[GSL Preliminaries]MyungHwan Cho, “Mainly focused on Mind Control to Prepare”

“Want to gain a lot of experience on the foreign team”

GoldenLighT has advanced from the 2012 GSL Season 2 Code A Preliminaries held at the ShinDoRim TechnoMart Intel eStadium on March 11th.

How do you feel about advancing?
“To be honest, I focused more on mind control than focusing more on practicing like I had done previously. I think I succeeded by cutting down pure practice time in order to calm myself down in order to compete. I know I fell a bit short in the finals but I’m relieved that I won in this way.”

How did your preliminaries go today?
I feel like I wasted 2011 because I wasn’t good against other Zerg players. I was worried because there were many strong Zerg players in my group, but other than the finals it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I felt a little unnerved by AnNyeong (of Team Prime) in Ro4, but because I was able to execute a good performance, I felt very proud of myself.

Which match was the most difficult?
The finals were the hardest. It was difficult to play because I lost the first set and I became very nervous. It was a hard time for me.

You recently switched to Team LighT.
I am traveling to the States this wednesday in order to prepare for MLG and IPL. Because of the delay, I was unable to practice with my teammates much. I’m very excited to have an in-depth practice session with my teammates when I go to the States.

Do you feel like the foreign team is a good match for you?
Yes I think the foreign team is a good match for me. I’m really glad because I get to have experiences money can’t buy. I’m very glad that I get the opportunity to compete in foreign events often.

Isn’t the communication hard?
I’m still lacking in English, but I am learning vigorously. Thank you Yuna for helping with translations.

What is your goal this season?
Going straight to Code S is my goal. Given this opportunity, I really want to display a great performance as I advance.

Anything more to say?
I was very worried because my mother was ill since last December. Before that I wasn’t very motivated when I gamed, but ever since she got sick I became more motivated. I am really thankful towards my mother for allowing me to try hard, and I’m thankful to my father for recommending good videos. (A/N: not sure about the videos part, there are multiple meanings.) I would also like to thank my relatives for supporting me. I was tired out from all the mind-controlling yesterday, but thank you to my family at “Delicious Food”for buying me really great food and clothes. I will definitely return this grace by producing good results at the foreign tournaments. I also hope that the recently disbanded RS team keeps their head up.

Yeah, the actual term is literally "mind control" Golden meant like mental prep--not stressing out all that stuff.

BW. There will always be a special place in my heart for the game I spent 10 years to be mediocre at.
