Hello fellow TLers. For the last few weeks I have been toying with an idea, and I would finally like to discuss it here on TL to see if it is viable. In my life I have only ever had 2 real passions. Traveling, And eSports (Specifically Starcraft for the last 2 years). However my dream of becoming a professional gamer was quickly lost when I realized there was no way I would ever set foot on a plane. Ever since this realization, my only dream has been to backpack around Europe with nothing but a tent and a sense of adventure. Until now. I have been planning this backpacking trip for quite some time now, and during my planning I discovered something called "Couch surfing". Which is basically a website where people will let you stay in their house or camp in their garden for a couple of days, and in return you tidy their house, cook their meals, or any other annoying tedious job they can find. And this sounded perfect to me. A great way to meet people, and to work for Accommodation while being able to travel freely. Then not long ago I came up with an idea that sounded even better. Couch surfing, but with starcraft 2 players/enthusiasts. What do I mean by this? Well basically I would ask you fellow European TLers if any of you would be willing to let me camp in your garden for a couple of days. In return, I could do a number of things. The first that came to mind, and which would be amazing if possible, would be coaching starcraft 2. Thats right, I would be traveling Europe in a tent and every now and again camping in someones garden to coach starcraft 2. Although at the moment I am only a mid masters player, if this idea seems at all viable I would spend the next year training in both starcraft 2 and coaching starcraft 2 so I could give the best lessons possible. And ofcourse if they don't want SC2 lessons, I could simply do the usual, cleaning, cooking, pet care, any annoying job you can think of. For me, this would be a dream come true. Not only would I be able to travel, but I would be able to stop and share my other passion with fellow SC2 enthusiasts. Not to mention I could stop of at every major European tournament and do a few Vlogs for the community. However at the moment, all this post is is planning. To see if my dream is viable. This of course relies on there being enough people in Europe who would be interested in this for me to spend every spare hour until then training. So if you live in Europe and think that having a fellow SC2 enthusiast sleep in your back garden for 2 or 3 days while offering to assist you in any way possible sounds like a bit of fun, let me know! Thanks for reading guys.

You can sleep in my garden and do the dishes/clean my house as long as you want! (If you feel like settling down after all that exhausting travelling around ofcourse)

Fantastic third reply! If I get enough interest I will take you up on that offer!

This thread is for the community subsection.
Cool idea though, i'd be much more inclined to trust a typical SC2 player than any other typical couch surfer.
When offended - the SC2 player makes a roommate blog on TL rather than confront the issue.

:| This would sound 1000x less creepy if you just asked to use some TL'ers guest rooms. If I lived in EU, my garden would be yours.

I live in Belgium, Antwerp.
You are always welcome to crash at my apartment if you want to visit the country/city.

I did consider putting it in their, but a lot of this idea is starcraft 2 centered and I just figured it would be more appropriate for the SC2 Community instead of simply the TL community. If a mod disagree's I guess they will move it for me.

Heh, would love for you to come by! We have BIG garden and hell, even whole room to spare, so you'd not have to sleep in tent while staying with me :') As long as you don't ask me to cook for you ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
So, if you'd want, just PM me, introduce yourself a bit, so I have an idea what kind of person you are, and I'd be more than happy to meet you. I do not have any SC2 enthusiasts nearby my area, so I do feel kinda lonely in that regard. :D

Well, no garden, but I got an apartment to offer you, if you ever decide to come to Gothenburg, Sweden. Love the idea btw!

Great idea dude, depending on when you leave (moving in 2 months so would have to be after that) then you are more than welcome to crash on my couch for a few days if your visiting Aalborg, Denmark

Good luck with your travels! CouchSurfing is a fantastic website with a great community. I have surfed only a few times, but have hosted quite a few people. Everyone is really great and helpful, and it's a great way to get familiar with a new city. Great to see some support from the TL community.

Just pm me and I'm sure we can work things out if you want to chill in the Netherlands

Ill tell you how to get onto a plane (note: I also fear flying)
Go into the duty free and purchase a bottle of spirits and a shot glass -> Sit in the terminal and down 10 shots in 10 minutes -> Realise that you no longer care about how scary airplanes are -> Get on the plane and enjoy the ride.
Awsome idea though, I hope that your find plently of people willing to let you sleep in their yard. Good Luck!!!

Well, as far as I am concerned, if you are a nice, decent person, you can stay as long as you want, but that part about not asking me to cook for you stays
