Today is one of those days. Anyway, the reason why we are experiencing delays is because my router basically said "fuck you GM, you don't have any rights!" and crapped out. I have it juryrigged to let me get online, but I'm experiencing random disconnects, high latency, and stretches of time where I cannot connect. So, yeah, I'm here, fighting to make this game happen! | ||

Day 1: Welcome to Liquidia ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/g1V2t.jpg) The roar of the frenzied crowd drowned out all other sounds as the mayor of the metropolis of Liquidia, GMarshal, ascended the stage outside the town hall, followed closely by his bodyguards Mr. Wiggles and Meapak_Ziphh. The next municipal elections were coming up fast, and he was looking to be re-elected for his third consecutive term as mayor. This speech had been planned by his campaign coordinators to give him that little popularity boost he needed going into his campaign, and he was happy to deliver for his adoring fans. Stepping behind the podium at the centre of the stage, GMarshal pulled the attached microphone towards him and cleared his throat, the din of the crowd quickly dying with the sound. “Citizens, and friends, today I wish to talk about a present danger to our beautiful city, which seeks to besmirch its good name and taint its purity. This menace has recently intruded into Liquidia, like disease, and is in the process of undermining both your security and safety. Namely, I am speaking of the recent increase in criminal activities by the Mafia.” A frightened, hushed, murmur went up from the crowd at these words, and GMarshal waited a moment, before continuing: “These... scum,” he spat out the word, “are involved in all kinds of illegal activities, from protection rackets, smuggling, drug trafficking, prostitution, arms dealing, to even murder for hire. They will stop at nothing to spread their influence and increase their power, and care nothing for the safety of law-abiding citizens such as yourselves.” GMarshal let fear rise up in the crowd again before he launched back into his speech, “However, as your mayor, I am doing the utmost I can to protect you from these despicable animals. We are increasing the police presence across the entire city, and are working with national investigative bureaus to crack down on the leaders of this evil movement. It is my hope, that in the coming elections, you will do the service to me, and this great city, to vote to allow me to continue my tireless efforts to stop these enemies! Together we can stop this corrupting influence and reclaim the innocence of Liquidia!” With the conclusion of the speech, the crowd erupted into cheers and shouts of “GMarshal for mayor!” and “Reclaim the city!”. The entirety of the front rows were on the their feet applauding, except for one man dressed in black, who was doing his best to make his way through the crowd and towards the stage. GMarshal gazed out over the crowd, soaking up their praise and adulation. He had a good feeling about his career prospects. Grinning, he turned towards Mr. Wiggles, “So what did you think of that? Pretty good, hey?”. Mr. Wiggles opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off as an explosion suddenly cut through the crowd. The men on stage were nearly knocked off their feet, and the sound of cheering previously in GMarshal's ears was quickly replaced by the screams of the wounded and a tinny ringing. The man in black rushed forward and nimbly jumped on to the stage, pulling a pistol from the pocket of his coat. “The mafia send their regards, Mr. Mayor”, iGrok said calmly, as he levelled the pistol to aim at the centre of GMarshal's chest. Before he could pull the trigger, he was distracted by a sudden roar to his right. iGrok turned quickly, seeing Meapak_Ziphh just before he tackled him, launching them both off the stage. Two shots rang out as they fell, and iGrok rolled the bleeding body of Meapak_Ziphh off of himself and looked around frantically, trying to locate his mark. Catching a glimpse of GMarshal as he slipped into an alleyway with Mr. Wiggles, he scrambled to his feet and was quickly in pursuit. Mr. Wiggles pulled his ward along with him as quickly as he could. Hopefully Meapak_Ziphh had bought them enough time to escape unnoticed, but he wasn't about to let his guard down. His cautiousness was rewarded, as the sound of running footsteps echoed off the walls behind them. Mr. Wiggles threw GMarshal behind a dumpster and pulled out his own weapon just in time to ready it as iGrok came sprinting around the corner of the alleyway. Seeing Mr. Wiggles ready and waiting, iGrok fired his gun wildly, missing twice, and Mr. Wiggles coolly fired his own pistol three times in reply. iGrok crumpled to the ground in a bloody heap, and Mr. Wiggles and GMarshal were quickly on their way down the alley again. Soon, they emerged onto the next major street, completely empty after the proximity of the prior blast. Out of breath and head pounding, Mr. Wiggles gasped, “We should be safe now, I'll call in for back up and they'll be here soon”. GMarshal didn't reply. He was too concerned with how this attack would affect his campaign run, and paced back and forth as Mr. Wiggles called in for a car to pick them up. Within a minute, a black unmarked sedan pulled onto the street. “That was quick”, commented Mr. Wiggles. “Don't worry about it”, GMarshal replied, “the sooner we're out of here, the better”. They walked towards the vehicle, and when they were within a few metres the rear door flew open, revealing not more of GMarshal's retinue, but instead the barrel of a sub-machine gun. GMarshal and his bodyguard didn't even have time to react before they were quickly gunned down by two quick spurts of automatic fire, leaving them dead and bleeding on the ground, as the door of the car slammed shut and it screamed away down the street. Qatol the Vanilla Townie has been killed in an explosion! Ver the Vanilla Townie has been killed in an explosion! Flamewheel the Vanilla Townie has been killed in an explosion! Meapak_Ziphh the Bodyguard has been shot in defense of the mayor! iGrok the Mafia Assassin is missing and presumed dead! Mr. Wiggles the Bodyguard has been gunned down! GMarshal the Mayor of Liquidia has been gunned down! There are no clues in this post. Role PMs are out. The game has now begun. @BC You told me before the game started that he had a very good strategy for mafia this game, but didn't reveal what it was. You also said that if town was smart it can be countered, so reveal the counter to it. I want full disclosure from you and be warned that I can smell bull from a mile away. | ||

vote me for mayor winning record as town (some games) couple mafia ptp1 (that's just 2 examples) plus i suck at scum, example- batman lynched day 1 as mafia don't vote sinani he's infamous around here for being awful. | ||

Edit: Ninjaed by an anti-Zerg genocide platform. Wouldn't want to leave that out. Can we get some more knowledgable/experienced players (who aren't in the running for mayor) to help us noobs out with the first stages a bit? How do we get info day 1 to avoid electing scum? If I understand the rules right, there's really no game mechanism that allows us to collect information on each other before the first night, no? | ||
