I cant understand why people are saying SeleCT he is Korean. He qualifies for the code A prelims anyway because of his current Korean ladder rank.

I thought the point of this was to enable 4 foreigners a chance to qualify that dont play on the korean ladder and dont have anywhere to stay for the time they got out to qualify. If we vote for people who would qualify anyway its like taking away 4 more foreigners we could have had.

This needs to be approached in a different way.

John, find out who is available and can make the trip first out of ones who don't qualify from the ladder anyway and then maybe approach us or get day9 to organise a tournament for them to decide amongst themselves.

This is exactly why Select, Huk and Haypro should be considered for the 4 Code A foreigner spots. They are already in Korea, so they have the experience of playing on the Korean server for a couple of months. Plus, they are settled, so they don't need to adjust to any transition bumps. They have the best shots of making it far in the Code A tournaments and hopefully achieve Code S.

Select is ethnically Korean, but he has dual citizenship and was living in the United States for a while. So, he's Korean-American. When Korean-Americans travel to South Korea, they are seen has foreigners because people can tell by how they act differently and how they speak.

You dont get what I am saying they ALREADY QUALIFY ANYWAY except maybe hader who might not be in the top 170 or so on ladder and they already have somewhere to stay as well.

Not sure how accurate your information is since I thought Select has spent a majority of his life in Korea and only stayed abroad for his studies during the last few years, and also how long it usually takes to obtain the US citizenship. However, I will take your word for it, but you cannot give a privilege meant for real foreigners to someone who holds a Korean citizenship even if he has a dual citizenship and is considered by some Koreans to be a "foreigner". Select is pretty much fluent in Korean and speaks a somewhat broken English from what I can tell. I think he has a limit to how long he can stay in Korea each year because of the army issues anyway.
I think his family has moved to the US but he did grow up in Korea he really doesnt speak English well at all though that isnt always an indicator of how long you have spent somewhere its a good clue. And in any case he is in the top 10 of the Korean ladder anyway so again he is going to qualify for the prelims in any case.

I do get what you're trying to say, but Code A invites aren't a form of social aid. If other players and teams are ambitious enough, they will move to Korea and try to qualify as well.

Liquid did it first, their players already have experience training in a professional environment and have improved their play in general. They invested a lot of money in that and it was a risky venture to get into, so both the team and players -deserve- the invite over some other players who will basically get flown to Korea and thrown into a Code A tournament... just like that.

If for nothing else, HuK/Hayder deserve it because they're more likely to be successful. I'd rather have the absolute best (remaining) foreigners get invited than inviting some people who will probably not play nearly as good in Korea and hoping Huk & Hayder qualify.

I know it's kind of a random list, but I think these are four very entertaining players who could make waves in the GSL with their unique and fun styles of play.

I think you misunderstand this qualification process. You cannot automatically qualify for GSL based on your ladder rank. There are qualification matches that you would have to go through despite your ladder rank. The only people who do not have to do these matches are the foreigner invites, and the demoted S class, or retained A class players form last season.

Well if you pick those already out there who already have the financial aid and ability to claim a ladder spot then you basically shut the door on anyone else doing the same thing in the future or new foreign teams that might of thought of trying the same like Dignitas, Fnatic or Mouz.

Yup, this is correct. Just because they are high on the Korean ladder doesn't mean they will automatically get Code A. Being high on the ladder gives them the right to compete in the preliminaries for Code A.

For the 4 foreigner Code A, the players don't have to go through the preliminaries. They would automatically be slotted into Code A.

from this post http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors1/news/52018

- Code S : 32 players ranked from 1~32
- Code A : 32 players ranked from 33~64(4 recommended foreign players will be seeded, mainly winners of other worldwide tournaments)
- Code B : 172 players that are not in Code S or Code A and are the top ranked players from the Diamond League in the Korean Battle.net server. (Foreign players can always compete in the Preliminary Rounds for Code A disregarding their ladder point.)
- Interaction between Code A and Code S : Up and Down matches
- Interaction between Code B and Code A : Preliminary Rounds for Code A

172 players coming from the Korean Battle.net server I think its safe to say they would make the cut and if they cant make that cut then its probably better it went to someone else anyway.

The 172 players are for Code B. In order to be Code A, the people in Code B would have to go through preliminaries.
Interaction between Code B and Code A : Preliminary Rounds for Code A
. For the 4 code A spots, you don't have to be Code B nor go through the preliminaries.

No wrong they dont go into Code A they go into code B (Code A preliminaries) along with 172 ladder qualifiers.

The choice looks pretty straightforward to me.

1. Huk: he's by far the best ranked foreigner on the Korean ladder.
2. Naama: he won Dreamhack.
3. Fenix: he won at NY comic-con.
4. Sen or TLO: they're the only ones, besides those currently in Code A/Code S, to defeat an opponent in a GSL match.

Other contenders:
Morrow ? Not good enough as Zerg yet.
Brat_OK ? I doubt he'll be able to leave Russia.
Haypro ? No.
Tyler ? Said he wasn't interested in competing in Korea.
Sjow ? Good Terran overall, but plays terrible when stakes are high.
Kiwikaki ? He would become amazing if he trained in a team house in Korea for a couple of months, but otherwise, no.
TTOne ? Haven't seen him play in quite a while.
Mana ? Maybe...
Socke ? QXC ? Dimaga ? WhiteRa ? All very solid. But do they really stand a chance against top Korean players ?
You and whose 200/200 fully upgraded army?

My choices:

1. HuK: Best foreigner on korean ladder
2. BratOK: Sick terran, he almost never cheeses, and always gives entertaining and good games
3. White-ra: Grandpa of all protoss
4. Empire.Kas: This one's really really good, he's probably the best euro terran around right now

Other candidates

5. DIMAGA: Fun to watch, good player
6. Mana: Solid protoss all-round.

Ok,I think I have to go with...

1.Nerchio:Ranked first in EU at one time playing random,he plays awesome every time I've watched him
2.Mana: I really like his playstyle and think he'd have a good chance
3.Sjow: He's just so solid and performs well almost every single time+I've stolen many of his ideas as Terran ^^
4.TLO: If he's feeling better,I believe that he can start crushing those Korean noobs once again
