I saw some previous threads about rumors, but it's been officially posted on the GameStop webpages that they will be giving beta keys to people who are pre-ordering the game. You can get it online and they'll email it to you, go in-store and it'll be on your receipt, or pick everyone's favorite in-store pickup and you'd go in to the store to get one.
If you haven't figured out already, pre-order the game, but if you don't want it later on or just want a beta key, opt-out of the final purchase. My personal favorite method is to pre-order, then wait out for a better deal while getting all the pre-order perks, and return the new order when it comes in to get everything at the lowest price.
Edit: Looks like you can't cancel after getting the key...
BUT. Before you guys pre-order, if you and a friend are both interested in the deal, use the code 25OFF, which is good for 25% off the order if over 100. Sorry to anyone who didn't get to use it beforehand, I didn't either =(
Just want to also note the coupon code is for the total order, SC2 or not. Works for both collector's and Non-collector's edition.

Done. Waiting for the key.

Beat me too it. Notice the part about you cant cancel once you've gotten the beta key?
|
I figured I will be buying SC2 anyway... might as well get into the beta for the price of the game.
|
Yeah would do the same if I didnt live in EU and the international shipping fee

Available online and in-store while supplies last.
If they were supplied a limited number of keys, and they don't have anymore, because they warned you, you are just screwed. Make sure there some keys left before you buy

Is this being done with the collector's edition of the game as well?
|
I already order the CE las week. I hope the give out keys to people that preordered early.

You aren't quite screwed because if you don't get a key, you can still cancel your pre-order. Kind of silly saying you can't cancel your pre-order if they didn't give you real hard incentive to do so (IE: Giving you a key).

Pre-ordered ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) I hope they ship before the actual release date. I don't want the game 3 days after everyone starts playing T_T
|
I am going to look for an EU version offering the same... will report back... Work is slow
|
Do we have to do anything special for the beta key (i.e. promotion code) or are we just going to be sent it? I'm pretty sure the latter, just want to be sure.

I think they are just going to send it... probably sometime in the next 12 hours (due to US business hours).
