Day 2 of the Code-A Round of 16 shapes up to be an interesting one, with my personal favourite MVP_Keen playing for glory while our previous World Champion IMMvp plays for retribution, as he looks to get back in to Code-S. SlayerS_Min on the other hand will be no push over, proving in the past GSTL, he can be a force to be reckoned with who Mvp should definitely not underestimate.
MVP_viOlet < VS > SlayerS_YugiOh
Game 1 - Xel’Naga Fortress
+ Show Spoiler +
viOlet spawns at 7 and YugiOh spawns at 11 for this ZvZ and first match of the day. Both players go for a standard Spawning Pool timing however viOlet has already taken his Extractor. YugiOh sends 6 Zerglings to the base of viOlet as he is forced to defend with his Drones only, quickly followed by his own Zerglings spawning, fending off the attack. viOlet now throws down a Baneling Nest while YugiOh has two Queens already out attempting to block his main ramp. A Spine Crawler now goes up at the main ramp of YugiOh, as Banelings and Zerglings sit in the natural of YugiOh. Attempting to bust, viOlet attempts to push up the ramp, moving a Queen out of place and running in with a lot of Zerglings, doing a little damage to the Zergling force of YugiOh as well as his Drone count as well.
With a Roach Warren now finished for YugiOh, a small skirmish in the natural of viOlet sees Zerglings chasing Zerglings, while Banelings attempt to sneak past viOlet’s Spine Crawler but do little to no damage. viOlet now invests in his own Roach Warren as YugiOh attempts to expand, however a good use of Zergling harass gets the kill on the expansion quickly followed by a retreat. viOlet attempts to throw his own expansion up as YugiOh pushes in to his natural with Banelings and Roaches, however viOlet denies the harass with his own Roach force. YugiOh’s natural during this was slightly harassed by Zerglings but the push was denied by his own Roaches as well.
YugiOh now sacrifices an overlord to do some scouting in the main of viOlet, as both players currently stick to Hatchery tech. YugiOh throws down duel Evolution Chambers as viOlet continues to pump Roaches at an alarming rate. viOlet begins to push out as YugiOh starts +1 weapons research. Pushing in to the natural, viOlet’s force is initially larger, however reinforcing Roaches from YugiOh makes for a losing battle for the aggressor, forcing the retreat as YugiOh is in hot pursuit. Pushing in to the natural of viOlet, Roach vs Roach action begins however the reinforcing Roaches of viOlet win him the battle eventually, despite the +1 completing for YugiOh.
viOlet begins +1 as YugiOh goes for Lair tech as well as +1 armor. viOlet begins to push out with almost 30 Roaches to combat yugiOh’s current 15. Pouring in Speedlings, viOlet takes out the majority of yugiOh’s Roaches, as viOlet commits to the attack by pushing in to the main of the defender. YugiOh GGs as his production is crippled, having to pull his Drones off the line to secure the defense.

Game 2 - Metalopolis
+ Show Spoiler +
On to Metalopolis now where viOlet spawns at 9 while YugiOh spawns at 3. viOlet opts to go for a 9 Spawning Pool as YugiOh spawns cross positions and spots the Zerglings on the way. With his own Spawning Pool just completing, YugiOh begins to make Zerglings as viOlet’s start harassing Drones, quickly fending it off even though viOlet reinforced with more Zerglings. Speed for Zerglings finishes up for YugiOh, as both players attempt to secure their expansions, along with YugiOh trying to throw up a Roach Warren. viOlet throws down a Baneling Nest, quickly followed by a cancel in to Roach Warren for himself.
YugiOh throws down his own Baneling Nest, however also cancels after scouting that his opponent has Roaches. viOlet sacrifices a few Zerglings to get some good scouting intel on the main of YugiOh, and as YugiOh tries to secure a 2nd expansion, viOlet denies it with well placed Zerglings. Sneaking more Zerglings in to his opponents base, viOlet attempts to focus down some Drones but it’s denied pretty quickly by a huge force of Roaches. YugiOh begins to morph in a Lair, as both players mass up Roaches in the front of their naturals. YugiOh morphing in a second Lair (however this is a mistake and cancels it just in time) while viOlet goes for a Lair and a 3rd. Both players go for Glial Reconstitution while Burrow finishes up for YugiOh.
viOlet throws down an Infestation Pit as well as begins Infestor production after his Pathogen Glands research finishes. YugiOh moves all his Roaches to 3rd of viOlet, and as Roaches meet Roaches, absolutely huge Fungals land on almost the entirety of YugiOh’s force, doing massive damage. viOlet now goes for the gold base, as his force now massively outnumbers the force of his opponent. As YugiOh pushes to cancel the gold, and is successful, viOlet goes for another base in the north. viOlet pushes in to the natural of YugiOh, however the concave of the defender is too much for the aggressor, despite some good Fungal Growths from both parties, along with some Infested Terrans from viOlet. A great defense by YugiOh forces back viOlet’s army, however having not taken a 3rd expansion, viOlet is ahead in economy.
YugiOh pushes to the middle, engaging viOlets Roach/Infestor mix. Both players throw down nice Fungals and both retreat to defensive positions. During this, viOlet sends Roaches to counter attack, killing off the 2nd expansion of YugiOh, as viOlets economy allows him to re-max so quickly against YugiOh’s depleting army. Pushing in to YugiOh’s natural, viOlet secures the match and series in convincing manner, taking this ZvZ 2:0.

Game 1 - Tal’Darim Altar LE
+ Show Spoiler +
Min spawns at 2 while our World Champ spawns at the 11. Mvp begins to wall off the front of his main as Min goes for a Hatchery first, shortly followed by gas then Spawning Pool. Min scouts the tech lab going down on the Barracks, the Reaper and finally the expansion of Mvp as well. Mvp moves in to the natural of Min, however Zerglings chase the Reaper away. A Baneling Nest goes down for for Min, while Mvp goes for 3 more Barracks and Bunker to defend his natural.
Min starts to move across the map with a lot of Zerglings, as well as morphing in lots of Banelings. Moving up the ramp for a Baneling bust, he takes out the Bunker as Zerglings charge in to take out the remaining Marines. Min continues to rally Zerglings and morphs in even more Banelings, busting down the main wall of Mvp and taking out a lot of SCVs and Marines, quickly securing the GG from Mvp in a massive upset for one of the best Terrans in the World.

Game 2 - Dual Sight
+ Show Spoiler +
Our victor from the last match, Min, spawns at the 3 while Mvp spawns at 9. Mvp opts for a wall-in as Min goes for a Hatchery first, as well as an early Drone scout. Mvp goes for a “Maka” Barracks with no gas, hoping to put some 2 Barracks pressure on. Putting down a Bunker along with rallying Marines to the natural, Mvp begins to do a lot of damage to the Drones however as the Spawning Pool is late, huge damage gets done to Min, and he quickly GGs shortly after.
Game 3 - Terminus RE
+ Show Spoiler +
After a short game, Min spawns at the 12 and Mvp spawns at the 9. Mvp for the third time begins to wall-in against his Zerg opponent while Min goes for Hatchery first yet again. With Orbial Command constructing, Min throws down his Spawning Pool whilst continuing to pump a huge amount of Drones. Mvp goes for the Command Center on the high ground as well as throwing down 2 gas, while Min’s Hatchery completes and Zergling Speed gets under way. Mvp goes for a Factory as well as Siege Tech, while Min goes for a Roach Warren and a 2nd expansion to get even further ahead in economy.
A sacrificed overlord spots the Factory for Min, as Mvp has walled off his natural, while Min invests in a Lair shortly followed by an Infestation Pit. As a Hive and Spire morph in for Min, Mvp goes for a drop which is spotted by an overlord, quickly followed by a deny from Min with Roaches and Zerglings. Min goes for an extremely fast Greater Spire, along with Pathogen Glands for his Infestors, as Mvp continues Tank production along with a Starport with Reactor.
Mvp moves his force towards the middle ground, as Broodlords begin to morph in for Min. Min engages a few Marines of Mvp, as Viking production begins to combat the Broodlords. Mvp moves to Siege up the 3rd expansion of Min, however the entire force of Min does a huge amount of damage to Mvp’s army with Fungals and Broodlings, forcing the Terran to retreat. As Vikings rain down missiles on the Broodlords, Min pushes Mvp all the way back to his natural, however a fortified entrance denies Min anymore room, making Min fall back to his bases.
Mvp having already taken his 3rd base, goes for a 4th while Min gears up to take a 5th. Mvp attempts a drop while taking out Overlords with his Vikings. Stimming with his dropped Marines, Mvp shuts down the mining for just a while but is forced to retreat by Zerglings. Mvp moves his entire force to take out the 5th of Min, however a huge flank from Min throws down some major Fungal growths on the army, but Mvp kills the Hatchery regardless. Min moves in to mid-field with his army again, comprising mostly of Corruptors/Broodlords/Infestors, attempting to take out the entrenched position of Mvp, however Mvp’s defenses hold and Min is forced to retreat.
Min begins to expand once again to the 3 o’clock position, as Mvp gears up for yet another drop on the newly hatched expo. Min spots the drop and denies the majority of the damage that could have potentially been done. Mvp how moves his force closer to the new expansions of Min, as Min throws down a Nydus worm. An engagement in the middle sees all of Broodlords get taken out by Vikings, putting Min in a bad spot against Mvp’s Tank/Marine force. Min pushes in to the 6 o’clock expansion of Mvp with a few Zerglings but the Planetary Fortress denies much damage being done.
Against the wall, Min is unable to do much as Mvp continues to assault the two expo positions of Min. With Min’s economy crippled, Min GGs after pulling all his Drones for one final, failed assault.

Game 1 - Crevasse
+ Show Spoiler +
VanVanth, a.k.a. BanBans spawns at the 7 while Keen spawns at the 2. Both players open pretty standard in the cross-positions PvT, as Keen goes for a 3 Barracks opening, while BanBans goes for a fast Nexus after Core. BanBans spots the Keen-Marine push with a well placed probe and is ready for it back home, as warping in Stalkers clean up Keen’s push very easily. While this is happening, Keen takes his expansion, as BanBans takes a very fast second expansion in a great move of game awareness.
BanBans throws down a Robotics Facility and Robotics Bay, as he begins to take down the rocks in mid-field to open up more attack paths. Keen on the other hand scouts the second expansion of BanBans, quickly followed by his own second expansion and a Starport. Keen begins to move out with a heavy Marine/Marauder force, however once again the push is spotted by a Watchtower. Nice force-fields catch the push and demolish it, as BanBans takes a commanding lead in both supply and economy.
With Colossi production under way, BanBans throws down a Forge and Twilight Council while Keen tries to secure his 2nd expansion. Blink now being researched for BanBans as well as throwing down a few more Gateways to compliment his already striking lead. Keen with Vikings now in production, throws down an Armory and as BanBans’ Blink finishes, he instantly begins Charge as well. BanBans throws down a second Robotics Facility as well as pushes out to the mid-field to claim some ground and put down some proxy pylons. As Keen continues to reinforce his army with Marine/Marauder/Medivac, BanBans throws down a Dark Shrine. BanBans force is looking scary now as he has 7 Colossi however a huge ball of Vikings for Keen will potentially tear them apart.
The engagement occurs in the front of Keen’s base, and even though the Colossi die very quickly to the Vikings, they don’t die quickly enough, as BanBans force rips through the Biological force, as well as the Landed Vikings in quick fashion. BanBans during this has secured a 4th base as well as taking his 5th, as Keen is forced back in to his main by a huge reinforce by the Protoss. Keen is quickly forced to GG after a very well played PvT by BanBans.

On to game two now where BanBans spawns at 9 and Keen spawns at 6, making for close-by-air positions. Both players open standard as Keen opts to go for an early Reaper and a second Barracks. In an odd twist, a Proxy Robotics Facility goes down for BanBans, as well as a few more Gateways in his base. The Reaper for Keen jumps in to the base of BanBans, killing one or two Probes, however the Reaper gets cleaned up quickly shortly after. BanBans from the proxy Robotics Facility produces a few Immortals as well as warping in Gateway units.
Keen engages the Gateway only force of BanBans, as his Immortals are out of position, killing off a lot of his force, but the Immortals come in from behind but get taken down as well. BanBans attempts to push in once again but it’s unsuccessful, and to add insult to injury, Keen finds the Robotics Facility, taking it out. BanBans attempts to grab an expansion as Keen moves around taking out a lot of BanBans’ force, claiming the GG and tieing the series 1:1.

On to the final game of this series, BanBans spawns at 12 while Keen spawns at 9. Both players once again go for a rather standard opening, however BanBans goes for a slightly earlier second gas and Keen opts for the 1 Barracks expand. BanBans quickly opts for a Robotics Facility as 2 more Barracks go down for Keen. 3 more Gateways go down for Banbans along with a Warp-Prism in production, so it looks like he’s going for a back-door 4gate. Moving the Warp-Prism past a tower foolishly, BanBans is denied the drop and warp-in by Keen’s Marines, forcing him to go home and expand.
Keen now going for a Factory as BanBans goes for a hidden 3rd base in the 5 o’clock position, as well as a Robotics Bay. Keen keeps pumping his Marine/Marauder composition while trying to get Medivac production under way as well. Keen now also goes for a 3rd base, as well as gearing up for a double Medivac drop in the second natural of BanBans, currently un-occupied. Keen charges up in to the natural of BanBans, sniping a Colossi and quickly retreating. As both players fall in to a more passive mood, Keen moves his force to the mid-field while Keen lands his Factory to potentially deny the second natural of BanBans. Keen manages to spot the hidden expansion of BanBans, sends a small crack squad of Biological forces down there and takes it out in clean fashion.
As BanBans researches Charge, he also takes out the Factory and attempts to expand to his second natural. BanBans is almost 50 supply down now though due to Keen’s macro exploding throughout the past 5 minutes. Charge finishes and Blink starts up instantly, while Ghosts begin production and another 2 Command Centers finish for even more economy. Keen constantly scans the force of BanBans, keeping checks on it’s movements. Keen pushes in to the force of BanBans, focussing down the Colossi with Vikings and the Biologicical force rips through the rest. Keen pushes in to the natural of BanBans, landing the killing blow and taking the GG from our Protoss player.

Game 1 - Crossfire SE
+ Show Spoiler +
CoCa spawns at 7 while Noblesse spawns at 1. Noblesse opens with a 2 Barracks at the top of his ramp, while CoCa opts to go for Spawning Pool before expansion. CoCa throws his expanion down as he also spots a Command Center with a well placed Overlord. Noblesse goes for double Factory play while CoCa goes for a Roach Warren in what is currently a very passive game. Noblesse begins researching Blue-Flame and Hellion production, while Roaches galore are pumped by CoCa.
CoCa begins to morph in a Lair as well as Baneling Nest, as the Hellion count for Noblesse increases. As the Hellions and Marines move out, Noblesse drops the scan on the natural of CoCa, quickly followed by a fall-back due to seeing too many Roaches. With Tanks and Siege on the way, our Zerg player begins to research Sacs for Overlords, as well as Glial Reconstitution for Roaches. Noblesse throws down a Starport however continues to pump Tanks. The Terran charges in to the natural of CoCa with 8 Hellions, attempting to kill a lot of Drones, but only gets a few kills before it’s cleaned up by Roaches.
CoCa gears up to make a huge push on the natural of Noblesse, as he loads up all his overlords with Roaches, dropping them all over the Tanks of the Terran, however despite doing a lot of damage, Noblesse is able to clean up as his Tanks are positioned far apart enough to not all die. CoCa expands to a 3rd now as a failed drop from Noblesse in the natural of the Zerg is pushed away. Noblesse notices the 3rd of CoCa and a drop kills a few Drones before being forced to retreat by Roaches and Banelings. At the same time a second drop attempts to breech the natural but it is unsuccessful. Banelings kill off a few Marines at the 3rd, as CoCa gears up to go for yet another huge Drop push on to the main force of the Terran. A huge push sees the Banelings dropped all over the force of Noblesse, doing huge damage with Roach support. Noblesse falls back to his natural but CoCa in hot pursuit, as Noblesse holds his natural against a huge amount of Roaches.
More drops in the natural of CoCa get cleaned up, as well as at the 3rd, however keeping CoCa on his toes, Noblesse tries to pull his way back in to this game. A Queen gets picked off at the 3rd while it gets taken out completely. CoCa gears up for what looks like the final assault, dropping Banelings from Overlords, however Noblesse cleans it up and CoCa GGs straight after.

Game 2 - Xel’Naga Fortress
+ Show Spoiler +
CoCa spawns at the 3 while Noblesse spawns at the 7. CoCa opts for a Hatchery first as Noblesse begins to wall-in his main base. A quick Factory for Noblesse goes down as CoCa gears up to go for Zergling Speed pretty quickly. A second Factory goes down so it’s likely to be a Hellion opener as a Spine Crawler goes down at the natural of CoCa. Noblesse adding 2 Reactors to the Factories, disregards Blue-Flame and goes straight for a lot of Hellions however one is spotted by a well placed Overlord.
Noblesse pulls all his SCVs for an all-in attack which is scouted half way across the map, however a lot of Banelings spawn for CoCa as well as 3 Spine Crawlers finishing just in time. Noblesse spotting the Spines decides to send his SCVs back to the base as he attempts to contain with 9 Hellions. With CoCa’s economy doubling that of Noblesse, a Command Center finally goes down while he begins Tank production.
CoCa having already teched to Lair, throws down a Spire and Macro Hatchery. With Baneling Speed also on the way, Noblesse finally secures his natural however CoCa already takes his 3rd base while being very ahead in supply. With 9 Mutalisks on the way, Noblesse Hellion contain begins to persist up until the forces of CoCa push out with Air control. Game 3 - Metalopolis
+ Show Spoiler +
In the final game of the night, CoCa spawns at 2 while Noblesse spawns at 5. CoCa goes for a Hatchery first while Noblesse begins to wall off his ramp. Noblesse goes for a Command Center after the first Barracks and CoCa’s Zergling Speed is on the way. A Factory for Noblesse begins while a small crack squad of Marines does a little scouting around in mid-field. Another Factory goes down however CoCa with more great Overlord placement scouts it once again, as Blue-Flame begins along with Hellions.
CoCa begins to morph his Lair and having already invested in a Baneling nest, throws a Spire down shortly after. Noblesse moves out with 6 Blue-flame Hellions, as well as a lot of Marines. CoCa having spotted it morphs in a few Banelings which hatch just before the Hellions arrive. With two Thors in production, Noblesse falls back with his Hellions/Marines as he can’t really get up the ramp of CoCa without taking huge damage. CoCa throws down a macro Hatchery as well as 2 Evolution Chambers to begin upgrades. A 3rd base gets planted for CoCa as well while Mutalisks chase the Hellions away in mid-field.
While CoCa tries to do some Mutalisk harass in the main and natural of Noblesse, our Terran player attempts a Hellion run-by in CoCas main, however it’s dealt with extremely quickly by Zerglings who get the surround. CoCa begins to research Burrow while Noblesse attempts to grab a 3rd as well as having more Tanks in production. The force of Noblesse comprising of Thors/Tanks/Marines moves to defend the 3rd, as CoCa morphs in another 30 Banelings to boot. With a Hive now morphing in, CoCa attempts to lure the Marines to burrowed Banelings but it’s unsucessful as Tanks soak the damage.
As Noblesse moves across the map, CoCa gets a huge flank off on unsieged Tanks and the rest of Noblesse’s forces, which clean up the majority of the Terran forces. Pushing in to the natural of Noblesse, CoCa does huge damage to the the mineral lines, as well as dancing his Zerglings, literally, in front of the SCVs. CoCa morphs in a Greater Spire as well as a massive amount of reinforcing Zerglings and Banelings, attempting to finish off Noblesse, but the ever resiliant Terran refuses to give up even though his economy is pretty much dead. CoCa pushes in for the killing blow and Noblesse GGs quickly to the swarm.
