away preparation time for the players?? I find more entertaining the korea Challenger league/code A, with more time between matches.

Well, nice to see MMA back in Premier. Hopefully he does better next season.
And hopefully they let ToD continue casting

I agree with you, it seems like WCS EU is putting all of the focus on the Premier league and is just treating challenger like a qualifier instead of a part of the tournament. They even stream challenger on a different WCS EU twitch channel.

They play out GSL-style Dual Tournament groups where the top two advance advance to the Premier League, third place stays in Challenger League, and the last place drops out of WCS completely.

Given that this stage format is set up in the line of '1 out of 5 players wins and nobody loses', I think it was ok. Maybe a day of rest between the games would be nice, but in the end this is only one of two qualifier rounds for the real attraction.

Poor naniwa, but glad to see ret and grubby go through.
ToD is going to be intolerable if he keeps casting (i am kidding, he seems like a fine gentleman).

I was just going to mention that every time I see Dayshi pop up he seems to be beasting someone. Could be someone to keep an eye out for breakout performance going forward.

Dayshi's stats/online performances are crazy, but the most memorable moment he gave me was playing greedy twice in a row against Leenock at DreamHack

i lol'd at how tod just decides to be back in the tourney after casting it, and takes out thorzain.
pretty impressive upset, keep it up
