Banner thanks to biomech!

After a great success with Season 1 (and part of 2!) we are going to be creating threads with the release of each season to try and keep things fairly organized. Without any further delay...

Welcome to Team Liquid's Season 2 Hacker Database!

Tags we use!

We are currently using two tags to denote whether a player is a hacker, or if a player is committing suspicious activity and we are unable to draw a conclusion within the TL Antihack Team.

[CONFIRMED] ::: This player is for sure a hacker. The TL Antihack team can clearly pick out points within a replay that leave the team with zero doubt.

[NEEDS REVIEW] ::: This player is suspicious and displays behavior that is similar to that of a confirmed hacker. However, in order to make sure that we do not confirm someone as a hacker that is not actually hacking, we have this tag for when the TL Antihack team is unable to determine within itself if the player is hacking or not. PLEASE download this replay, watch, and give us your input. If majority says yes/no, we may delete the player from the list or change this tag to a [CONFIRMED]. Please read the description below the replay for further information as to why this tag was used.

[DROP HACK] ::: This player is drop hacking all or most of his games. Checking this players history will show you a very large amount of wins and none to very little losses; in general the games will last only a few seconds to a couple minutes. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot one can do against a drop hack, however we will list him here so that if a final list of hackers gets sent to Blizzard by the TL Antihack team, they will be included.

When reporting a hacker, please submit in the format below. If you do not attach a replay, or a character code, we will likely have to skip your post.

FORMAT

Feel free in the description area to provide your own proof. We will check the replay either way. It's recommended you watch your own replay for the obvious stuff before submitting...too many false reports and you're likely to be warned/banned.

What do I look for in replays?

Thankfully aidnai wrote up a pretty good list of things that are hack/not hack material. Take a look below and please consider. Keep in mind that sometimes people are lucky. If someone proxys you without a scout, they might have just gotten lucky. We can't really confirm a hacker on these sorts of things.

Good evidence for hacks (post replays that show things on this list):
  • Repeated camera focus on the enemy (your) base when it is under fog, without giving unit orders (attack/move)
  • Repeated camera focus on your army outside your base, but under fog, especially without giving unit orders. This doesn't mean your opponent sending a marine to a XN watchtower when you have a probe there is hacks though.
  • Camera focus on dropships/ovies/warp prisms or any unit in an unusual location on the map for no when it is under fog and there is no reason to look there.
  • Reactions to the army when it is under fog (this one is tricky though, as there is often a decent excuse for the hacker's army movement, for example, moving to take a XN tower, moving to secure a third, moving to threaten an expo, positioning the army better, etc. For this to be solid evidence, there should be no obvious goal for the army movement other than a reaction to what is seen via maphack.)

Weak evidence for hacks (i.e. not enough evidence by themselves):
  • Proxying the correct location without scouting.
  • Anticipating drops/muta timing/DT's/VR's/backstabs etc. Some people just take these things into account in their normal build order.
  • Unit composition/blind counters. It could very easily be dumb luck that your opponent went VR's without scouting when you went pure marauder. Or whatever.
  • One or two glances at your main under fog. Everyone does this normally (at least I do), to remember what building they scouted, or to send a scout, or to feel more confident about the map/walloff position/whatever. If you're on a 4 player map and your opponent only looks at your main (before scouting), then that's evidence, but occasionally glancing can be normal too.

Not evidence for hacks:
  • Losing to someone with lower APM.
  • Getting dropped by b.net when you were winning.
  • Perfect timing with a push. A hallmark of high level play is well timed pushes, catching you when you are teching or expanding and are vulnerable. By itself this is not evidence.
  • Your opponent failing to react to what he scouts.
  • Your opponent does something that seems to not make sense.
  • Your keyboard not responding in a match.

Description: Ragequits after his ramp is pylon blocked without scouting it, I am unconvinced from this replay, as he sees the probe outside his nat for a split second, and can easily judge a cannon rush or pylon wall is there - also loses the selection on the probe when it goes back into fog of war

Replay 2:http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/replays.php?game=33&show=download&id=211759
Description: This replay, however, seems to be a lot more convicting of maphacks. Blind counters and scouts DTs around on the map, as well as pauses the game around 13:30ish and pans around his opponents base to size up his army. Blind scouts and kills a hidden DT near his third/fourth...very suspicious on this one. I'm pretty convinced on this second replay but give them a watch and let me know what you think.

Description: Very odd replay...probably the toughest one yet. Thanks to everyone who gave their opinions. More people feel like this replay was of a very low level player with a maphack than a non-hacking replay, so I am going to confirm. Initial FOW scout before lings are up, the EE HAN TIMING vs sieging tanks outside of his field of vision are what causes this to tip into confirmed.

Hacker Name: KnY (Zerg)
Replay: http://www.2shared.com/file/3VtNB0Mg/KnY_DropHack.html
Description: lag hack after repeated pressure. Game starts lagging out of no where (CPU Lag, roughly 10-15 seconds of delay). I pause, do a pingtest and im absolutely fine). Unpause and the game freezes (literally unable to move screen/type/etc for several minutes). Game eventually unfreezes and now im sitting at "waiting for server" screen with absolutely no drop countdown.

edit: zerg oddly enough never scouts and turtles hard as well without knowing any pressure is coming. He is 37-2 in master league and obviously is cheating due to his record and mechanics (1900 mineral on 2base zerg 10minutes in?)

Strangely enough, this lag is replicated in the replay file as well.

edit2: upon checking his match history, his first few games listed here are all under 8seconds as well.

edit: spoiler tag, and the reason for the screen shot is the chat dialogue. it normally says all when you hit enter.

It's not a hack. I have this sometimes as well, I don't know why tho.

All you need to do is click ctrl + alt + delete and the task manager will show up, and u can close it cuz u can now use keyboard in SC2.

I don't know why it happens tho T_T

This last link is most interesting. He contacts the one who apparently produces these maphacks, so I hope blizzard investigates this. http://www.d3scene.com/forum/members/valiantchaos/xitoxicnl/#vmessage9647
He also told me he was top 150 eu and owned 4 accounts.
NOTE: btw i think its good to keep the list of reported and proven hackers and not stash them away. Having a thread for every season were going to get doesnt make any sense, why you cant have just the complete list -_- its not like there are that many that it takes up way to much space or something.

is this a confirmed bug or some sort of hack? both times i could not use any alphabetic keys but could use all other keys on the keyboard.

edit: spoiler tag, and the reason for the screen shot is the chat dialogue. it normally says all when you hit enter.

It's not a hack. I have this sometimes as well, I don't know why tho.

All you need to do is click ctrl + alt + delete and the task manager will show up, and u can close it cuz u can now use keyboard in SC2.

I don't know why it happens tho T_T

I think this should be added to the OP, since alot of peopel report this and its obv not a hack

Description: Played a normal PvP on Metalopolis. When he first attacked my proxy pylon, I was thinking it could be luck. When he attacked my proxy nexus blindly with 2 zealots, I checked the replay to see if he saw my nexus and I noticed couple more stuff while watching the replay. I was a ladder admin in pgtour/iccup checking for reps. I wouldn't accuse anyone of hacking unless I was 100% sure. Each timeline I posted might not be hacking if it happened just once. I noticed 5 occurrences in a 10 minute game.

5:23 checks my natural (my stalker was out there to check for probe)
7:23 sudden urge to check exactly where the pylon was built
7:53 checks the warp prism (my units were there to move out)
10:33 warps in 2 zealots without even scouting for nexus

Out of curiosity, who is running this thread now? Did arb ever find someone else to collaborate with on this? I know he was getting overwhelmed with the number of incoming replays after a while...I'd also love to help if need be.

His match history cleaned up a little bit - he's still 38-7 though. Will bookmark him and keep an eye over the next couple of days. If people feel like adding him, chime in.

Yeah, definately. Doesn't even make it like 15 seconds in without FOW scouting you. Added.

He's sneaky, he is. Aside from those few things he was pretty cool about it. Even the Pylon scout could have been coincidence. He tried to make it look that way. The expo snipe at the end was like...the nail in the coffin. Added.

Currently just arb + Torenhire (me). I just had a week full of travel, so I didn't get a chance to go over stuff until today. Will keep you in mind if we start getting replays out the wazoo.

Thanks gents.

He immediately brings 3 stalkers and his observers back to his main. I thought this might just be good foresight on his part, but after awhile, he moves them away because I haven't moved in to drop yet. When I do move in at 13:30; however and begin warping in DT's behind the fog (which he didn't not see at all), his entire army returns to his base just as my DT's start warping in. I honestly can't find a reasonable explanation for why someone would move their entire army from their natural to the top of their base when they haven't seen anything yet.

6/7/8pool allin with drones is VERY common on ladder, nothing wrong with his response he could have expected you to play cheesy(you always run the risk of dying to a stupid build like this on XNC)

He cancels his ling speed, after he puts down a roach warren, he's running one gas
And as i suspected while watching he ran out of gas making roaches(therefor he needed the extra gas for more roaches yeah?)
Id put down a roach warren after seeing no early baneling aggression too, so i dont think any hacks there.

Making a concave is something people have been doing in RTS since the dawn of time hell even i do it without scouting, better safe than sorry.

not taking a 3rd, youre attacking him the entire time do you think it would be wise to take a 3rd and try to expand? not to mention you killed all his drones so he didnt have the money to expo anyway.

Either this was a VERY bad master player, or a really lucky(he still lost so i dont know why youre even bothering to report this) or someone (low level perhaps) playing on a friends account.

Either way i dont see him being a hacker.

Thats my verdict on it

I watched the first time in his POV only, and you moved your obs over his army as he was looking at it. Even I noticed it immediately. All his zealots got all wavy. Dismissing that one as luck / noticing the obs.

The big thing was at about 12:30 when I position a warp prism above his base in preparation for a dt drop. He immediately brings 3 stalkers and his observers back to his main. I thought this might just be good foresight on his part, but after awhile, he moves them away because I haven't moved in to drop yet. There was another odd thing in this game that you missed, at...like 6:15ish, he moves his army out to the gold to intercept your stalkers rallied there, then goes running back to his Nat. Could be luck but if you pause when he orders the move, his cam is on top of your stalkers - I guess you could justify that as looking for a secret expo however.

Honestly, I think the second and third observer snipes are way more convincing than the first one - still, if I had to go off of those alone, I wouldn't confirm though. I will agree with you on that Warp Prism deal. He knew right where that Warp Prism was going to come in from, he was positioned in the perfect spot to intercept it. Then when those DTs came warping in, everyone came running back into the main. And I can't blame the cloak wavy effect here, he never even looked at the DT's until he was shooting at them, he didn't see the wavy cloak effect and go "SHIIIIIIII" and move everyone back. That combined with the obs snipe, and the army move, I'll say yes.

Also, props for being gm.

-He looked at your base to send the lings
-Based on his scouting and yours, it was obvious where you were. Even if he couldn't figure it out from your scout, he ovie scouted close air and knew you were either close ground or cross positions. Don't you think it makes sense to send his lings where he did?

There is no evidence of your opponent hacking. Please review the guidelines in the OP before posting here again. My advice to you is manner up and don't be so suspicious of others.

He 9-pooled by the way.

are you serious?

When he first looked at my base I hadnt even scouted his base yet and he looked at my base several times throughout the entire replay, what other evidence do you want?

And having no scouting overlords around my base or at the bottom of his ramp doesn't make you suspicious at all?

edit: And he didn't even have lings yet when he looked at my base (after 1 minute - what game are you playing??) get your facts straight.

edit: I just watched the replay again - he looked directly at my base at around 1:20 without sending a drone to scout - I haven't scouted him yet (obviously) - he didn't scout my base for the entire game. at around 8:30 he looks at my marines through the fog of war - again he didnt scout them.

And a little bit later he looks at my main for a good 10 seconds - again no scout, all he could have seen was 2 barracks and a bunker (what he saw after his 9-pool)

if this isn't obvious maphacking then I don't know what other evidence you need.

-sending lings to the right base is not evidence
-looking at your base briefly on 1-2 occasions is not good evidence

read the OP. If you're still lost, look at a replay of an actual hacker. All of the points you bring up are explained by your spawn positions + overall level of play from both players.

If arb/torenhire look at this, I am confident they will agree that the replay you submitted does not provide evidence of hacking.
