With MBCGame switching over to a music channel, all of eSports related MBCGame personnel were laid off. Included in the new unemployment list was commentator Lee Seung Won, commonly called as the Commentator Bonjwa for his supreme analytical and in-depth style. Needless to say, many regard him as the best commentator in the business.
It was the former rival company that reached out a helping hand. Ongamenet, or OGN for short, made an announcement that brightened the days of many fans. Lee Seung Won returns to the eSports scene, now as an OGN commentator.
Fomos interviewed him a couple days ago to get his side of the story.
You know when people say they love their job? Usually that phrase is used in a positive sense with job enjoyment and satisfaction and all, but you'll also learn from this interview that love hurts...
Thanks a bunch opticalshot. <3. We as fans focus so much on the players that it's nice for a commentator to get the spotlight once in a while. OGN done good to pick this guy up.
imma rofl when leeseungwon gets paired with kim carry. smartest announcer + wrong-est announcer; wouldn't be surprised if leeseungwon gets the urge to slap him

yep, the smartest thing fomos ever did after banning their images from TL was get opticalshot to translate for them.
"I buy new clothes on a regular basis, both expensive and cheap. Same with glasses. I like the classic style, with a bit of vintage feeling. For example, my typical outdoor fashion would consist of a tight-fitted blazer with vintage jeans. I also like dandy styles. Anyways, I keep myself up-to-date with fashion magazines and news both offline and online. It doesn't take too long, maybe one hour per day."
i don't understand a word this man says and yet i am a huge fan of his and sooooo happy he got picked up by OGN. (heh when he commented that football game in hyungjoonβ₯)
man OpticalShot you keep piling on the awesome can't even keep up, but will read 100%
They should have let us know of their exact intentions and timelines, but instead everything was in a grey cloud until things suddenly happened. I'm pretty sure the upper management knew exactly what to do and when to pull the trigger, but they never bothered to tell us or the MBCGame Hero progamers
Terrible...
Thanks for translating OpticalShot, enjoyed reading this interview (I say this a lot but that's because I do enjoy reading these interviews)
I speak no Korean, and like others, I still find a way to enjoy his commentary. I really liked the interview as it didn't dwell on the standard stale questions seen in many pro gamer interviews, it really brought out his character. Amazing translations OpticalShot, how you manage to translate so much, and maintain outstanding quality control is beyond me. Thanks to you I actually check out fomos global now.
Oh man, it makes me tear up to see how much Lee Seungwon loved the MSL. I didn't realize he'd been with MBC for 10 years. It's pretty insulting how the execs pretty much stomped on a decade of hard work by letting go of him and the MSL so unceremoniously. And for leaving him and all of us fans in the dark for so long about their intentions. Sigh. Hopefully we'll never have to go through that with OGN. He looked so happy yesterday, to be back in his element doing what he loved.
Man thank you so much for this, what a masterpiece interview. I always liked Lee the most at an analyst, and Kim chul min and Park Sang Hyun as casters. Shit, I a gonna miss them so much.
