I don't remember it being like this for past leagues on SB. It seems to reward people who just play more games, because you lose zero points or very small number of points for a loss compared to the amount of points you win for a win. IDK, maybe it gets different the more games you play, and that's why 100 games are required. Just thought I'd bring this up early, already mentioned it on SB chat channel and no one seemed to care. When there's money on the line people are going to care about this type of thing. Look at the top 10-20 players currently. There are a few who are 1500-1700 MMR with 50% or less win rate (including me). Then you see someone like Stryker getting matched with 2k MMR players constantly so he has less wins and less Rating points, even though he's a significantly better player. I could be missing something on how the ladder system works for leagues, but I figured I'd bring this up sooner rather than later. https://shieldbattery.net/guides/ladder Hopefully this clears things up. There are basically two factors at work: the MMR of the player and the amount of games that they play. In Leagues, as with ladder, everyone starts at 0 points. The amount of points you earn per game is dependent upon your MMR. There is a convergence factor which accelerates your points climb, which is also based on your MMR. Points drift toward 4 * MMR. The farther away your points are from 4 * MMR, the fewer points you lose and the more you gain, so obviously around 0 you're only gaining. So, players who are 1500 MMR will start capping out around 6000 points in the league, while 2000 MMR players will start capping out around 8000. The way this manifests in the leaderboard (both for ladder and in leagues) is that the highest activity players will reach the top first, but eventually the better players will supplant them after they get enough games in.

I think the large influx of really good players starting at base MMR is also hurting him quite a bit, his MMR was already very high before the league started. Imagine if he went 1-1 vs ZeloT who just joined Shieldbattery, he would barely gain any points when he wins because the opponents MMR hasnt settled yet, whereas if Zelot had 100 games on his account and was at his real MMR this would be farming points. Like a lot of things on SB, it just needs a bit of time ![]() Things should stabilize a bit more as everyone gets more games in.

Also may be great to have daily proleague/k-league hybrid sponsored (by foreigners partially) with foreigners vs foreigners for 1-2 matches, hosted on shield battery, kinda like how they have hybrid leagues with e-girls. Also shield battery university

Also shield battery university There's no way to force people of any skill to play on SB but a lot of CPL players have joined, and obviously the more people of all skill levels that join, the better balanced games can be across the board. I think there's a lot of positive word of mouth however, and we're seeing a lot of new accounts from all over the world.

Of course there is no way to force anyone, but back then during fish/iccup times, only those who actually know about Fish/iccup joined it, typically those who are inside the scene and at a higher level. This decreases the skill level overall on normal battle.net significantly. At least back then it was not impossible for total newbs to win a game unlike today and total skill level back then was not lower than today among the vast majority of people playing.

With ISBL, Pluto debacle, Young Players Tournament, multiple LANs in NA over the course of several years, rollback on SB, SCHNAIL coming to RM, the recent burst of tools for RM in general, CPL still going on, BSL of course, top tier Koreans connecting to SB while streaming in the wake of Battle.net/Blizzard shortcomings and failures... it truly feels like a third age of BW, another revival I don't wanna jinx it but this really feels like an exciting time to be a BW fan
