I just thought some of you might want to know this, seems if you mind control a detector it still provides detection for the original owners. Happens with observers, ravens and overseers.
Specificly the location where the unit was mind controled is forever more detectable in that area, even after the mind control has gone off.
Tried it out using the "TheUnitTester" map. But I cant seem to figure out how to save a replay when not connected to BNet.
How did you figure this out? Do you have any proof? I'm not very good with map editor triggers, so I'm not sure how I would test this while the game is down.

Does this mean that both players have detection in the original area where the detector was MC'ed? Or that the player who made the detector and had it MC'ed will have detection in that area? Is this permanent?

As the video shows, the owner of the detector has normal detection after the MC ends. The owner of the infestor only has detection where the MC was started, and only when they have units in the area (it doesnt give vision through fog of war).
Wow, if someone did that during a battle roaches could finally use their tunneling claws to full potential. Well once they fix that bug of course. I never knew this thanks! I'm a zerg player but I always forget to include inferiors in my build. Gotta use em more.
"Forever more detectable"....I wonder if that means that detectors are actually 2 units, one that detects, and the graphical one that does other stuff....MCing only gets control of the graphical one?
This may sound stupid...but it could explain the phenomenon, it happens in other games sometimes when a graphical unit gets out of alignment with the 'logical' position of the unit
(Bringing this issue up brings up additional questions: Does the orig owner of the detector unit maintain vision of the location even after the detector dies? Does the orig owner maintain vision of the location if the detector moves out, after the MC is finished (and does the detector also detect in its new location, or is the detection part (and/or vision capability) 'locked' to that previous position)?)

More realistically, the detection is probably an attribute of the observer/raven/overseer unit object, and the game is creating a second copy erroneously which has drawing disabled and has the parasiter's control. In that situation, the coders never intended to create a second unit, and as a result never bothered to write any code to delete it.
I tried to MC a detector, reason is if you can do the burrowed MC trick to MC the raven/overseer/observer then your roaches/infesters can stay burried (and use regen tricks on roaches or burrowed MC on better units) without a fear of being spotted.
Cant see how to use the forever more able to detect too much in a 1v1 game, maybe MC your friends detector in a team game though.....
This doesnt cause sight in the area though, so thier still needs to be a unit there to see the invis stuff.
My guess is like the "light map" that shows what areas of the map you can see, there is a "detection map" that shows what areas of the map you currently have detection for. And they forgot to remove the detection map part of a detector when it gets MC'ed

I didn't know you could MC while burrowed. Care to elaborate for a nab like me? Would make my day

My experience with the unit tester map has shown it to be pretty bugged with some effects related to units getting stuck.
For example, spawn a mothership, spawn a couple of units and move the mothership to the other side of the map, leaving the units behind. You should find the units standing where the mothership are still cloaked. If you move them to the mothership, they will uncloak as they cross the middle area, then recloak as they get under the mothership.
I heavily, heavily suspect this bug is related to the unit tester and not present in a standard game. Test it live. I would, but I can't because MY COMPUTER BLEW UP ON THE FIRST DAY OF PHASE TWO AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PLAY SINCE.
Erm, sorry for the all caps, that has been boiling away for a while.
