Jinro and Haypro at Inferno Online League SC2 Cup - Event Finished
Our two Swedes Jinro and Haypro were at at the Inferno-Online SC2 Cup #1 LAN last weekend, and if you were there you'd have got a chance to see them both looking as serious as ever. Hayder was knocked out by Jonathan in the quarter-finals, who went on to be eliminated in the semis.
Starcraft 2 is srs bznz.
Jinro had this to say about the event.
Last time I played a LAN event was at the 2004 Nordic WCG qualifiers, held at Inferno Online. Hopefully it wont be that long until the next one. It was great meeting everyone and I hope this turns into a monthly event! Thanks to Maven for hosting it. =]
All in all , we think our two Swedes had a lot of fun, and we look forward to seeing them perform well in local events in the months to come.
Hi Dario, and thanks for dropping by. How has release week been treating you?
Oh it's been really nice. I went to the midnight release in Berlin, which was lot of fun! And I spent a lot of time to play the campaign, but I am done with it now.
Campaign, eh? That's what everyone's been doing these days. How did you like it overall?
Oh, I love the campaign. I was always a big fan of the Starcraft lore and I must say it's just amazing!I think the other twp parts will be even better judging from the events in Wings of Liberty. Also, Blizzard already has the game finished so it will be easier to make the expansions.
Indeed. It's hard not to enjoy it.I think it's time we moved on to more serious matters though. TLOwnage has been the talk of the town lately and I think everyone's dying to know how you approached it. What did you set out to do, and how did you decide on the builds?
My goal was to play about 15 games doing really weird and stupid builds and to win all of them. Of course it was a little bit unfair as I was only playing random people who did not know anything about the game. I usually thought about what I could do right after my workers were split .
So the builds were quite literally developed on the fly? Awesome. Recent polls show that people were most impressed by your EMP and Nuke. Could you tell us a bit about the thought process behind that?
Haha! For that build I was REALLY praying that EMP works on command centers,.I knew it did in SCBW, but I had no idea if it still did! If it hadn't I would have looked like a pretty big idiot! The thinking behind it was that Terran relies on scans at the start of the game to have detection and almost no one builds turrets that earl. Even Ravens can be dealt with by ghosts if your opponent doesn't control them. properly. In fact, a weird ghost rush like that might actually work as a cheesy build vs good players from time to time.
Talking about viability, what other plays from TLOwnage would you see working in general vs top players?
Hmm... to be honest... I don't think any of the others are really gonna work. Unless someone completely neglects scouting, of course.
OK. We've said most fans liked the EMP + Nuke. What was your favourite game in TLOwnage though, and why?
Oh! In danger of sounding like a narcissist douchebag, the one I like the most is where I wrote "TLO" with Autoturrets. Let me explain why: In Supreme Commander you could have building templates and wall segments were almost for free. So it was really easy to write huge words on the maps, and that reminded me of my golden days in Supcom.
That was pretty awesome, yeah. Speaking of narcissism, there are some who say that you are just being a big meany and should stop pciking on noobs. What have you got to say to that?
Well, what can I say? It's just what you do when you're a total boss. Get up, eat some noobs for breakfast then go online and own the ones that didn't get the chance to hide in the trees fast enough. That's what I do man!
But Dario, some would say noobs are human too!
Weird, last time I checked the UN said you need to have at least 200 APM and be rainbow league to be called human.
Oh, right. Makes sense. Let's leave them noobs behind and talk a little about the pros. You've recently qualified for the German ESL Pro Series. How excited are you about this tourney, and who are you most looking forward to facing?
I'm totally pumped! It's the first time I am going to compete on a national level, only playing my countrymen (and Demuslim, since apparently he has defected to Germany). So, I hope I can manage to win this thing and show that I am the best my country has to offer. It's going to be hard though and people like Hasuobs and demuslim will be tough adversaries. In fact, that's exactly why I'm looking forward to playing them the most.
Right on. Well, thanks for talking to us Dario, and good luck with the EPS. Hope to see you again soon on Liquid' Weekly. Good games!

If you had to compare your SC2 Single Player experience so far to a book or movie, what would it be?
TLAF-Liquid`Tyler
Single player I'm gonna say is like the movie Serenity because Jim Raynor is like Malcolm Reynolds. Space cowboys. Rebels on the run from a corrupt and far reaching government. Raynor and Reynolds are both scrappy and resourceful. They'll both do shady jobs for money but they've got soft spots and, when it comes down to it, they're really about making the universe a better place.
TLAF-Liquid`Nazgul
Single player is a better version of Hancock.
TLAF-Liquid`Jinro
I'd compare it to a well made but poorly translated Japanese movie, where the plot seemingly has nothing to do with the purported dialogue. Honestly, the single player is really fun, but due to the "freedom of choice" in which order you do the missions, the characters will appear slightly... manic, going from "Yay we rule" to FML without explanation. It's like the plot and the dialogue start off married, but somewhere along the line they have a falling out and go their separate ways...
TLAF-Liquid`TLO
Definitely Starship troopers! "Shoot a nuke down a bug hole, and you got a lot of dead bugs."
Other than that SC2 has a pretty unique story in my opinion.
Well, that's all for now, folks. Thanks for reading, and we look forward to seeing you again next week for more on how the home team is doing.
