Q: How do you feel about winning today?
A: I’m very happy. It was a day before New Year’s, so I had to leave early. I slept in the car, but there was such a huge traffic jam, so the car had only moved a block. Because of that, I had to run my way here, and I was in such a bad condition. I thought I would lose today, but the fans’ cheers gave me a lot of strength and I was able to win it 2-0.
Q: You have the record for most appearance to the OSL for a Protoss player
A: I got into a huge slump in 2006 which made me disqualify OSL for 2 straight seasons, but if it weren’t for that period of time, I think I could have easily gotten to rank 1, so it’s disappointing. However, in the past 4 years, I have never dropped out of the preliminaries, so I’m satisfied. Although my career isn’t too impressive, I want to continue to hold the record for most appearances.
Q: Practicing must have been hard
A: I’m sorry for
Lomo, but people around me told me to only practice PvZ, so I only practiced that matchup until Tuesday. However, when I saw Lomo beat 
EffOrt in Proleague, I thought that I should practice PvT as well, so it was hard.
Q: How did you prepare for today?
A: My teammates helped me so much. They told me to say their names when I won, so I thankSharp and oDin. Also, Lucky, Juni, great, hOpe, and Park Ji Hyuk helped me prepare until the beginning of the match, and some of them actually followed me to cheer me on, so I thank them as well. I was really touched by my teammates trying to help me despite the fact that their vacation had already started.
Q: Any plans for the New Year’s break?
A: Personally, I showed good results when I played near the time of New Year’s. I could never go home during holidays, and I can’t this year either, so I feel really bad. Usually, a lot of my teammates stay in Seoul, but oddly enough this year, they all went back home. Only me and one other member are staying this year. Honestly, my plans for winning and losing today were different.
Q: What were you going to do if you lost?
A: Whenever I lose, I have to forget about Starcraft, so I was planning to read Dragonball. I would've gone to drink by myself at a nearby food-truck (laughs). I also wanted to go to the river by myself (laughs).
Q: What are you going to do now that you won?
A: I will conquer One Piece this break (laughs). Also, I really loved mountains before I became a progamer, but I couldn’t go hiking once my career began. I want to go hiking by myself. I want to cook and watch a lot of TV as well.
Q: Your fans cheered passionately
A: I wasn’t doing so well recently, so I was hoping that a lot of people came to cheer me on for Ro16 qualification instead of Ro36. However, when my name was announced, there was so much cheering. I was able to win thanks to those cheers. I want to hear more of it as I advance through the rounds.
Q: You beatHoGiL 2-0 when you had a losing record against him
A: Because he was a Hite Zerg, I thought that it was possible that he tried 5 pooling in one of the 3 games, so I was prepared and luckily blocked it. In Fighting Spirit, I had faced the strategy before againsttype-b, so I was able to react to it well.
Q: Anything else?
A: When I was giving interview, people said that if I face Hogil, it would be “goodbye OSL,” but I advanced anyways. I think this season, no matter which opponent I face, I will be able to do well. Also, I’ve been doing well in international tournaments, and I’ve always used Korean Air whenever I had to get out of my country. My mileage is already almost at 25000. I’m aiming to be a Morning Calm member, and I’m wondering if they can give the membership to me now that I reached Ro16 (laughs). I even put my Sky Pass in front of my wallet, that’s how much I like Korean Air. I love you Korean Air!

Q 승리한 소감은.
A 너무나 기쁘다. 명절 전날 경기였기 때문에 일찍 출발 했는데 차 안에서 한숨 자고 났는데도 겨우 한블록 갔더라. 용산 역 앞에서도 너무 밀려서 차에서 내려 뛰어왔기 때문에 컨디션이 좋지 않았다. 그래서 오늘 왠지 질 것 같았다. 하지만 팬들의 응원 소리가 힘을 줬고 2대0으로 승리할 수 있게 만들어 준 것 같다.
Q 프로토스 선수로는 가장 많은 진출 횟수를 기록하고 있는데.
A 개인적으로 2006년에 암흑의 길로 접어들면서 스타리그를 2시즌 쉬었는데 그때만 아니었으면 1위로 올라설 수 있었을 텐데 아쉽다. 4년 동안 한번도 예선으로 떨어진 적이 없기 때문에 만족한다. 커리어로는 부족하지만 진출 횟수로는 독보적인 선수가 되고 싶다.
Q 연습하는 데 힘들었을 것 같다.
A (손)주흥이에게 미안하지만 주위에서 저그전만 연습하라는 말을 많이 들었기 때문에 화요일까지 저그전만 연습했다. 그런데 CJ전에서 주흥이가 김정우 선수를 이기는 것을 보고 안되겠다고 판단해 테란전도 연습하느라 정말 힘들었다.
Q 준비는 어떻게 했나.
A 팀원들이 정말 많이 도와줬다. 이기면 이름을 거론해 달라고 했는데 (조)기석이와 (주)영달이형이었다. 현장에 오기 전까지 도와주고 현장까지 따라와 (이)인수, (유)준희, (차)명환, (장)지수, (박)재혁이형에게 고맙다고 말하고 싶다. 팀원들이 집에 내려가서도 도와준다고 연락 오는 것을 보고 감동했다. 이 마음이 설 끝나고 까지
Q 설 계획이 있다면.
A 개인적으로 설 연휴가 껴 있을 때 경기가 있으면 성적이 좋았다. 항상 명절 때 집에 내려가지 못했는데 이번에도 못 내려 가게 돼 죄송하다. 원래는 팀원들이 서울에 남아 있는 경우가 대부분인데 이번에는 이상하게 팀원들 모두 내려간다. 숙소에서 나와 봉순이만 남게 됐다. 사실 졌을 때와 이겼을 때 생각했던 시나리오가 다르다.
Q 지면 어떤 계획이 있었나.
A 사실 지고 나면 스타를 잊어야 하기 때문에 드래곤볼 만화책을 섭렵할까 생각 중이다. 숙소 근처 포장마차에서 혼자 낭만적이게 술을 먹어 보고 싶었다(웃음). 한강에 혼자 가보고 싶은 생각도 했다(웃음).
Q 이기면 무엇을 할 생각인가.
A 이번 설 연휴 때 원피스를 정복하겠다(웃음). 그리고 게이머를 하기 전 산을 정말 좋아했는데 게임을 하고 난 뒤 등산을 하지 못했다. 이번 연휴 때 혼자 등산을 해보고 싶다. 요리도 해보고 싶고 TV도 실컷 볼 예정이다.
Q 팬들의 함성이 뜨거웠는데.
A 요즘 부진했기 때문에 36강 보다는 16강에 올라간다는 기대감에 사람들이 많이 왔으면 좋겠다는 생각은 했다. 하지만 내 이름이 호명되니 정말 큰 환호성이 들리더라. 그 환호성 때문에 이길 수 있었다. 상위 라운드에 가면서 계속 이 함성을 듣고 싶다.
Q 상대 전적에서 밀리고 있는 김상욱에게 2대0 승리를 거뒀다.
A 하이트 저그 선수들 스타일상 세 세트 가운데 하나는 5드론을 할 줄 알았기 때문에 생각은 하고 있었고 운이 좋게 막을 수 있었다. 투혼의 경우는 문성진 선수와 경기를 할 때 당해봤던 4해처리 전략이었기 때문에 쉽게 대처할 수 있었다.
Q 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말은.
A 인터뷰를 하고 주변 사람들에게 김상욱 선수와 붙으면 '굿바이 스타리그'라고 생각했는데 이기고 올라가지 않았나. 이번에 올라가면 누구를 만나도 잘 할 수 있을 것 같다. 또한 내가 외국 대회에서 좋은 성적을 거뒀고 외국을 나갈 때마다 대한항공을 이용했다. 벌써 마일리지가 25000점 정도 쌓일 정도다. 모닝캄 회원을 목표로 생각하고 있는데 혹시 16강 올라가면 그냥 해줄 수는 없는지 묻고 싶다(웃음). 내 카드지갑 맨 앞에도 스카이 패스가 가장 앞쪽에 놓아두고 있을 정도로 대한항공을 좋아한다. 대한항공, 사랑해요!
