Fnatic have just issued a press release which should silence all the doubters it has had over the past few weeks after they decided to close down their Korean gaming house.

Fnatic are in a process of 'streamlining' their SC2 division, and will be shifting their focus back to the organisation's roots in Europe.

The reasons stated for the termination of the Korean house, is that the house was "a venture that we are able to justify."

"Korea was too distant from the base of Fnatic to work perfectly and we were not able to get the fan interaction and communicaiton with the house that is truly us."

Fnatic, being awesome, have not given up hope for SC2 though - they have some amazing news, and that is setting up a new gaming house in Europe, closer to their headquarters (which is in London).

J, AKA Luvsic, has been released from the lineup.

Great news, at least they'll have some where to play.

Good news, though I wonder what will happen with Alive and Oz now.
Busy night, but there's always room for another... unless the servers are down.

Well, atleast they still put time, money and effort into SC2 instead of just pulling everything out, so yay for the EU line-up of Fnatic! Wonder what will happen to aLive and Oz though. Both have fallen pretty hard since they are on Fnatic.

I disagree with your statement. If you had said that they're in pretty deep of a slump right now, I would have agreed with you. But they haven't "fallen pretty hard since they are on Fnatic". In fact, let me point this out. aLive never actually accomplished anything worthy of that much recognition during his stay with TSL. It was on Fnatic that he reached his peak, in winning IPL4 as well as placing top 4 in Code S and Iron Squid. Oz on the other hand, yeah he's declined a bit, although not that terrible either, he's been doing quite decently at MLGs and even got top 4 in one if I'm not mistaken.

More on topic, this is an interesting turn of events although not that shocking for those who are aware of Fnatic's pre-SC2 activity. Will be looking forward to their new pickups. ^^

Well fnatic's tried Americans with fenix/TT1/kawaiirice/JF and so on, then they tried Korea with rain/byul/moon/alive and so on. I guess now it's Europe's turn with nightend/naama and presumably others.

So with that in mind when can we expect the shift to SEA for fnatic in SC2?

I really hope they get a coach/manager in there, otherwise players would just slack off. Not necessarily a KeSPA like regime, but some discipline as well as actual team building etc is needed.

I would love to thank Fnatic for the hype they gave us at GSTL 2012 :D Can't forget the first foreigner team wins. This decision is predicted as some guys around has posted on TL, still no idea what will happen to aLive and Oz now

This is exciting - hope naama can end up there and get another DH (or similar) title

Oz and aLive were both Code S Round of 8 before Fnatic already, so yeah they peaked at Fnatic but were also stable Code S players before. And although Oz also had decent results at MLG (and really good one at Arenas) their fall from Code S semifinalist to where they are is pretty hard imo

The thing is that both the American, and the Korean teams were constructed by a manager for Fnatic, not Fnatic per se. When Xeris left Fnatic, his team left as well, since Fnatic wanted to aim higher and the NA roster wasn't getting the results that Fnatic expected (except for Fenix and perhaps TT1). When Hwanni left Fnatic, it seems as though they had a lot of communication problems with their players and their expensive-looking house in Korea.

Alive and oz seem very inconsistent of late, but both are good players. Of course it hasn't been announced that they are leaving fnatic but I don't see them moving to Europe at the very least.

Funny how people in the thread say things like "good news" when a player gets cut and a major team confirms that they are giving up on their Korean division. GG J

It'll be hard for him to find a new team the caliber of Fnatic now because he isn't really good nor is he very popular or well known.

Oz just won RSL season 3 fairly recently as well.
