I am proud to present to you the first RISING Cup, a premier tournament for players in the Gold Leagues and below. This cup was created to bring excitement, competition, and improvement to the lower levels of the game. I hope everyone has fun participating by entering or watching the live casts!

UPDATE: As only half or so of the participants have confirmed their spots, the "Confirmed Players" list will now not be official. We will just wait for the tournament start time and hope that the players show up. If they do not, we have an option of giving byes, or, if it doesn't fit the brackets, the brackets can be reorganized. Backup players will also be contacted, but I don't know how soon they will reply. Please anticipate a 15 minute delay. I believe the problem is that too many of the players who signed up are not frequenters of TL, with under 10 posts.
In addition, I forgot to provide the rules for observations. If Ipp and FaZe ask to obs a game, they must be accepted. In all other games, it is up to the players to decide whether observers will be allowed. In games where Ipp and FaZe are casting, they too need to accept observers before obs will be allowed. Players cannot limit, or pick who can observe as long as they allow observation.
UPDATE: The rules for replay submission have been changed. Please see the Progression section below. Basically, the score must be sent to RVRstarcraft@gmail.com per game, and replays need only be sent for games in the semi-finals and finals.

Update: The tournament has been given the go-ahead after the sponsorship deal was canceled. Everything will proceed as previously planned.
RISING Cup #1 will be held on August 28, 2010, on the NA servers.

While there is no prize for the first tournament, semi-finalists and finalists will be seeded automatically into the RISING Cup #2, which will likely have a winner-takes-all prize of $20.

PROGRESSION:
This tournament will consist of four rounds, with no third place round.
After each game, players must send the scores to RVRstarcraft@gmail.com. Once both opponents have done so, the brackets will be updated.
Title the Subject Line "Winner > Loser RoXX.X" For example, in the Ro8, Team might win Game 3 against Liquid, sending in the replay "Team > Liquid Ro8.3"
ONLY replays from the semi-finals and finals need to be attached to the e-mail. E-mails without replays attached will not be accepted.
If an opponent does not submit the score within five minutes of his opponent's submission, he do not get a chance to confirm the results.
The reason I want all the replays is because the semi-final and final games will be casted and uploaded on to Youtube.

Participants are not allowed to watch the stream until they have been eliminated, and their elimination confirmed by an administrator. If a player breaks this rule, he will be banned from all future RISING Cup tournaments.

Map-pool:
The map-pool for this tournament will consist of all official 1v1 ladder maps. After a match, losers get to pick the next map. The winners, however, have a chance to veto a map before the loser picks.

Upon registration, you must:
- Be in the Gold, Silver, or Bronze leagues.
- Have played at least 25 1v1 ladder matches.
- Have not been relegated from a higher division into G, S, or B in the past week.
- Provide your B.net 2.0 name, number, league, and race below.
Notice: It is the contestants' responsibility before each round to ensure that the first 3 points above are kept by their opponents. If a contestant is in violation of the rules, contact me.
