So, I know this may not be a important thing but i feel that i want some discussion about it.
I know that this MLG springarena will be awesome but there are some things that bothers me, first of all you need to play to watch which i find fucked, I mean i can't pay 10 dollars = Approxmently 70SEK for one weekend. I feel that they should maybe have 360 and 240p for free since it's such a low quality that it's hard to see what's going on. So i think that they should make it so everyone can watch, BUT since it's USA you need to make money on everything otherwise you can't do it. I know that they need to pay for servers and stuff that they run but, with their sponsors and commercials they should earn enough money to let the "poor" people watch mlg at low quality.
I know that the payment is every month, so that you can get more content from MLG but I find the investment inefficent since they don't produce enough stuff to actually make it worth the 10 dollars, ofcourse MLG springarena and that kind of stuff gives you a little bit of your money back but it's not like it's weekly or monthly they have it like every second month.
Can't just MLG understand that money isn't everything, I KNOW that people need to get payed for what they do etc. etc. I mean GOMTV does a show every month almost daily and they still have a free stream which is alot better than MLG who deosn't even let somebody watch springarena at 360, I know that they have other free shows like STOG but they still earn money one the show + that it ain't 20 000k people watching it at the same time.
Ofcourse Mlg produces alot of content but the money they make on a mlg springarena is a whole lot, and people would still pay to watch in full HD even though you have a free stream on 360 and 240p
I don't say that mlg, and what they do is bad, I find that they are an awesome company with some awesome partners and that they are awesome for hosting events that cost a ton of money, and that's partly why the arena costs. I know mlg makes big investments when they go for mlg Columbus and others of them. They have some awesome shows running like i mentioned earlier in the text STOG which is one of the most awesomest shows for SC2 (awesomest made up word?).
All I'm saying is PLEASE MLG let me watch it without needing to pay, I don't have the money for it! and i probly wouldn't pay if i had but still how much do you lose on letting people watch in 360 p?

There are ~140 people streaming SC2 right now, and there's Dreamhack plus a bunch of smaller tournaments and team leagues this weekend. Plus there's the D3 open beta. You have so many choices for entertainment this weekend that you should only pay for MLG if you think it's worth the money, and in fact that's what MLG representatives have said. Making informed decisions with your money is what helps esports grow, not blindly "supporting esports" and not bashing tournaments either.

if they put on a free stream then they have the whole tournament run at a loss, surprisingly sundance is interested in being able to pay his employees and not have to shut down MLG so hes trying to actually make a profit

first off its SOTG. and they have to make money. if you want sc2 to succeed you have to pay for now. later on it may change.

Supply and demand. Enough people think it's worth the money so you just have to deal with that and decide how much high quality SC2 is worth to you, which apparently is nothing.

i dont think you get it, if theres a free stream he makes no money at all
if he doesnt add a free stream, pretty mcuh everyone gets to watch anyway if they were going to and MLG actually MAKES money

That's not how it works. GSL makes money. Twitch streamers make money. If you charge $10 you make more money IF you have a superior product that people will watch over the free ones.
