Fanclub thread creators that are banned/inactive

Is there anything that can be done about this? While not many fanclubs suffer from this, there are some fanclubs that have users that are banned or don't update the OP anymore, and the fanclub then has to be remade from scratch and it loses all the posts that were made and is just a hassle in general.

I know for a fact that the MVP fanclub had to be remade and now there are a lot less posts, also currently the qxc fanclub's creator is permabanned.

Would it be possible for an elected "fanclub chairman" of sorts to be made the OP so they can edit it and update it?

Example: Bob created IdrA fanclub. Bob gets permbanned/goes inactive. IdrA fanclub had 1000+ pages, Bill now remakes fanclub but has a lot less posts.

Proposed alternative: Mod makes Bill(elected chairman) the topic starter of the thread, so the thread retains its amount of pages while still allowing more information on the player to be added to the OP

Maybe it isn't that big of a deal, but the amount of pages a fanclub has is kind of an "e-peen" thing

its a good indicator of a players notoriety and fanbase IMO. And it seems relatively easy to implement

Maybe it can be handled on a case by case basis via PM's? Thoughts?

I believe if the OP needs to be changed, you can p.m staff with the edits needed, though I'm not sure if they want to consistently do it.

There's no way to change who controls the OP of a thread. You just have to make a new thread.

Alternatively (terrible suggestion), you can PM a mod whenever you want to edit something into the OP. I can't think of a mod who would ever sanely agree to that.

I definitely think this is a big issue, if fan clubs are to live up to their full potential. Another very neglected fanclub is Cella's, despite the OP still posting elsewhere.

That is one thing I think need's changing relatively soon, there are a lot of list-type threads that are neglected. One that comes to mind is the thread about pro-gamer's and what keyboards/mice/mice-pad.

It's mainly a policy decision. If the admins decide they want it, then anybody with direct database access can change the owner of a post. That causes some slight disturbances with postcounts and the name of the thread creator shown in the forums list, but deleting posts does too, and we still delete posts.
In the long run community owned posts might be nice. Where anybody who has enough posts/time on the site can edit the post.
