Jaedong: "I am not satisfied with just the Golden Mouse."
"I was certain I would win 3:0 if I won the first set."
- What are your thoughts on your win today?
▲ There are only two people who have won three OSLs, and I am proud to have joined them. I can feel all the effort I have put in while being a progamer paying off after winning today. When I was ahead 2:0, I told myself not to be complacent as I looked at the Golden Mouse, reaffirming my desire to win.
- It must not have been easy to prepare for the Grand Finals.
▲ Even as I was on my way here, I felt that I had practiced much less than YellOw[ArnC]. Just as when I was about to focus hard on practicing, I had to go through some troubles regarding the FA, leading me to worry more about issues that wasn't related to my games at all. I didn't practice enough for me to be satisfied, but just yesterday, I practiced hard with my teammates and it was then when I felt that I was sure to win this OSL. That is why I felt that the amount of time I spent practicing didn't really matter.
- Which was your toughest match in this Bacchus OSL, and were you pressured by this Grand Finals?
▲ Now that I think about it, every match was tough. But if I had to choose one, it would be the semifinals (against Fantasy). At that point of time, I was under a lot of pressure, and I was even hearing stuff like "Jaedong is slumping" after the Proleague Grand Finals, which made me swear to win this OSL, and the same goes for the finals itself. I am known to be the best ZvZ player, but my recent performance against Zergs have been shaky, which was why I wanted to win this finals and retain the image of me being the best ZvZ player.
- Have you thought about which team to go regarding the FA?
▲ My manager and my thoughts were the same as we negotiated the contract. I have thought about this from a long time ago, but I started my life as a progamer in Hwaseung, and I've been with my manager ever since I was an amateur. Hence, I want to continue staying at Hwaseung. But we still couldn't come to an agreement. Nothing is final yet.
- You won 3:0.
▲ In my pre-game interview, I said that if luck wasn't on my side, I would win 3:1, else I would win 3:0. The first set was the most important, but luck was on my side and my build gave me the upper hand. I was certain I would win 3:0 if I won the first set.
- What does the Golden Mouse mean to you, and your future goals as a progamer?
▲ When the Golden Mouse is brought up, many people jokingly talk about the gold prices, and I personally really don't think much about it. I just think of it as a bonus prize for winning 3 OSLs. I am just honored to be a recipient of the Golden Mouse, and I want to be the first player to win 4 OSLs by performing the same way I have throughout these years. My ultimate goal is to be a progamer that e-sports fans and my juniors will remember forever, as well as setting new records that can never be surpassed.
- As the best Zerg player, are you satisfied with today's games?
▲ This is something a progamer shouldn't think about, but after winning the first set, I thought about how I should entertain the fans, being the finals and all. So personally I felt that I played an intense series. Also, if there were to be another ZvZ finals, I think that if you (the fans) also think about the mind-games going on, you would be able to enjoy the games much more.
- How do you plan to spend the money you have earned up til now, as well as your future incomes and prizes?
▲ I have won 3 OSLs, but regarding the prize moneys, other than treating those who have helped me, I haven't done much with it. I want to treat my teammates and coaching staff once again for their help this time round, as well as be filial to my parents, and if given a chance, I want to go traveling in September.
- Is it now the era of the Zergs?
▲ Both individual leagues' finals are ZvZs, so one may call it 'The Era of Zergs', but I think it's just a continuously-changing cycle. There are hardly any cases of Zergs defeating other races hands down. It is just that on broadcasted matches, there have been quite a few Zergs who weren't eliminated. Aside from that, I think that luck played a huge factor, and I believe that in the next season, the Terran or Protoss will be able to win.
- After the prize ceremony, what did Coach Cho whisper to you on stage?
▲ He told me, "you are my best player now, and you will forever be."
- Any final words?
▲ I managed to win my third OSL title today, and I've said this many times but I am still not satisfied. I will continue to participate in all the leagues, and until the day I retire from progaming, I will participate in all matches and work hard to put on a great performance for the fans. I look forward to everyone's support, and although this was a tough season for me, I would still like to thank all my fans from the bottom of my heart.
