[Interview] GSL 2013 Season 1 Up and Downs Group D

You advance to Code S in first place. How do you feel?

I expected to advance since there were a lot of Protosses and I like TvP. However, I never expected it to be this easy.

How did you prepare for the match?

I had TvZ and TvT towards the end of the day so I spent 80% of my time on TvP. I didn't ladder but I practised with team mates.

There was a hidden expansion at the 5o'clock position in your game against Genius. Did you not see the probe go that way?

I was doing something else so I did miss it. I found out only when the director told me after the game. However, I had an timing attack planned so it didn't matter. I was simply trying to find his main with the marine so I wasn't paying much attention to it.

You have been missing from Code S for two seasons. Are you confident about this time?

I am but for some reason, I always play badly in Code S. However, I have a good feeling about this year. Last year, I lost to Curious twice near the beginning of last year. I think I started to slump when I fell to Code A then (laugh).

What are your plans for the year?

Funny you should say that because I am a bit lost after getting the summons for the army just three days ago. I have been distracted from gaming due to that. There's also the fact that Parting left the team. Fortunately, it didn't affect my skill.

Many players find this season very meaningful. How about you?

Of course I want to do well in the last season for Wings of Liberty. However, after falling from Code S every single time, I am a bit worried. The championship would be nice but I want to secure my spot for Code S first and start in Code S next season.

You are in Code S for the first time ever. How do you feel?

It took me an entire year so I think it's about time (laugh). However, I feel fantastic.

Were you expecting to advance to Code S?

About 50-50. The maps weren't favourable for their respective match-ups so that had me worried. I think it got easier for me once I beat sOs.

How did you prepare?

I exclusively laddered. Up and Downs is Bo1 so I took it easy.

You lost against Bomber

I was sure he would scan my main but for some reason, he scanned my natural and saw my baneling nest. That's why I lost.

Any memorable games?

The game against ByuN. I didn't practise on Antiga Shipyard even once. First suggested the build to me. I think it worked very well.

This is your first winner's interview after joining IM. How are you doing?

Very well. I think the practice environment and the members are very nice.

This is the last season for Wings of Liberty

I've been playing WoL for a year now and only done well in the team league. I was very worried about my individual league performance. I am relieved to have reached Code S finally.

What is your goal for this season?

Round of 8 is the goal. I lack experience so I'm settling for that until later.
