With MLG Dallas mere hours away, we decided to give the community a little insight into who we are, who our players at the event are, and what it is that brings them to MLG to swing in the big leagues.
Our MLG Representation is comprised of some of our best players from the USA, Canada, and South Korea:
cEngyn
cKC
cSiphonn
cShew
cJookTo
cEngyn
Up first is our Zerg player from Calgary, Canada. Brian "cEngyn" Nguyen. We're really excited to have him here at the event with us, as an extremely hard-working student, it's hard for him to find time to make it to international events.
Evening Brian! Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us today! Congratulations on your recent second place finish at WCG Canada Qualifiers . Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself for the readers that aren't as familiar with you?
Hi, my name is Brian, known as Mkengyn/Engyn and I am a zerg player. I started playing starcraft 2 the day it came out and have been playing it competitively until now. My best rank in ladder is top 13 in GM and I have been consistently high up on GM ladder throughout all seasons.
You were one of the players chosen to represent Clarity Gaming at the MLG Fall Championship in Dallas, have you ever been to an MLG event before? How are you preparing for this one? How does that differ from how you practice for other tournaments?
I have not been to an MLG before and this will be my first. I'm preparing by mainly playing lots of games on ladder and practicing with teammates.
With only a few days left until the big trip, can you tell us how you're feeling about the tournament? Your expectations and goals?
I'm really excited as this will be my first MLG and second big event other than WCS Canada. My goals and expectations is to make it to the championship bracket.

As a Zerg, how are you finding the match-ups right now? Are there any builds you're having trouble beating? Any MU you're finding particularly easy?
ZvP is probably one of the hardest matchups for me. Mainly 2 base timings are what I lose to. Easiest matchup for me right now is ZvT.
What is a typical day in the life of cEngyn?
Nothing too complicated. Going to school in the morning and coming home in the afternoon. Then using the rest of the time studying/doing homework and playing starcraft.
Thank you for taking the time to speak with us! Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans and where can readers follow you?
I'd like to thank my fans for supporting me and Clarity Gaming for sending me to MLG. You can follow me on twitter @cEngyn.

Right behind him, even coming in on the same flight is the second part of our Canadian roster, and the only Terran from our team in attendance. Kevin "cKC" Camarta comes into MLG off the back of a first place finish at the Edmonton Classic over teammate SaroVati, who unfortunately is unable to attend this weekend.
Kevin! Congratulations on your recent 1st Place finish at the Edmonton
Classic! You played some amazing games and managed to take home the
gold. How was the tournament and how did it feel to walk away with the
victory?
Thank you, its always a really good feeling to take 1st place at a local event and being able to attend with my
teammate made it even better.
Who would you say was your hardest competitor at the Edmonton Classic
and how were you able to best them?
My teammate SaroVati was by far the hardest competitor, i lost to him in the group stages 2-1 and i think it could have went either way in the final. It was a fun finals, we were both joking around a lot so i enjoyed it.
You were one of the players chosen to represent Clarity Gaming at the
MLG Fall Championship in Dallas, have you ever been to the US or an MLG
event before? How are you preparing for this one?
This will be my first time attending an MLG and I'm very excited, I'm really excited to just apart of MLG and try to do as best
as possible. Iv been going over my game play and trying to work on my weak aspects, as well as broadening my strategies.
What are you looking forward to the most about competing in the US?
Probably just competing against different players internationally and trying to represent Clarity as best as possible. There's a lot of pressure to make a descent name for ourselves so I'm really hoping i do well. Its also gonna be cool meeting all the members for the first time and just having a good time.
Are there any particular players you look forward to facing at MLG? Do you have any rivals?

I don't have any particular players that I want to face, I'm just hoping i don't get a bad bracket
How about idols? What players do you look up to, either as a person, or as a fellow competitor to follow and learn from?
I think KT Flash is going to be there, I used to watch Brood War a lot and i always idolized him so maybe i can get a picture and chat with him. Hes getting pretty good so I'm excited to see how he will do.
As a Terran, how are you finding the match-ups right now? Are there any
races you're having trouble with? Any matchup you're finding particularly easy?
I think Terran is a hard race to play, I don't think there's any matchup that's too imbalanced or anything you just have to play really well as Terran to benefit. No matchup is necessarily easy to me, they all have there difficult points to them. I just need to work on improving my own skills to benefit from Terran.
What is a typical day in the life of cKC?
I work full-time at the moment so thats what I'm doing on your normal weekdays, I just try to play as much SC2 as possible after work and on the
weekends. That's pretty much what I do/

cSiphonn
Coming in from the USA, our Protoss duo are both MLG Veterans and really look forward to closing out the year with strong showings here at Dallas. Up first is Kevin "Siphonn" Bentz from Philadelphia, PA.
Howdy Siphonn! Congratulations on your recent high placing finish at the Power Overwhelmin LAN! You played some amazing games and managed to finish respectably well. How was the tournament and how was the competition?
Hello sir, thanks. I did okay but not as good as I wanted too, I placed third and could've (and I think, should've) placed first. I beat the eventual winner in the round robin stage, iSPyre, and he was the toughest competition. As far as the tournament goes, everytime I go it is a blast! If you are from the area, I highly recommend making a trip up to LocalBattles where the tournaments are held. It is an awesome environment and there are a bunch of cool people!
You were one of the players chosen to represent Clarity Gaming at the MLG Fall Championship in Dallas and are a veteran of the MLG circuit in general. How are you preparing for this one? What have you done differently this time around?
I have been preparing with all the free time I have, and I have actually been winning on ladder and in customs before this MLG a lot, previously before every other MLG, I always used to tilt!
What are you looking forward to the most about competing in Dallas?
Seeing all of my friends I talk to online, and the thrill of the competition.
Are there any particular players you look forward to facing at MLG? Do you have any rivals?
I want to play Axslav again, since I lost to him at Anaheim WBR3 after beating him in a showmatch not long before. I would say I have no rivals.

How about idols? What players do you look up to, either as a person, or as a fellow competitor to follow and learn from?
Grubby, do I even have to say why I look up to him!? He is literally the nicest guy in the world, and continues to surprise everyone with his play every tournament he participates in.
As a Protoss, how are you finding the match-ups right now? Are there any races you're having trouble with? Any MU you're finding particularly easy?
I think PvT is fine, but in my opinion Zerg is way to easy vs Protoss, and I am really having trouble vs Zerg. I think PvP is easy for me, and it is the most fun in my opinion, I love Blink Stalker battles, I rarely ever lose them. My blink micro is impeccable.
What is a typical day in the life of cSiphonn?

Also shout-out to my brother, he is my biggest fan and always supports me no matter what I choose to do. You can follow me on twitter @MercedesBentz, and I will be streaming once I get a new computer at Twitch.TV/Siphonn, so stay tuned!

cShew
Coming from the other side of the country, the second half of our Protoss Duo is no stranger to MLG, having attended every event since the championship at Providence last year. Alex "Shew" Raymond is a consistent Open Bracket competitor and looking to surpass all his previous results this year to wrap it up.
Hello Alex! Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us today! I know you recently returned from a stay in the EG Lair practicing with their Starcraft 2 team. Can you tell us about your experience there?
I have been friends with some of the EG squad for a few years now. I can honestly say they are all genuinely nice human beings and I'm lucky to be considered a friend in their eyes. Machine invited me out to spend a week and hang out, and I quickly jumped at the offer. It gave me a true perspective on what a team-house is like on the inside. I enjoyed every second of being there, and hope I can do it again soon.
You were one of the players chosen to represent Clarity Gaming at the MLG Fall Championship in Dallas and are a veteran of the MLG circuit in general. How are you preparing for this one? What have you done differently this time around?
Previously, I used to go into MLGs stressing myself out to the point where I couldn't sleep or eat. I was only worried about my performance. I would spend the 2 weeks prior to MLG focusing on nothing except Starcraft, and often that just added unnecessary stress in the days leading up to the tournament. This time around, I am going into it with a more lackadaisical attitude. I still want to do well, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it.
What are you looking forward to the most about competing in Dallas?
I think I'm most looking forward to interacting with all of my eSports friends one last time before 2013. MLGs are always a big reunion for everyone involved.
Are there any particular players you look forward to facing at MLG? Do you have any rivals?
I would like to face a Korean at Dallas. One of two Koreans I faced in my MLG career was MVP at MLG Providence 2011, which was also the last MLG for the 2011 circuit. Seeing as it's the last MLG for the 2012 circuit, I think it would be fitting to face another Korean.

How about idols? What players do you look up to, either as a person, or as a fellow competitor to follow and learn from?
As a person, I look up to a lot of my friends that I've accumulated over the years. I look up to Axslav because of his stone-cold badassery, Sasquatch because he is such a care-free and fun loving person, and Machine because he's someone that has experienced it all and if I ever have a question he will answer it. As far as Gameplay-wise, I honestly look at any Protosses better than me and just try to learn anything I can from them.
As a Protoss, how are you finding the match-ups right now? Are there any races you're having trouble with? Any MU you're finding particularly easy?
Previously I used to be very outspoken about balance and things of that nature. However in the last 2 months I've decided that complaining about X race or Y strategy is just wasted energy. Sometimes, though, those feelings tend to slip after a frustrating loss . I think I speak for all Protoss when we feel that it can be pretty difficult facing Zergs at the moment. I don't find any match-up particularly easy, it all depends on who I am playing.
What is a typical day in the life of cShew?
I recently started taking a few classes at a local college as something to do in-between now and 2013 (when I start playing full-time). Those, coupled with working out 3x a week have made me pretty busy. My schedule is still fairly new so I'm still in the balancing stage.
Thank you for taking the time to speak with us! Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans and where can readers follow you?
To all my fan(s), thanks for following me :p Shoutouts to the Goon Squad, sasquatch, eifersuchtig, QuanticRumcake, Gretorp, hwangsin, adama, the list goes on and on... So many people have been helping me out in these last few weeks, Thank you all ! <3

Rounding out our line-up is our most recent addition to the team, the Korean Zerg, and former oGs player Man Hyeok "cJookTo" Jo. After a rather harrowing adventure through the Toronto Airport customs, he arrived safe and sound with the rest of the team in Dallas.
First off, welcome to Clarity Gaming. Would you mind introducing yourself a little for the people who don’t know who you are?*
Hello, I am a native Zerg player from South Korea and I am a pro gamer who has been playing ever since the GSL Open seasons and have always focused on the GSL.
*How did you get to join a new and upcoming team like Clarity Gaming?*
After my previous team oGs disbanded, I had been contemplating for a while about where I would go from here on out as a gamer. As I realized that I had a strong desire to experience what it was like to be on a foreign team and attend foreign events, I ended up accepting Clarity Gaming's proposition.
*What do you think about your teammates currently? *
I just recently introduced myself to the team yesterday so I don't really have anyone I am close with and am not sure about what the team will be like but if I get to talk with them a lot and give and receive help from each other, I am sure we'll be able to become great teammates.
*If you don’t mind answering this, why did you leave team apeX eSports? *
It was after I had signed with apeX that I found out about apeX's past and all the rumors surrounding that team through the foreign fans. And just like they had done so in the past, they broke a lot of their promises that they made when I agreed to sign with them and did not follow through with their own contract so I left apeX.
*As a player, what kind of goals do you want to achieve in a few months? Do you have any plans to attend any major tournaments?*
Starting with my attendance for this fall’s MLG, I think I'll be able to keep on attending a lot of foreign tournaments thanks to Clarity Gaming. My biggest goal is to be able to establish a presence within the foreign Zerg scene.
*What kind of goals do you have for coming to America? It doesn’t necessarily have to be game related.*
A big reason I want to go to America is because I want to learn English.

o you have anyone you specifically would like to face at MLG? Do you have anyone you consider a rival?*
I did have players like that when I was with oGs but after the team disbanded, I had barely attended any tournaments afterwards and since I was living outside of a team house, I had a lot of thoughts about the game and about a job so I don't necessarily have a rival or anyone I want to face. As of late, I'm just trying really hard to regain the feeling of the game I once had.
o you have anyone that you want to resemble regarding your play style? And if you do, what sort of instances happened that made you want to be known like that player? *
I can't really pick a specific player that I follow. Just, whenever I watch Zerg players do really well, I get the desire to replicate that same play style. I have a peculiar style to start with so I don't really have anyone I want to resemble but it's so hard to win these days through just style so I am learning a lot as I watch and observe other Zerg players play.
*As a Zerg player, is there any race that you especially like to play against or want to avoid?*
I really like playing mirror matches but I have good days and bad days when it comes to my ZvPs and ZvTs. I think this is because every player keeps coming up with new strategies and new ways to play out long macro games.
*When you’re not gaming, what do you do?*
After leaving the team house, I had been hanging out with my friends and playing soccer with them ever since I came back home. But nowadays most of them have gone off to the army so I'm bored.
Anything you would like to say to your fans and readers?
Whenever I have difficulty with the game or facing a hard time, the fans cheering me on is what keeps me going on. As long as people keep cheering me on, I will definitely make it up to them with my performances.
