lol that is awesome. I swear most metalheads are all just big nerds anyways. Makes me proud ^_^
Edit: I know that corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse plays WoW. <3
When I went to go see Wintersun a few months ago the nerdy looking people outnumbered the "metal" looking people. Its pretty fucking rare that im the toughest guy in the pit, haha.
So I herd u want to listen to old school death metal?
Do note, this is not the definitive death metal list, nor even a list of personal favourites. It’s just a bunch of awesome old school death metal that I feel is underrated and deserves a lot more recognition.
If you are wondering why some bands aren’t here despite having released classic albums in their own right, you will have to keep in mind that I have made it after my own personal opinion. In other words, the reason some bands have not made it is either because I don’t feel like they would fit the context of punishing osdm (Atheist, Cynic, later Death releases, melodeath bands etc), because I personally do not enjoy them at all (Cannibal Corpse) or maybe I’m just not familiar with them.
If you are wondering why I’ve picked these particular songs, the reason is once more subjectivity, as well as my trying to make sure the songs are representative of the bands' sound at that time while not being too generic or repetitive. If that makes any sense. ^^
If you are wondering why some bands have more songs featured than others, this is simply because I don’t want to have to put in 4-5 dozen songs in a single post.
So without any further ado, here’s the brutality you’ve been waiting for, conveniently hid within multiple spoilers so that your browsers don’t crash.
Very, very nice. You even got Cancer and Onward To Golgotha in there \m/ I fucking love Gorguts, every album. I gave everything a once-over to see what was posted, but definitely coming back to it for a marathon listen at some point.
(edit) Here's something I've pulled from the catacombs...
hunts do you really have nothing better to do than try to bait flames in this thread? First the retarded "i like ppl who can actually sing roflmfao xddddd" and now posting generic, angsty, gutter nu metal? Seriously... get a life.

How am I baiting flames? And I listen to plenty of metal, just not as much lately, and was wondering if people here only like deathmetal/black metal or if anyone actually likes other types that are more melodic. Besides, it would be redundant to go posting random black metal or deathmetal songs since the threads already full of them, why not things that aren't posted as much? Is this more to your liking?

You claim you listen to plenty of metal, and yet you disregard the fact that there are numerous black / death bands that make extensive use of melody. Hell, there's the entire Gothenburg scene for one, and then some.
The reason stuff like Mushroomhead isn't posted as much is because it's generic, "fuck the system" nu metal, just like Slipknot and their entire ilk. One would assume if you're older than 13 you've grown out of that phase. Not because we hate melody (really? melody in nu metal? there's no way you're serious) or anything of that kind.
Also lmao @ implying that Slayer fits into either death or black metal.
You're just digging this hole deeper and deeper. But if you're somehow actually honest, I'll bite and recommend you some brilliant work from the mid 90s Swedish scene:
Oh I remember this. Yeah I enjoy it quite a bit to be honest, can definitely see a bit of dat thrash influence. But then again I really enjoyed K-On! as well so maybe I'm a bit biased in this regard. ^^
Out of context, that is pretty watered-down, even with the solo guitar. It does hit some nice discordant phrasing, But, overall, bland.
Nuh Metal died years ago, as trends will. However, you should ALWAYS question the Ones with Power. What hold over your being do they actually have? Don't they just seize to exist like everyone now and everyone before them? If you think you've grown out of all that, you've actually just gave in.
These Days i listen mostly to Raubtier but as all their songs are in swedish i also bring Vintersorg as before vintersorg i found no beauty in growling or "unclean" (for lack of better wording) singing.
PS I never liked In flames as the first time i heard them was when they were warming up the audience for Iron Maiden and they never caught my attention but that instrumental a few posts up was really great loved it.
