When young people go to college, and they're out there by themselves with no friends, the idea of forming long lasting friendships is attractive. However, I prefer to make friends the normal way, by choosing the people who I like, instead of being stuck with guys I have no idea about, simply because we went through tough shit together. Besides, from a number of experiences, I can tell that friendships made through frats aren't as strong as people think they are. When really bad things happened to a couple of my friends in a frat, their frat brothers didn't step up to help. It was the real friends (me and our highschool friends) who came to the rescue.

All of that shit should be spontaneous. Jumping into a river with no shirt on because someone tell you to is peer pressure at its worst (argh how controlled are you?!) but doing it for laugh can be cool and bonding experience.

I've done a lot of stupid shit, stuff that a lot of frats won't ask their initiates to do. But because I did it with friends I liked, and because I did it because I wanted to, it was fun. Doing it because someone tells me to? No thanks. And if the payback is drugs, alcohol, ass, and connections, no thanks. I only really want ass and connections out of the above, and those I can get by myself thankyouverymuch.

I've been asked a hundred times to pledge what college do you go to, i doubt that one frat bid on you 100 times, or 100 frats all bid on you once, relatively speaking. Different chapters of different frats in different school all vary in terms of pretty much everything. I'm sure there are cool frats as well as weird frats in your school
