IPL definitely needs more hype then it's getting, especially with the great production value and how well it provides for players

IPL is following the way of big online competitions like poker - buy-in for everyone, but guaranteed bling-bling if you make it through

Funnily enough, only 19 of the 1024 available slots are taken as of now - but at least 15 of those are progamers worthy of participating in IPL3 already. :lol

Yeah this is pretty amazing of IGN. I expect all the top players to try to qualify for this, including just about everyone in Korea :x I wouldn't be surprised if Koreans took all of the qualifying spots if this tournament has been posted/translated on one of their Korean SC2 sites. If not, a lot of Koreans probably won't know about it so the foreigners will have a better chance of qualifying. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Koreans are allowed to participate, but their participation is almost always followed by their winning. GL foreigners, you're gonna need it!

I wish IGN would divide the qualifiers into regions so we dont end up with a situation like NASL's

NASL had one online open qualifier with one spot awarded. It's hardly comparable at all.

Yeah, 1 problem with 0 entry fee is you get a lot of random masters or even plat/diamonds just joining in to see if they can cheese out someone or stalk their favorite player... making the brackets more bloated than it should be.
So that's 1 Korean turning out. Hopefully the others won't shy away like the NASL situation.
