MKP, Yonghwa and Parting pretty smart to choose this over IPL 5.
MUCH less competitive player pool and a very nice 1st place prize of $25k.

1st place prize surprisingly tiny. Though I guess that's because the player pool isn't that scary

Did AlexCMoi retake his spot, therefore effectively making CombatEX go "OMG I'M GOING TO WCG!!!" only for Alex to say "Nope, actually I AM going to WCG" crushing CombatEX's dreams?
HAHA, good on AlexCMoi.

It's the same as a MLG championship first place prize ;o
How nice of them to put all the KR players in different groups. I wonder which one of them is going to win.

I think Group A could be interesting, YongHwa is the favorite, but LoWeLy can beast it up if he feels like it, while MacSed always seem to beat koreans in China...
Group B should be crushed by PartinG
However if it's all Bo1s... anything could happen.

They didn't do it for KR. All the countries that had multiple representatives are in different groups. This makes sense and very common in other sports where you qualify by region. They usually distribute the regions like that. They also did it for WCS (except if was Asia instead of Korea so there was some overlap groups)

The sole foreigner hope is fraer. He is the only Top25-Foreigner at WCG in my opinion. (maybe Killer as well)

Both MKP and SuperNoVa got knocked out in Ro8 last year to Kas and TiTaN respectively. It was up to Mvp to win it for Korea and he delivered.
And for all the people saying MKP is taking the easy way out. Please remember they had to go through the Korean Qualifiers to get here. And the Korean Qualifiers had ALL (Kespa/non Kespa) players. Granted, the Kespa players had just switched over at this point. So you could argue that this was a more difficult path compare to IPL5.

Eh, last year it was bo1's too and the KR players made it through group stage.
Mvp 6-0, Supernova and MKP 5-1. Since then the skill gap between foreigners and Koreans outside of the top foreigners has become even larger. I can't see Parting Yonghwa or MKP losing a single game to anyone in their groups looking at the names here. All three of these guys are top top players, Yonghwa only recently got into the GSL but he's clearly Code S level, he won the KR qualifier ( beat MKP in the finals, lol. ) and got two all kills in GSTL in the past few months.
The only player I see causing an upset is fraer, and they will meet in the later rounds where It's not BO1.
Anything but top 3 KR would be extremely surprising. Maybe fraer could PvP Parting or Yonghwa out but even that's a stretch.

The player pools seems very weak I must say, will be super suprised if finals doesn't include Yongwha, PartinG or MKP.

Yeah I just edited that, didn't see he was qualified.

Sad to see how few countries are playing this year. WCG is a shadow of what it used to be.

What happened to Canadian players this season? CombatEX > HuK?

Paranoid to win it all, lets go Poland!
