The average level is not the same as before, it has improved A LOT. PJ has improved a lot like everybody, however his win ratio is 50% because he is a Top gamer but not one of the best top gamers. And at the level starcraft is right now there is no talent anymore. All there is is hard work, and you can have all the amount of possible talent but if you don't fight hard you won't get a shit.

such a stupid comment are you trying to compare a "top" foreigners who hits a- with good stats just for the rank(dodging koreans most of the time) and pj who plays 100-200 games on A-/A ranks playing ONLY korean semi/progamers for skill? ........

are you talking about foreigners or koreans? cuz he certainly is one of the best foreigners
and scoffing at 50% win A is fucking retarded
theres lots of progamers who arent capable of that at this point in the season.

pj is easily better than 90% of the top foreigners and probably better than a large portion of korean B-teamers which incidentally is who he's mostly playing (and some progamers) so I think it's pretty amazing that he's maintained a 50% win ratio.

also hard work can always keep up with pure talent, look at white-ra. not saying he's talentless but he plays the most probably out of any top foreigner on ladder and usually maintains roughly 50% and I wouldn't consider him an underdog vs any top foreigner and probably a favorite vs most.

Talent is all that matters? Guess everyone who's a D ranked player can just go home, because there's no way we can, say, IMPROVE THROUGH PRACTICE.

at the highest level of play, every single progamer practices equally. However, it is TALENT that seperates them from each other. No one talking about random D rank players.

thats not true
you think its a coincidence everyone says jaedong is the hardest working player in progaming?

It's probably true that everyone will hit a level beyond which they cannot improve, but what you say is a little misleading IMO.

Everyone will hit multiple plateaus in their quest to improve in absolutely everything. Most of these can be overcome with creativity and change in methods. It's impossible to know when you've finally reached a point where you can no longer improve appreciably given significant effort. Consequently "talent" is not a particularly practical term.

Talent isn't something that's really determinable. Player A might play 200 games and improve only slightly, while player B may play 40 and improve dramatically. Is this because player B is just more talented than player A? Possibly but it's impossible to say. Player A could simply be playing relatively lazily, not thinking about why he loses and so forth. He will still improve because he'll repeat the mechanical actions so many times, but his improvement will be marginal. At the same time player B could be fully engaging himself, and taking advantage of all kinds of resources in order to better his game. It's impossible to tell these things from an external perspective.

Consideration of talent is often also too linear. Jaedong is one of the best players right now, and people call him extremely talented. In what way is he talented? He was a progamer for quite some time before he finally started achieving significant success. Maybe he is not just a starcraft genius, maybe his talent is his capacity for enormous quantities of valuable practice.

I find brick roads pretty easy to walk on. Brick walls are much more imposing.
