Game Information
Rules:
Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account. 11. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM. 12. Posting a false role PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Posting:
Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.
Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Activity: You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.
Encryption: Everything you post must be legible to all players. This is for the same reason we all use English here.
Smurfs:
On April 26 2011 13:22 mikeymoo wrote: Smurfs must PM the host because TL doesn't allow multiple accounts otherwise. If the host is unaware of smurfs, you (and/or your smurf) can be banned for having multiple accounts.
Spam: Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Do not discuss Proleague here. Do not talk about Starcraft II here. Play Mafia here.
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
You have been warned.

Out of thread communication:
It is common for mafia to use a medium outside of TL such as QuickTopics or IRC to communicate during the game. Please be mindful that other players may be more tech savvy than you and they may attempt impersonate members of your team or attempt to infiltrate your chat. You use these media at your own risk.

Voting rules:
1. Voting is done in a separate thread. Please keep votes there, and only vote there. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Qatol. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game. 5. In the event of a tie the person with the most votes first wins (or loses). 6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
Unless otherwise specified, Lynch voting is Majority Lynch. A player must have votes equal to the number of players alive divided by 2 +1.
Signups:
This game is open to anyone. Signups will remain open until all spots have been filled.
Game-specific rules:
Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game.
Replacements This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until Day 2. If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Clues: There are no clues.
PMs PMs are not allowed in this game.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a 48 hour day/24 hour night cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Actions/votes will be accepted up to and including the posted time, but not after. Credits: Thanks to GMarshal for help with the setup design
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I will not compensate for ignorance!
This game is a Semi-Open Setup. The following list contains all the roles that might be in the game. Not all the roles in the list may be in the game.
Town Roles: The Following roles win with the town. The Town wins when all threats to the town are eliminated.
Settler: You settled in the big city looking for opportunity, but found yourself caught up in a real big mess! You better find out who the cult members are before they go too far and kill everyone!
Ghoul: Same PM as above, but will return Guilty to all detective checks. Is not self aware because he believes himself to be human.
Wasteland Explorer: You are a hardened survivor of the wastes. It will take one extra KP to kill you.
Sheriff: As the Sheriff of this fine(ish) city, you spend each and every day keeping the peace and making sure nothing gets too out of hand. You may inspect a player each night and determine if they are Innocent or Guilty. Spending so much time next to an unexploded atomic bomb has left your sanity... in question.
Naive: Checks Always returns Innocent Paranoid: Checks always return Guilty Insane: Checks will always be the opposite of what they would have been Sane: Checks will be normal
Ex-NCR Sniper: The time has come to take matters into your own hands, and remove these crazy "children of the atom" from your town. You have 1 bullet you may fire at night at any player. If your shot overlaps with the mafia shot, you will be returned your bullet.
Mercenary: You have no stake in anything that happens in this god-forsaken town, but you and your gun will go where the money is. You may fire your gun at any point 24 hours prior to the lynch to instantly kill a player. You may do this by typing ##Shoot: Player in the thread. You may not shoot Day 1.
Paranoid Settler: You have noticed the weird activity in town and have decided that the end is coming, and it can only be stopped by taking careful watch over your fellow town members. Each night you may choose a player and watch them , revealing anyone who visited them that night.
Deputy: You just got the job assisting the Sheriff in town. You are not very experienced, but you can still follow tracks. You can track anyone at night and see exactly who they went to visit.
Doc: Your time in the war has taught you to prevent death. Each night you may visit someone and protect them from one instance of any danger. Your target will know that your prevented a hit on them as will you.
Malfuncioning Protectron: You are a bit Broken!! Each night you may "Protect" someone by throwing them in the town's jail. They will be unable to perform actions, but will be unable to be actioned upon. Your target will not be notified if they were protected from a shot in this way because of the concussion.
Engineer: You have explosives and you are not afraid to use them! You have 2 bombs. You may plant 1 each night and move them around as you please. If you ever die, your bombs will explode, killing the players they are on. If you die to the lynch your bombs will be found, and become duds.
Armorer: You take care of the local armory, but you don't trust any of these settlers with any of your tools. You are going to have to save the town yourself. You can act as a Medic, Veteran, Mason, and Vigilante... but not all at once and not more than twice. You may use two of these three powers during the game: Protect, Mason, and Shoot. You may use the same power twice. Note that your Veteran life is not passive like that of a true Veteran's; you must choose when to activate it, and if it isn't used (as in, you aren't hit that night) it goes away.
Radio Announcer: You control the local radio station! each night you may select 1 player and communicate with them throughout the day. You will need stop communicating with this player after that day though, as your signal could be tracked.
Cult Roles: The Following roles win with the Children of the Atom. The Cult's win condition is to have the cult # equal or outnumber all other players in the game.
Child of the Atom: As a worshiper of the god Atom, you want to convert all of the non-believers by showing them the power of the unexploded atomic bomb in the middle of the city. However there are those that stand in your way. Eliminate them for the glory of Atom!
Cult Scientist: You hack into the police mainframe and frame people! you cause any checks on a player to return the opposite that it normally would.
Confessor: You are the leader of the Children of the Atom! You can make yourself appear as any role and alignment you wish!
Mercenary:You have no stake in anything that happens in this god-forsaken town, but you and your gun will go where the money is. You may fire your gun at any point 24 hours prior to the lynch to instantly kill a player. You may do this by typing ##Shoot: Player in the thread. You may not shoot Day 1.
Arms Dealer: You have all the tools...For the right price. And that price was met by the Children of the Atom. You really don't care about their "Atom God" or exploding the bomb or whatever, you just want some caps and not to be there when it happens.
Cult Treasurer: You may use your vast funds to further your cults objectives. You prevent someone from using their night action at night! They will be informed they were roleblocked (vanilla town will be informed as well).
Switchboard Operator: You control the local communication lines to and from the town. After severing them on orders from the Church, You now have the power to control who talks with who, and more importantly who talks with You. Each night you may choose a player to talk to during the following day. You will have to end the conversation come night-time though, as it would interfere with the church's meetings.
3rd Party: The following roles have their own win conditions.
Mutant: You are cursed with insanity and super strength! During the day you appear as a normal human, however when night comes you mutate, causing you to feel and urge to kill, and causing your skin to harden, rendering you immune to bullets. Each night you must shoot a player. Your shot cannot be prevented by protection and you cannot be killed at night. You win when you are the last remaining player in the game.
Bartender: You are done. You have heard secrets in the bar, and have determined that everyone is guilty. The only solution is to use your vast collection of booze to dispense your own form of justice on these people. Each night you may choose to do one of 2 actions. You may Douse A player, coating them in Alcohol, Or you may Ignite All players who have been doused, killing them all. You may Ignite more than once. Once you have ignited, all players who have been Doused, will become un-Doused. Your kill can be protected against, and you can get killed at night. Because you are the bartender, you are well liked and therefore return Innocent to all investigations. You win when you are the last remaining player in the game.
Day 1 will be for the election of a Mayor. The runner up will be a Pardoner
Mayor: Your will decide the Day 1 Lynch and your vote counts for 2.
Pardoner: Once per game, You may PM the host during the day and cause there to be no lynch.
Mafia KP is Mafia #/2 Rounded Down with a minimum of 1.
I got but a taste of mafia last week and I desire more. I'm afraid I'm a little new to this but I have no idea when the next NMM game is and there was so much lurk in it I feel like it wasn't a great example. /in
