I just wanted to post a survey to see if people would actually boycott this game IF blizzard decides to go to release with the same format they have now for the social aspect of the game. I.E. no channels, you must have emails to add people unless you play them in a game. So here it is, please vote!
Poll: Would You Boycott SC2?I would still buy the game and continuously complain over the social aspect and lack of privacy. (390) 51% I would boycott SC2 if they launched with the current social aspect (190) 25% I would buy SC2 regardless of the social aspect (188) 24% 768 total votes Your vote: Would You Boycott SC2? (Vote): I would boycott SC2 if they launched with the current social aspect (Vote): I would still buy the game and continuously complain over the social aspect and lack of privacy. (Vote): I would buy SC2 regardless of the social aspect
EDIT: Umm so i am reading some of the posts people are writing and i just wanna make it clear this is not saying blizzard will release the game with this kind of social aspect. I am saying that IFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF blizzard releases it like how it currently is what would you do. I am pretty sure I just read somewhere that blizzard has done this on purpose in order to force our hand into testing the real ID friends and the facebook feature, but will be using identifiers hopefully again in the second phase of testing. But lets face it most of us would probably ignore the facebook feature if we can just add with identifiers.

I voted for buying the game regardless.
|
I would buy it, there's not enough solid competition in the RTS market for me to boycott :/ (I don't wanna play BW). I'm weak like that.
|
You don't have to only add people's emails. You can add them by right clicking their icon and selecting 'add friend.' Works for friends of friends, also.
|
Personally don't care about the "social aspect" I'm not even sure what that means.
Already bought my copy.
|
I wouldn't buy it. Screw that!
|
it just feels so wrong imo to promote a product from a company we have been so faithful to over the years and it really just feels like all they care about is money probably which facebook gave a lot of in order to have this done so. Either way i could be completely wrong and blizzard will listen to the outcry of its loyal fans, which would be awesome, so just keep on voting and hopefully something will happen heh

LOL, no ones gonna boycott SC2. This is like those stupid kids who want dedicated servers or something for MW2 and they all claimed they were going to boycott and then bam on release day they all bought and played it.
Suck. It. Up. Its already clear that the community disapproves of aspects of SC2 right now, that was made clear in kennigits thread. Stop making stupid whine threads like this.
|
How is this a decline of privacy? If anything it's an increase in privacy and a decrease in ease of use, no?
|
im not asking for a whine thread, i just want to see a public opinion on how extreme people would actually go over this, i on the other hand would buy it regardless and just complain but im curious to see if people would actually give up SC2 just cause of this

well I mean basically now if u ever want to apply for at tournament you'll never be known as your name, everyone will have access to your email address and real name if the sign ups are made public, I.E. in gosucoaching you gotta list your name on the website to be signed up, now which will seem to be your email address which some troll who may have beef with you can now go ahead and spam your email non stop if they really want to lol

I am still buying the game regardless of Bnet 2.0 not having channels as of right now. That being said I still find it completely necessary for Blizzard to implement channels for the actual game once it's released. Chatting, gaining friends through the game itself, and calling people out was so much fun in BW.

This is a terrible post.
The world doesn't come down to boycott and Suck. It. Up. It's perfectly reasonable for people to voice their opinions and try to get change to happen.
Also a bunch of people DID pass on MW2 because of lack of dedicated servers. Just because a bunch of whiny kids said they would then didn't doesn't mean that no one passed on the game. I, for example, skipped out on MW2 because of a lack of dedicated servers. I didn't sign any petition or anything like that. I just voted with my wallet and didn't pick up the game.

Im perfectly fine with BW so I picked boycott ^^
|
I find no reason to answer this poll because there is no way the scenario in question is going to happen. It is like asking would you boycott sc2 if they removed all races but zerg. Clearly there is functionality that has not been implemented yet because it is beta and there is no point in implementing it, then there is bugs and finally there is stuff that will be added now that they take down bnet 2.0 in a week to do work on the infrastructure.
Relax, sit back and have cup of coffee and have faith in the fact that no game developer is stupid enough to launch a huge community game with lacking social structure.
|
personally i don't care, but i can see how it piss people off. I just hate how anti social the game is in its current form. You can't F add anyone unless you already have their email, and there no channels to meet anyone. How the hell are you supposed to ever meet anyone on bnet2?

Whining about whine just adds to the situation, no?
Go. A. Way. : P

I'm really considering not to buy SC2. I'm also really worried about the fact blizzard have my real name on my account. Considering how serious they are managing the « social » part of bnet, I think I shouldn't gave them these data.
Moreover, the lack of LAN, the fact that some basic mecanisms are broken (like micro of many units), the need to log in before being able to do anything, etc . . . This is pretty scarry.

No one ever said you had to give them your real name.
