Surprised to have not seen this, but I caught a glimpse of this surfing the MLG site after reading the interview with IdrA and thought I should post it here. I think it's a personal sponsorship, not sure how it works with Team Liquid being sponsor by The Little App Factory, but here is the press release.
We recently introduced Sony Ericsson as a new sponsor of MLG for 2011, and their newest Android smartphone, the Xperia™ PLAY, as the official mobile handset of MLG.

So I assume that means that TLO will be at all of the MLG events on Sony's bill? If so, I'm even more hyped for MLG Dallas!

They probably choose TLO because he's such a nice guy and has a huge fanbase,
definitely someone you would want to represent you because it's so hard to hate him.
And even if he hasn't been successful lately, he has so much talent that he's going to play well again.
Can't wait for his TSL3 match again Nada !

TLO understands showmanship like Boxer and is a great, likeable guy like Nony. He deserves it.

This says even more than some of you might realize. From what I remember of my dabbling in FPS pro news, Tsquared is a massive name. This is essentially a recognition of TLO as the "best" player by Sony Ericsson considering that they're pairing him with Tsquared as a FPS/RTS combo. That's quite the declaration.
Of course, I love TLO and think he's awesome, so I'm cool with that, haha. I certainly wouldn't say he's number one going into this (and I honestly don't think anyone would), but he's definitely a threat to everyone there.

He had to take a step back due to Carpal Tunnel but he said he is doing fine now and is going hard!

You need to do a marketing course - it's got nothing to do with being the best; and has everything to do with who attracts the most attention; usually those 2 seem to coincide, but in this case i don't think anyone would say TLO is "the best" at the moment (he is most certainly a top player) but he has always been a fan favourite that everyone comes out to see.. He gets great exposure, plain and simple..
