Q: You returned after 2 seasons, and it’s your 5th career MSL qualification
A: I still have yet to go to higher rounds in MSL. This time, I want to advance to at least Ro16 and I think I can do it as long as there is no team-kill.
Q: How was your game against
Notice?A: Recently, I’ve been playing a lot of Terrans, and 14CC seemed like such a good build. So far, I’ve been too timid to use a strategy like that, but I felt very good after successfully using a risky strategy.
Q: Your game against
free was a long gameA: I honestly couldn’t practice a lot on Match Point. Therefore, I copied the build that
HiyA used on BeSt last time. I was supposed to push after securing the mineral-only expansion, but because I got damaged a lot by the Reaver, I had to split the map. I usually don’t like this style of game, but I couldn’t help it in order to win this time.Q: You’ve qualified in both leagues
A: I set my personal standard as qualifying for both leagues, so I don’t feel proud or anything. Instead, I must advance to a higher place. There are so many good Terrans lately, so I have to do even better to be noticed.
Q: Your goal and resolution for this MSL
A: I think it’s too early to state a huge goal. For now, I want to be seeded by advancing to Ro8.
Q: Anything else?
A: Because Proleague was tomorrow, I couldn’t practice a lot for today, but my teammates helped me a lot despite the fact that we could only play a few games. I think a lot of my teammates will advance to MSL this season and I hope no one meets each other and advance higher. Lastly, I’m going to be the starter for our game against Hite Sparkyz, so I hope you all cheer for me.

- 2시즌 만에 복귀, 통산 5번째 MSL 진출인데
▲ 사실 MSL에서 높이 올라간 적이 한 번도 없다. 이번에는 16강 이상 가보고 싶고 팀킬전만 나오지 않는다면 올라갈 수 있을 것 같다.,
- 김경효와의 경기는 어땠나
▲ 요즘에 테란을 많이 만나는데 노배럭 더블이 너무 좋아 보이더라. 그 동안 소심해서 이런 전략을 잘 못썼었는데 오랜만에 과감한 빌드를 성공시켜서 기분이 굉장히 좋았다.
- 윤용태와의 경기는 장기전이었다.
▲ 사실 매치포인트에서 연습을 거의 못했다. 그래서 저번에 구성훈(화승) 선수가 재욱이형한테 썼던 빌드가 좋아보이길래 따라 해 봤다. 원래는 미네랄 멀티까지 먹은 상태에서 밀어 부쳤어야 하는데 리버에 피해를 많이 봐서 어쩔 수 없이 반땅 싸움으로 가게 됐다. 원래 이런 식의 경기를 좋아 하지는 않는데 이기기 위해서는 어쩔 수 없었다.
- 양대리거가 됐는데
▲ 양대리그를 기본적으로 올라가야 한다고 생각하기 때문에 아직 감흥은 없고 더 높이 올라가야 한다. 또 요즘 잘하는 테란들이 너무 많아서 더 잘해야 눈에 띌 수 있다.
- 이번 MSL에 임하는 목표와 각오는
▲ 지금 큰 목표를 얘기하기에는 이른 감이 있다. 일단 8강 시드를 받는 것을 목표로 하고 싶다.
- 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 내일이 프로리그라서 많은 연습을 하지는 못했지만 팀원들이 적은 경기였지만 정말 집중적으로 잘 도와줬다. 이번에 MSL에서 우리 팀원들이 많이 올라갈 것 같은데 서로 만나지 않고 서로 잘 올라갔으면 좋겠다. 또 내일 프로리그에서 내가 하이트전 선봉으로 나가게 됐는데 응원 많이 해주셨으면 좋겠다.

Q: Your feelings on returning to MSL after 2 seasons
A: My condition was alright for the games, but I regret losing my game against
fantasy because I had the advantage.Q: Why do you think you lost?
A: Normally in practice, if I’m in such a good position, I recall a lot more, but in this game I faced his army head-to-head too many times and got damaged quite a lot. In addition, I got EMPed at the worst timings. I realized from this game that Fantasy is really good at blocking recalls. There were always units at the places where I wanted to recall.
Q: Did the loss affect your next game?
A: I couldn’t practice a lot in Odd Eye, but I had already planned out build orders against Zergs and Terrans so I believed that I could advance.
Q: You completely defeated
Saint twiceA: I had originally planned two different builds for the two games, but after thinking about it, MBC players use Hydralisks so well so I was insecure. Before coming to the stadium, I asked Zero to try the build that Saint used on me. However, he broke through me easily, so I realized that if I don’t expand too quickly and stay safe, I thought I could win and that resulted in the sudden build order change. Looking at the results, I think it turned out well.
Q: It’s already your 9th MSL qualification. Your goal must be different
A: A goal is a goal, but in MSL, I haven’t played a lot of games that I liked, so I want to play without regrets this time. That’s my goal for now.
Q: Out of the Six Dragons, only
Stork remains to qualify.A: Although he says himself that he’s not playing well, I believe that he will definitely advance. He is a player who is capable of doing it rather easily. We were both busy recently and as a result I didn’t get to meet him for a while, so I want to see him at the MSL Group Selections.
Q: Anything else?
A:
PianO told me before the match that “although I disqualified, you will be able to advance” and gave me confidence. Despite the fact that he was disqualified, I thank him for giving me strong words. In addition, only the strong teams remain for us in the Winner’s League, but we’ll definitely beat them and try hard enough to get into the playoffs. - 2시즌 만에 MSL에 복귀한 소감은
▲ 게임 컨디션은 괜찮았던 것 같은데 정명훈과의 경기에서 유리했던 경기를 역전 당한 것 같아서 아쉬움이 많이 남는다.
- 정명훈과의 경기에서 패인은 뭐라고 생각하나
▲ 원래 연습 때는 그렇게 좋은 상황이면 리콜을 더 많이 했어야 했는데 너무 정면으로 하다 보니까 손해를 많이 본 것 같다. 또 EMP를 너무 적절한 타이밍에 많이 맞았다. 게임을 하면서 느꼈는데 정명훈 선수가 리콜을 굉장히 잘 막는 것 같더라. 리콜을 하려고 하는 곳마다 병력이 적절하게 있더라.
- 지고 나서 다음 경기에 영향을 받지는 않았나
▲ 오드아이에서 연습을 많이 하지는 못했는데 일단 저그전이나 테란전 모두 빌드를 짜 놓은 상태였기 때문에 진출할 수 있을 거라는 생각을 하긴 했다.
- 김동현에게 2번이나 압승을 거뒀는데
▲ 원래 두 경기 모두 빌드를 다르게 짜 왔는데 생각해 보니까 MBC게임 선수들이 히드라를 워낙 잘 쓰는 것 같아서 불안했다. 그래서 경기장에 오기 전에 (김)명운이한테 김동현 선수가 오늘 한 빌드를 써 보라고 했었다. 그런데 히드라에 그냥 뚫리길래 멀티를 빨리 먹지 않고 안정적으로 하면 이길 수 있겠다고 생각하고 빌드를 바꿨다. 결과적으로 잘 된 것 같다.
 
- 어느 새 9번째 진출이다. 목표가 남다를 것 같은데
▲ 일단 목표도 목표지만 MSL에서 스스로 만족하는 경기를 많이 못했었기 때문에 이번만큼은 후회 없는 경기를 펼쳤으면 좋겠다. 일단 그게 목표다.
 
- 이번 진출로 육룡 중에서는 송병구만이 남았는데
▲ 요즘 자기 말로는 못한다고 하지만 충분히 올라올 수 있을 거라고 생각한다. 충분히 그럴 수 있을 만한 선수다. 요즘 둘 다 바빠서 사적으로 본 적이 없는데 MSL 조지명식에서라도 봤으면 좋겠다.
- 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 임진묵 선수가 경기장에 오기 전에 ‘나는 떨어졌지만 너는 올라갈 수 있을 거다’라고 용기를 북돋아 줬다. 진묵이 형이 자기가 떨어졌으면서도 나한테는 힘이 되는 얘기를 해줘서 고맙다는 말을 하고 싶었다. 또 위너스리그에서 강팀만 남았는데 꼭 이기고 우리 팀이 포스트시즌까지 진출할 수 있도록 열심히 하겠다는 말을 전하고 싶다.
