Rock: “Getting 1 win has a lot of meaning to me”
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/1ovyG.jpg)
There was a glow to Rock’s face when he entered the interview area. Rock had achieved a win as Air Force ACE’s first player sent out. It had been 1195 days since the last time he won in Proleague. Rock’s contribution to his team was 0%. But Manager Park Deh Kyung believed in Rock and decided to give him a chance, and Rock lived up to his expectations. Rock had made great efforts in order to make 1 win. He watched countless numbers of VODs in order to grasp an understanding of Hite Entus’s players’ tendencies and trends in their games. That is why he had the firm belief that Snow would not use Dark Templars against him. Rock said many times that the 1 win he made would change his life greatly. Rock talking repeatedly about 1 win’s importance was like seeing a newcomer’s fresh debut in Proleague. [T/N: Lol, this interviewer is so rude…]

Q: Your thoughts on getting a win after 2 years?
A: I had a sense of duty that I had to win no matter what. I went with the mindset that if I lost, then the whole team would lose, so I made great efforts to win. I don’t remember how the last game I won had went at all. It feels like I got my first win after just becoming a pro gamer. [T/N: Oh man, his last win was in 2009 in the Batoo OSL… Poor Rock.

Q: You had a game without Dark Templars in it.
A: In order to get 1 win, I had to get an understanding of all the Hite players’ tendencies in their games. I had confidence that

Q: You still had trouble with

A: Even while I was attacking him, I had doubtful thoughts come into my head. Since he is considerably younger than me, his momentum was greater than I thought. His control was too good.
Q: You played some mind games when you canceled your Dragoon range upgrade.
A: After I scouted out my opponent, I used deception. I also had an idea of

Q: You lost in vain in the 2nd set.
A: After I poured all my strength in the 1st set, I lost in vain. Because getting one win was my life goal, after I achieved that goal, it seemed that I was too absorbed in my happiness.
Q: It seems that you’ve been getting a lot of motivation from seeing

A: It’s only natural that players that do better get sent out more. That’s why rather than being disappointed about not having that many opportunities to participate, I thought that I had to work even harder. Getting 1 win today has made me form confidence and faith in myself.
Q: Now there are no more matches for a month. Do you have any remaining regrets left over?
A: My strength wasn’t as good as I thought it was. To me, getting 1 win was really crucial. Today’s win seemed to have made a huge change to my pro gaming life. It also seemed to have caused a huge influence on my mentality and mindset. Today’s win has changed many things. I think that it will have a lot of influence on me in the future. Because getting a win was so important to me, not having matches for a while isn’t a huge disappointment to me. [T/N: Meet Rock, changed and enlightened pro gamer. And nooo, no Proleague for a whole month! QQ]
Q: Any last words you want to say?
A: A lot of Protoss players helped me out for the sake of this match, so I’m really thankful to them. During the long period where I couldn’t make any wins, thanks to the fans that have kept on steadily supporting me, I was able to win. I’m really grateful to the fans that didn’t abandon me and didn’t forget about me. I also want to thank the main head of electronics director Lee Sang Ho along with head director Yoo Kyung Won and our manager who helped me during my losing streak.

Air Force ACE’s Iris made 2 kills in the match against Hite Entus, ending his team’s 11 loss losing streak and had the role of deciding the conclusion. Furthermore, Hite Entus was the former team of Iris before he enlisted in the air force. To win against former teammates who used to live together and ate out of the same pot as you is usually hard on the heart, but for Iris, having a match against his old team was enjoyable. Iris stated that if he faced off against his former team, then his winning rate would even improve. After hearing his explanation for his seemingly misunderstanding words, a natural understanding was reached. Even though there haven’t been many chances to have a real showdown with his former team while in Air Force ACE, Iris had the desire to test and personally assess his former teammates’ skill. Although he is in Air Force ACE, Iris is a person who has been dreaming of returning to Hite Entus after getting discharged from the military.
Q: Your thoughts on winning?
A: It was regretful that I won against my former team, but since our team won, I’m really happy.
Q: In your game with

A: If I have a match with a former teammate, then it’s really fun. Usually it’s hard to face a former teammate, but it was good to have a chance to compete with them and see their skill. If I have a game against teammates, then it seems that my results usually turn better.
Q: You showed very good timing attacks in your game with

A: As for other Zerg players, they usually don’t go 2 Hatchery, but

Q: You managed to seize a timing before

A: After I saw that he was going 2 Hatchery in the beginning, I saw what he was trying to do, so I boldly attacked him. That was successful. Rather than trying to analyze a game, I have a style where I play with force. After I see what my opponent is doing, I immediately make a decision. [T/N: Aka, Iris usually acts on the spot. That’s why we call him the Berserker!]
Q: Your game with

A: Seeing that my momentum hasn’t been that good recently, I didn’t expect to make a multikill. I didn’t really prepare for that map (Bloody Ridge). That’s why my preparation has been lacking, but to have those results seemed like an upset. Now that I’m riding my momentum, I think that we’ll be able to do well in Round 5.
Q: Do you have confidence that you’ll do well in Round 5?
A: I don’t have confidence in the Winners’ League format, but I think that our team’s momentum will come back again with the regular Proleague format. Winning our last match in Winners’ League has made us ride our momentum, and it seems that we’ll be able to show the air force’s best results in the remaining rounds.
Q: Your team only has 2 wins in Winners’ League. Aren’t you disappointed about that? [T/N: What kind of a question is this… This interviewer keeps on being so rude.]
A: It’s really regrettable. In order to break out of our slump in the new year, we’ll work hard so that we’ll be able to leap past this phase.
Q: What is your goal for Round 5?
A: My winning percentage hasn’t fallen below 50% until now, but I have more losses than wins. That’s why I’ll work hard to restore my winning percentage back to 50% again in Round 5.
Q: Any last words you want to say?
A: If it’s not in the Winners’ League format, I believe that our team is able to do well. Because we won our last match, it seems that we’ve gone off to a good start. I’m looking forward to and anticipating the next season.

Had to use Fomos's image instead of DES because they didn't upload a pic. Still lookin' like a baller though.
firebathero is always brimming with confidence. Even though he was criticized for his ceremonies during his time in Samsung KHAN, he did not waver and has taken the road to confidence. Even though he had enlisted for the air force, that self-confidence has stayed the same as usual. He believed that he would of course would win, and that belief has become reality. firebathero is now personally challenging himself to get a total of 100 wins. He stated that he wanted to get more than 15 wins in the next season. The words, “My mind is more at peace when our team loses over winning,” show that firebathero enjoys the games as themselves.
Q: Your thoughts on finishing the match with a victory for your team?
A: I knew that I was going to win. I thought that Terrans would definitely be able to win on Empire of the Sun.
Q: Did you practice a lot on the Empire of the Sun map?
A: I practiced more for the maps in the second half. Empire of the Sun is really favorable for Terrans. It was only natural that I won. But since I practiced equally for each of the maps, I had no problem with being sent out on any map. Because my practice was going the most well in Empire of the Sun, I had confidence that I would win.
Q: It seemed that because your team was in the lead, you were comfortable with being sent out.
A: I wasn’t anxious in my game today. For some reason I felt that I was being chased. If I win for some strange reason I get worried, but if I lose my mind becomes at peace (laughs). That’s why I didn’t have any anxiety in my game today.
Q: Why did you have that kind of feeling?
A: It seemed that it was because I was winning. When I’m losing, my mind becomes relaxed instead. [T/N: Apparently to firebathero, losing is more comfortable than winning. Shows what ACE’s losing streak has done to him…]
Q: Is there a particular reason why you went 2 Factory?
A: I haven’t been using 2 Factory that much recently, so that’s why I prepared to use it. Since I was able to confirm that my opponent was going for a fast expansion, I believed that I would be able to win.
Q: Still, you received a lot more damage from his Reavers than thought.
A: I didn’t even think that he would go Reavers. Honestly, my bases received a lot of damage from his Reavers. After my teammates’ games had ended, his Shuttle had entered my field of vision, but I didn’t see it. It was a relief though that after he harassed with his Reavers, he loaded his units into his Shuttle and received damage when it flew to the center, so I was able to win. Concerning the result, if he hadn’t lost his army in the center and attacked my tank line, he could have broken through it.
Q: Your momentum is the best out of Air Force ACE. But whenever you play well, your team doesn’t win. [T/N: This interviewer is worse than the Fantasy harasser one… y u hate ACE so much? What’d they do to ya?]
A: Since our team won, I wanted to do an interview (laughs). It’s my first interview in Winners’ League. It’s regrettable, but if our team wins, I get comforted. Coming to the air force, I’ve come to realize that a team winning is good rather than me winning. I haven’t been able to win that much, but ever since our win against MBC Game, our team’s mood has really improved.
Q: Do you have confidence that you’ll also do well in Round 5?
A: Even though we’ll be returning to the regular Proleague format, I have confidence that we’ll do well. During the month off I’ll rest well, and if we prepare for the next round, I think that we’ll be able to continue this momentum.
Q: What is your goal for Round 5?
A: I personally want to get more than 15 wins. I also want to get 100 wins. Right now since I’m at 90 wins in Proleague, I just need 10 more. My goal was getting 100 wins in Proleague at the start of the season, and I think that I’ll be able to achieve it with this momentum.
Q: A Terran successor will enter soon; how do you feel about that? [T/N: Say hello, Canata!]
A: I feel good about it. It seems that instead of another race, if another Terran comes in as a successor, I can learn from them about games and help each other, and especially, because I can treat them well and spoil them, it’s great (laughs). Also, I’ll become a Terran senior. [T/N: Uhh, Canata’s older than you firebathero… Shouldn’t he be the one spoiling you, lol? Gonna be awkward seeing firebathero showering Canata with compliments.]
Q: Now you have the Survivor Tournament left.
A: I only have thoughts where I will advance in the MSL. If I don’t get nervous on that day and show my skill, I think I’ll be able to have good results and win.
Q: Any last words you want to say?
A: None. [T/N: Like a boss.]
